Macklemore's Seattle Home Robbed, Nanny Sprayed With Bear Mace

Yahoo10-06-2025
Burglars broke into a home in Seattle belonging to Macklemore over the weekend, spraying a nanny with bear mace and stealing 'thousands of dollars of items' while three children were in the residence.
The incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday, June 7, in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, according to a police report obtained by Rolling Stone. The two suspects entered the house, confronted the nanny with the mace, then 'ransacked the residence.' The suspects were reportedly inside the house for several minutes until the nanny was able to free herself and call 911. The suspects fled soon after. The children in the house were not harmed and were put in the care of family members.

While the police report noted that the house belonged to a 'high-profile individual,' the name was redacted. The home address, however, matched those on Macklemore's voting record, per The Seattle Times.
It does not appear that Macklemore was home at the time of the robbery. The musician played a pair of concerts in Ireland on June 4 and 5, and was scheduled to perform at a festival in Frankfurt, Germany, on June 8, but canceled his appearance at the last minute. The festival wrote in a statement, 'Due to unforeseen circumstances, Macklemore had to return to Seattle to attend to an urgent matter… This decision was not made lightly and we apologize to all his fans eager to see the show.'
A rep for Macklemore did not immediately return Rolling Stone's request for comment.
According to the nanny, the robbery occurred not long after she had put the three children to bed. The nanny said the suspects entered via a patio door, confronted her, and sprayed her in the face with the mace. She said one suspect actually tried to help her clean it off her face 'for some unexplainable reason.' While the nanny said this suspect looked 'fearful,' the other one started yelling at her, 'Where are the jewels, bitch?'
The nanny said she showed the men where the valuable items in the house were, and they took jewelry, watches, and shoes. The suspects also pushed the woman to the ground, took her phone, and tried to restrain her, but the nanny said she was able to get free by biting one of them. She then ran from the house and knocked on the doors of neighbors before one let her in and allowed her to call the police.
The nanny also suggested to police that she thought the robbery could have been politically motivated, though the police report did not contain any further details or evidence related to this assumption. Macklemore has long been outspoken on a variety of issues, and has lately focused much of his energy on speaking out against Israel's war in Gaza.

Diddy's Lead Attorney Says He Has ‘Not Spoken to the President' About a Possible Pardon

Just days after one of his other attorneys said that it was her understanding that Sean 'Diddy' Combs' team has reached out to President Donald Trump about a possible pardon for the disgraced hip-hop mogul, the Bad Boy Records boss' lead lawyer threw cold water on the claims. 'I have nothing to do with a possible pardon,' lead attorney Marc Agnifilo told CBS News. 'I have had conversations with nobody. I have not spoken to the president. I have not spoken to anybody who speaks to the president about Sean Combs. I have not.' More from Billboard Diddy Attorney Confirms They've Reached Out to Trump Administration About Possible Pardon: 'He Remains Hopeful' Downright Dirty: How Dominik Mysterio Became Wrestling's Most Hated Superstar Piers Morgan Is 'Disappointed' to See Beyoncé 'Culturally Appropriate' Marilyn Monroe in Levi's Ad That seeming about-face came after one of Combs' other legal reps, Nicole Westmoreland, told CNN earlier this week that, 'It's my understanding that we've reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,' without offering any additional details on which administration officials Combs' team has reportedly been in talks with. In his first interview since Combs was convicted on prostitution-related charges in New York last month — he was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges that could have had him locked up for decades — Agnifilo told CBS that he hasn't discussed a potential pardon with Combs either, other than to inform him that it's being talked about in the press. Combs was convicted of two felony counts of transportation to engage in prostitution last month at a closely watched trial at which several former girlfriends and employees described the rapper's meticulously curated, drug-fueled 'freak off' sex marathon parties at which they said Combs, 55, observed while his female companions had sex with male prostitutes. 'He says, 'Go tell him (Mr. Trump) that I need a pardon,'' Agnofilo said Combs told him about the chatter regarding a possible get out of jail effort from Trump. ''Go tell him I deserve a pardon.' That's what he said.' At press time a spokesperson for the White House had not returned Billboard's request for comment on a potential Combs pardon. A senior Trump administration official declined to comment to CBS on what they called 'speculation,' saying any decision on pardons would come directly from Trump. While Trump has liberally wielded the pardon and commutation pen so far in his second term — including to pardon the more than 1,500 Jan. 6 rioters who violently stormed the Capitol in 2021 after Trump's election loss the previous November — in an interview with Newsmax last week Trump seemed on the fence about sparing his former friend Combs. 'Well, he was essentially half-innocent… I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great and he seemed like a nice guy,' Trump said. 'I didn't know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile. The president, who prefers those who openly curry favor with and praise him, said the 'not so nice' comments from Combs could be a deal-breaker and that those untoward views are definitely making it 'more difficult' to consider the effort. While Trump and Combs were often pictured together at parties and public events before the real estate mogul first became president in 2016, Diddy seemed to quickly distance himself from the Trump in 2017 when he told the Daily Beast that he didn't 'really give a f–k about Trump.' Then, after Trump lost his re-election bid to President Joe Biden in 2020, Combs told interviewer Charlamagne Tha God that 'white men like Trump need to be banished… the number one priority it to get Trump out of office.' Agnifilo, whose previous clients include 'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli and NXIVM founder Keith Raniere, said he's currently focused on getting Combs a 'good sentence' at an upcoming Oct. 3 sentencing hearing, where the once high-flying rap impresario is facing up to a maximum of two decades in prison. The lawyer said he typically speaks to Combs several times a day from the rapper's cell at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center; a judge denied Combs bail for a fifth time this week citing the violent nature of Combs' personal relationships. While he awaits his fate, Agnifilo said he's told Combs — who was reportedly eager to testify at the trial — that the broad outline of the sentencing guidelines suggest he could be sentenced to four to five years behind bars, minus credit for time served since he was first imprisoned in Sept. 2024. In a surprising aside given the damaging, lurid testimony in the trial about Combs' private life, Agnifilo said one of Diddy's future goals is to perform at one of New York's most iconic venues again. 'He said to me he's going to be back at Madison Square Garden,' Agnifilo said. Watch Agnifilo talk a possible pardon below. Busta Rhymes Denies Assault Allegations in Former Assistant's Lawsuit

Busta Rhymes denied allegations of physical assault brought forth in a new lawsuit filed by the rapper's former assistant. In January, the rapper born Trevor Smith Jr. was arrested in Brooklyn on third-degree assault charges after allegedly punching his then-assistant Dashiel Gables in the face. While that case is still pending, Gables filed a federal lawsuit earlier this week accusing Rhymes of assault and other workplace abuses. However, the breaking point came in January when Rhymes allegedly assaulted Gables after the assistant answered a phone call from his own daughter. 'When Plaintiff explained it was his daughter, Busta Rhymes responded, 'Don't tell me about your fucking kid, what the fuck that gotta do with me?'' the lawsuit stated. Immediately after that confrontation, Rhymes allegedly punched Gables several times, which 'constructively terminated Plaintiff's employment.' Gables was later treated at a nearby hospital and filed a police report soon after, resulting in Rhymes' arrest. Gables' lawsuit claims that after the police report against Rhymes following the alleged assault, he has 'been frozen out of the hip-hop music industry,' and 'effectively blacklisted from employment opportunities in his chosen field.' (The lawsuit also cites an incident involving a previous Rhymes assistant who 'quit abruptly in tears after Busta Rhymes demanded he unclog Busta Rhymes' toilet without a plunger, forcing him to clear the clogged toilet by hand.') In a statement to the Guardian, Rhymes denied the allegations listed in Gables' lawsuit. 'I have been made aware of the claims made by Dashiel Gables, and I completely and categorically deny these allegations. For a very brief period, Dashiel assisted me, but it did not work out,'' Rhymes said. 'Apparently, Dashiel has decided to respond to being let go by manufacturing claims against me in an attempt to attack and damage my reputation. I look forward to proving these allegations false, and am preparing a countersuit, which I am confident will expose this for what it is — an attempted shake-down by a disgruntled former assistant. Ultimately, I am certain the truth will prevail.' Best of Rolling Stone Sly and the Family Stone: 20 Essential Songs The 50 Greatest Eminem Songs All 274 of Taylor Swift's Songs, Ranked

Sean "Diddy" Combs' lead attorney says "I have nothing to do with a possible pardon"

The lead attorney for Sean "Diddy" Combs, Marc Agnifilo, says he has not had any conversations with the Trump administration about seeking a pardon for his client. Agnifilo sat down with CBS News for his first network interview since a New York jury convicted Combs of prostitution-related charges last month. Combs was acquitted of more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He's scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 3. Earlier this week, another attorney for Combs, Nicole Westmoreland, told CNN it was her understanding that the defense team "had conversations in reference to a pardon" with the Trump administration. But Agnifilo tells CBS News, "I have nothing to do with a possible pardon." "I have had conversations with nobody," Agnifilo said. "I have not spoken to the president. I have not spoken to anybody who speaks to the president about Sean Combs. I have not." He says he hasn't discussed it with Combs either, except to tell him what's in the news. "He says, 'Go tell him (Mr. Trump) that I need a pardon,'" Agnofilo said. "'Go tell him I deserve a pardon.' That's what he said." A senior White House official declined to comment on what they termed "speculation" and told CBS News any decisions on pardons would come from the president himself. Agnifilo said right now he's focused on getting his client "a good sentence." He said he usually speaks several times a day with Combs, who is currently jailed at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center after he was again denied bail on Monday. Judge Arun Subramanian cited Combs' violence in his personal relationships — the same reason he denied Combs bail on the day of the verdict. Combs, 55, was convicted on July 2 of two counts alleging violations of the Mann Act, a law that makes it a federal crime to transport someone across state lines for prostitution. Each count carries a potential maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Combs will get credit for time served, and prosecutors have said he should get at least 51 to 63 months imprisonment on the two convictions, or a sentence of roughly four to five years. Asked if he has any regrets about how he tried the case, Agnifilo replied, "Not really, not really." During the trial, Agnifilo described the relationship between Combs and former girlfriend Cassie Ventura as "a great modern love story." But Ventura, who testified against him, has said she was raped, physically abused and became addicted to drugs because of Combs. Agnifilo said they "vehemently deny" the rape allegation, and in the interview, he stood by his depiction of the relationship. "In terms of the, you know, the drugs and the other stuff … that's what makes it a modern love story," he said. "I think they really did love each other. I think she very much loved him and I know he very much loved her." "I mean, these are two people who hurt each other, loved each other, cheated on each other," he said. Ventura's lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, rejects Agnifilo's description of the relationship, telling CBS News that it is a "complete disgrace and affront" to survivors of domestic violence. Agnifilo, a former prosecutor turned criminal defense attorney, has had other high-profile cases in his 35-year career, including the trial of NXIVM founder Keith Raniere and Martin "Pharma Bro" Shkreli, but none as highly publicized as the trial of Combs. "I've been blessed to have a lot of cases that people care about, but nothing, nothing close to this," Agnifilo said, adding that it put a lot of pressure on him and his team. "A lot of pressure because, you know, Sean Combs — I mean, I, I believed in my heart that he was innocent." Asked what Combs wants the public to know, Agnifilo said his client has been reflecting on "the blessings that he's been given, on the imperfections that I think he sees in himself." He said Combs is focusing on his family, and that the hip-hop mogul has also mentioned a future goal: "He said to me he's going to be back at Madison Square Garden."
