Jointly organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), the symposium brought together leading international specialists in radiation oncology. Themed 'New Horizons in Radiation Therapy: Particle Beam Therapy,' the gathering underscored both countries' shared commitment to advancing precision medicine and improving patient outcomes.
In his keynote address, Park Jong Kyoung, Minister and Consul General of the Republic of Korea to the UAE, cited World Health Organisation data, warning that global cancer diagnoses are expected to surpass 35 million annually within the next 25 years. He described cancer as one of humanity's most pressing health challenges and urged deeper scientific cooperation between Korea and the UAE.
Park also highlighted Korea's leadership in applying advanced radiation technologies and noted the UAE's recent move to introduce a carbon ion accelerator facility as a testament to its commitment to cancer care.
He concluded by affirming the strength of Korea-UAE strategic ties—originally rooted in nuclear and energy cooperation—and expressed hope that this partnership would continue to expand into the healthcare sector.

ADAFSA closes Boha Butchery in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has issued a decision to administratively close " BOHA BUTCHERY - L.L.C " located in Zayed Port - Abu Dhabi (CN- 5225559), due to violations of Law No. (2) of 2008 on food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its associated regulations. Furthermore, the establishment's practices pose a serious risk to public health. ADAFSA clarified that the food control report indicated that the administrative closure decision was issued due to repeated food safety violations and the failure to implement effective corrective measures, necessitating an immediate intervention to safeguard food safety and consumer health. The Authority also affirmed that the administrative closure order will remain in effect as long as its causes exist. The establishment may resume operations after rectifying its situation and fulfilling all the necessary requirements for practicing the activity, and removing the causes of the violation. In addition, ADAFSA highlighted that the closure and the identification of observed violations are part of ongoing inspection efforts to strengthen the food safety system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It underscores its supervisory role in ensuring that all establishments comply with food safety requirements. All types of establishments and food products are subject to periodic inspections by ADAFSA's inspectors to guarantee compliance with the highest food safety standards. The Authority also encourages the public to communicate with them and report any violations detected in any food establishment, such as non-compliance or suspicion of food content, by calling the toll-free number for the Abu Dhabi Government, 800555. ADAFSA's inspectors will take the necessary measures to ensure the delivery of safe and sound food to all members of the community in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Authorities in Abu Dhabi have shut down a butchery due to repeated food safety violations that posed a significant danger to public health. On Monday, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (Adafsa) said that it has issued a decision to administratively close Boha Butchery-LLC. located in Zayed Port. The food establishment was found violating Law No. (2) of 2008 on food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its associated regulations, it said. "Its practices pose a serious risk to public health," it added. The butchery also failed to implement effective corrective measures, necessitating an immediate intervention to safeguard food safety and consumer health. Adafsa conducts regular checks of eateries and restaurants in the UAE capital.
