Woman faces psychiatric evaluation over fake royal marriage TikTok post
Judge Norma Ismail granted the prosecution's request for Persana Avril Sollunda to be observed for one month at Hospital Bahagia in Tanjong Rambutan, Perak. Deputy public prosecutor Ravendejit Kaur sought the evaluation to obtain a psychiatric report before proceeding with the case.
The accused's lawyer, Mehgalaa Rajendran, did not oppose the application. The court set August 19 for the next mention.
Persana Avril was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for uploading a video on TikTok via the account 'king.charles.ratu'. The post, made on February 25, displayed a fabricated marriage certificate between a royal and Crown Princess Ratu Shana.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of RM500,000 in fines, up to two years' imprisonment, or both. An additional RM5,000 fine may apply for each day the offence persists post-conviction. - Bernama

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The road transport department (JPJ) has issued 1,274 compound notices under a special operation to ensure the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers of express buses, tour buses and goods vehicles since July 1. JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said 1,000 notices were issued to passengers for not wearing seat belts, 262 notices to drivers for the same offence, and 12 notices to express buses that failed to install seat belts, Bernama reported. 'For passengers, 878 notices were issued to express bus passengers, 107 to tour bus passengers, and 15 to passengers or drivers of goods vehicles. 'For drivers, 33 notices were issued to express bus drivers, 24 to tour bus drivers and 205 to goods vehicle drivers,' he said. JPJ is cracking down on buses following the fatal crash that claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris students last month. The bus was travelling from Jertih, Terengganu, to Tanjung Malim, Perak, along the East-West Highway, when it crashed near Tasik Banding in Gerik. Initial findings revealed that the bus was travelling at twice the permitted speed limit and this was believed to be one of the causes of the accident.
