Entering Tuesday, the Phoenix Mercury boasted a 5-2 record, sitting second in the Western Conference.
Unfortunately, Phoenix proceeded to drop its third game of the season, getting blown out 88-65 by the Minnesota Lynx in Minneapolis.

Without All-Star forward, Alyssa Thomas, Phoenix struggled through much of the night, shooting a horrid 5-of-30 from 3-point range and getting outrebounded 37-24.
To make matters worse, before the contest, head coach Nate Tibbetts confirmed that Thomas, who was ruled out with a left calf injury, remains in limbo regarding her return.
"I'm not sure," Tibbetts said when asked when she will resume basketball activities.
Fans online were quick to react to Tibbetts comments.

Thomas was traded to Phoenix in February and has already emerged as arguably the Mercury's best player.
Through five games in 2025, she has averaged 15.2 points, 8.0 assists, 7.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per contest, shooting 50.% from the field and leading the team in assists.
In her absence, the Mercury have now dropped a 74-71 contest to the Lynx on Friday, won 85-80 over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday and now again to Minnesota.

Fans, hopeful that Thomas would anchor a new era in Phoenix, now face uncertainty as the season's trajectory shifts without her on on the court.

In the WNBA, a player's first three technical fouls each result in a $200 fine. The next three (4-6) result in a $400 fine each. And seven or more technicals will end with a $800 charge. However, the WNBA changed the technical foul rules around this season, likely due to the increase in scheduled games from 40 to 44. In recent seasons, a seventh tech would also lead to a suspension. However, this year, they increased that number to eight. However, Clark may be used to paying some of these fines. During her rookie year, she picked up six technical fouls, which ended up being $1,800 in total fines. Diana Taurasi, Natasha Cloud and Teaira McCowan led the league with seven techs apiece. ATLANTA (AP) — Kyle Farmer just shrugged when asked about being part of a Colorado team that just made MLB history with the worst 70-game record in the modern era. 'We don't care,' Farmer said after Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves left the Rockies with a 13-57 record. The Rockies surpassed the 1932 Boston Red Sox, who were 14-56, for the worst 70-game mark since 1901. 'I mean, there's nothing we can do about it,' Farmer said. 'It is what it is. We've just got to show up tomorrow and play. There's nothing you can really say about it except that if it happens, it happens.' The Rockies made more inglorious history by setting a franchise nine-inning record with 19 strikeouts. That's a lot of futility for one team to absorb in one day. The 19 strikeouts by Braves pitchers also set an Atlanta record for a nine-inning game. Spencer Strider recorded 13 strikeouts in six innings, followed by relievers Rafael Montero and Dylan Lee, who combined for six more whiffs. The only bright spot for the Rockies was the encouraging start by rookie right-hander Chase Dollander, a native of Evans, Georgia, who allowed four runs, three earned, in six innings. Dollander said 'just having a neutral mindset' is the key to remaining positive through a season already filled with low points for the team. 'Don't ride the roller coaster,' Dollander said. 'You know, there's going to be lots of ups and downs in this game. This game is really hard. So it's just, you know, staying neutral and we just keep going.' Dollander was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 summer draft. Among other top young players on the team are catcher Hunter Goodman, who may return to Atlanta for the All-Star Game on July 15, and outfielders Jordan Beck and Brenton Doyle. 'You know we're going to have our time,' Dollander said. 'I mean, it's just one of those things that you kind of learn as you go. I've been very fortunate to be here for a little bit now, and I can help us going forward.'
