Officials must prevent encroachment on forest land
Asifabad: The district has vast forest wealth and it is everyone's responsibility to protect it, said district Collector Venkatesh Dhotre while addressing the Forest Protection Committee meeting held at the Collectorate on Wednesday.
He said that 56 per cent of the district's territory is forest wealth, and the authorities should work in coordination to prevent land encroachment in the forest area.
The Collector said that poachers are killing wildlife by installing electric wires in the forest area, and innocent agricultural farmers and laborers are losing their lives due to this action.
He said that the Electricity officials should take steps to ensure that the electric wires passing through the forest are not routed along the road.
Steps should be taken to provide solar power facilities by drilling borewells in the fallow lands and cultivated lands cultivated by the tribals through the ambitious Indira Saura Giri Jal Shakti scheme being undertaken by the government.
He said that steps are being taken to construct roads and culverts to connect remote villages to the mandal centers.The development of villages being done by providing drinking water, electricity facilities and Indiramma houses to remote areas. A joint survey of the officials will be conducted to resolve the forest and revenue boundary disputes soon and all steps will be taken to identify the boundaries and officials should work in coordination to avoid encroachment of forest land.
Electricity officer Sesha Rao, Singareni Sanstha Goleti general manager Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, Panchayat Raj EE Prabhakar, FROs, revenue officials and other concerned officials attended the meeting.

Farmers seek water release
The need to desilt and deepen waterbodies, release water for the double crop region and tackle pest infestation was stressed at the farmers grievance redress meeting held at the Collectorate on Friday. At the meeting presided over by Madurai Collector M.S. Sangeetha, the farmers said that water from Mullaperiyar dam should be released for irrigating the first crop of the double crop region. Take steps for protection of wetlands, officials of Annamayya district told
Annamayya district is spruced up for World Environment Day on June 5, giving top priority to a massive tree plantation drive, wetland protection initiatives, and bolstering the forest cover. District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri on Friday directed the heads of all the departments to be prepared to contribute their mite for the success of the mega event. The Collector was addressing a review meeting with the officials of the forest, agriculture, and horticulture departments at the Collectorate here. Mr. Sridhar discussed the action plan for Environment Day activities with the officials, and the key subjects included conducting the Vanamahotsavam events across the district, identification and protection of the wetlands. The forest officials informed the Collector that the Annamayya district was home to a good number of wetland belts. Members of the Wetlands Committees across the district were advised to submit their reports promptly to chalk out the conservation strategies. The Collector observed that all departments must submit their action plans to ensure the success of World Environment Day events. 'The event should not only focus on the celebrations but also produce a tangible spirit that could make a lasting impact by galvanising the green cover and conservation of all the existing eco-systems,' the official said. Joint Collector Aadarsh Rajendran, District Forest Officer Jagannath Singh, and representatives of the NGOs attended the meeting.

Bapatla Collector orders eco-friendly practices in aqua industry, resorts in Andhra
GUNTUR: Bapatla District Collector J Venkata Murali has directed aqua industry operators, resort owners and hoteliers to run their establishments in an environmentally responsible manner. During a review meeting held at the Collectorate on Thursday, he emphasised the need to safeguard local irrigation resources and prevent pollution. He instructed aqua unit owners to allocate at least half an acre for waste management and warned against discharging waste into agricultural canals. All prawn processing units must comply with government regulations and implement environmental safeguards within 45 days, he ordered. Of the 20 aqua hatcheries in the district, seven are operating without licenses and were mandated to obtain permits within a month. Resort owners were advised to reduce plastic use and shift to glass alternatives. He emphasised compliance with Coastal Regulation Zone norms.
