Greg Cote Show: Greg from Canada, Happy Gilmore 2, Kurkjian more

Miami Heralda day ago
Chris and Yeti take the lead on the Greg Cote Show's newest Episode #281, out now, while Greg is away on vacation in Canada. But then Greg either saves the day or ruins everything (depending on one's perspective) by barreling into the show from Capilano Suspension Bridge Park in Vancouver.
Learn about Greg's visit to the secret (or at least unmarked) Prophecy bar in Vancouver; how many times Greg's wife awkwardly engaged Canadians about U.S. politics; a hockey conversation in a mountain-climbing gondola; and a lovely unexpected visit with huge fans of ours who noticed us at Fanny Bay Oyster Bar.
Plus new Dad Jokes and special Canada-edition of Three Facts, Jack!
Almost forgot: My immunity to travel-induced constipation, and a related new superhero nickname.
This is our 281st episode overall and 30th of 2025 and we welcome you back as always.
Also on the latest show:
▪ ESPN baseball maven Tim Kurkjian weighs in as we explore the baseball colloaquialism, 'hind catcher.'
▪ A (surprising) review of the new Happy Gilmore 2 sequel.
▪ Ozzy Osbourne's perfect exit.
▪ Greg's negative encounter with Hulk Hogan.
▪ Wait, is Chris hosting a new Dolphins podcast!?
▪ McDonald's Migraine Hack.
▪ Yeti shares secrets about fast food, what annoys him about his church congregation and more.
There's all of this and more in our new GCS #281. Aside from occasional bonus episodes, a new show drops every Monday morning at 7 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify — wherever you pod, including at miamiherald.com. Find our entire show catalog with all 281 episodes HERE. (We also simulcast on Sirius XM radio Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m.)
Our podcast debuted in March 2020 just as the pandemic hit. (Coincidence; don't blame us). We thank you all, our pod family, for your great and growing support. Please continue to listen, rate, review, subscribe (it's free) and tell all your friends and family, too!

Karrueche Tran tearfully sits bedside with Deion Sanders amid his bladder cancer surgery

Amid his bladder cancer, Deion Sanders had Karrueche Tran by his side. The actress and model was seen in an emotional 18-minute documentary shot by Deion Sanders Jr.'s media company, released following Sanders' diagnosis announcement Monday, July 28. In the video, Tran sits bedside next to Sanders as he prepares for surgery to remove his bladder, which Coach Prime revealed in a Monday press conference after a cancerous tumor was found on his bladder. Tran, 37, tearfully explains in the video, shot in May, that doctors will create a new bladder for Sanders, 57, with part of one of his intestines, and that his bladder will be entirely removed to "ensure the cancer doesn't come back." His doctor, Janet Kukreja, said the NFL Hall of Famer is now "cured." Neither Sanders nor Tran has officially confirmed a relationship. USA TODAY has reached out for comment. Former ESPN analyst is still baffled by last season's MVP snub for Lamar Jackson

Months later, a former ESPN mainstay still hasn't gotten over an obvious Lamar Jackson MVP snub. Every so often, ESPN has its round of firings, and the network saunters on with its restructured cast of stars. Some men and women we know are safe before those cuts happen. Sometimes, the dismissals shock us. Now and then, once everything settles, we realize we miss some of the on-air talent more than we thought we would. Bomani Jones isn't every Baltimore Ravens fan's cup of tea. Neither was the man whose show he co-hosted. Highly Questionable wasn't one of those broadcasts that everyone would set the timer to watch. Dan Le Batard... He, too, was the owner of one of those personalities you'd understand someone loving or feeling they could do without. Jones eventually left the show in 2017 to develop his brand, High Noon. He was also a regular on ESPN's highly popular Around the Horn, but it's his recent creative effort, The Right Time with Bomani Jones, that captured our attention relatively recently. Bomani Jones is still aggravated by a perceived Lamar Jackson MVP snub Those of you who are hip-hop heads will appreciate this reference, but at its core, few things offer the same competitive component as the battle. Once upon a time, Nas went for blood, shifting music on its ear with his verbal onslaught on Jay-Z. Ether was what he titled it. Many moons later, Lamar Jackson would pass for 4,172 yards and toss 41 touchdown passes while only throwing four interceptions. He led the league in touchdown percentage (8.6), yards per attempt (8.8), QB rating (119.6), and QBR (77.3). He added another 915 yards and four rushing touchdowns with his legs. He was named First-Team All-Pro in the AFC. When the MVP votes were tallied, the award was given to Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen. Months later, Jones 'ethered' everyone responsible. We can't argue with any of that. He's right. Much love to Josh Allen. He's gifted and all and was probably the best MVP Pick not named Lamar Jackson, but Lamar Jackson should be the owner of three MVP trophies right now. Challenge flags can't be thrown when MVP trophies are handed out. That simply isn't how things work, but maybe it should be. Months later, this still feels like a snub. Sure, it's whatever under the bridge now, and training camp is already underway, but don't blame us for bringing this up. Blame Jones. We simply demand a recount.
