Kelantan cops dispose of RM11.3 mln worth of drugs seized since 1997
KOTA BHARU: Kelantan police today disposed of an estimated RM11.3 million worth of various types of illegal drugs and poisons seized from 1997 to 2024.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the case item disposal was implemented in accordance with the Inspector-General of Police Standing Order (PTKPN) D207, after all the cases had been charged and concluded in court.
'The disposal this time involved 467.722 kilogrammes (kg) and 2,165.48 litres of various banned substances, such as syabu (methamphetamine), yaba pills, cough mixtures, ketum juice, psychotropic pills and ganja (cannabis).
'The highest seizure value involved syabu, weighing 301.706kg and estimated at RM9.66 million; followed by 1,721.45 litres of cough mixtures worth over RM1 million,' he told a media conference on the disposal of case items at the Kelantan Police Headquarters here today.
In a related development, the Kelantan Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) also recorded positive achievements from January to May this year, with the arrest of 12,298 individuals on various drug-related crimes.
'During that period, the NCID also seized drugs worth RM10.31 million and confiscated RM1.32 million worth of drug traffickers' assets,' he said.

Muhammad Mauludin, 30, Mujahidin Adu, 43, and Aliza, 25, were charged under Regulation 11(7) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, punishable under Regulation 39(b) of the same law, which carries imprisonment not exceeding six months or a fine not exceeding RM1,000, or both, upon conviction. They committed the offence at around 4.35pm on May 8, 2025 by working at a restaurant in the Saberkas Commercial Centre here, thus violating their social visit passes. In mitigation, the trio pleaded to the court for a lenient sentence, citing this was their first offence. Miri man fined RM1,500 for abusing meth, amphetamine six years ago

Dexter Timban Suning from Kampung Tunku Abdul Rahman, Lambir entered the plea after the charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act, was read to him. The Section provides for a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or up to two years' imprisonment upon conviction. Magistrate Ashok Linggam also ordered the accused to undergo two years of supervision by the authorities. Trader fined for obstructing health officer
KOTA KINABALU (June 12): A trader was fined RM3,000, in default four months' jail, by a Magistrate's Court here today for obstructing a Health Ministry officer from performing his duties. Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin imposed the fine on 38-year-old Tee Hong Lim after he pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code. The offence carries a penalty of up to two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction. Tee was found guilty of committing the offence at a house in Taman Seri Kepayan on June 1. In an unrelated case, a driver was discharged on a two-year good behaviour bond by another Magistrate's Court here for a charge of causing hurt. Magistrate Wan Farrah Fariza Wan Ghazali issued the order under Section 173A of the Criminal Procedure Code in the case of Mahady Sham, who was accused of injuring the victim at the loading bay of a meal unit at a health institute at 11.46am on May 15, 2024. The court set the bond at RM1,200 with one local surety. Mahady was represented by counsel Mohamad Syazwan Shah Mohamad Ali.
