(5)Irondequoit 6, (4)Hilton 5 F/OT
Colin Giudice scored the game winner with 23 seconds left in overtime as the Eagles won a tightly contested Class B quarterfinal Tuesday night at Hilton.
Gianluca Auriuso scored with 12 seconds remaining for the Cadets to force overtime. It was the final goal of six total in the fourth quarter which matched the combined goals scored in the other three periods plus overtime.
Hilton scored the only two goals in the first quarter. It was the only time either team led by more than one. The Eagles erased that deficit with the first two in the second period, but Braydon Pike netted in the final minute of the half to give Hilton a 3-2 lead at the break.
After a scoreless third, Ryan Avery and Kyle Taddeo exchanged goals 15 seconds apart in the first 21 seconds of the fourth quarter. Giudice and Cooper Moore each scored in a 50-second span to put Irondequoit in front before Auriuso equalized.
Moore and Giudice each scored twice to lead Irondequoit. Avery had a goal and an assist. Auriuso led all scorers with two goals and a helper. Taddeo added two for the Cadets.
Irondequoit moves on to Saturday's semifinals where they will face top-seeded Canandaigua. The Eagles are now 12-6. Hilton finished their year at 12-5.
(3)Pittsford 7, (6)Brighton 2
Cole Goetz had a hat trick as Pittsford pulled away in the second half for a Class B quarterfinal win at Sutherland High School.
The game was only 1-1 at the halftime as both defense dominated. Logan Serve finished with 14 saves for the Bruins. Eighth grader Bear Wehrheim had 10 for the Panthers.
Pittsford started the second half two men up and Goetz got the go-ahead goal just after the penalties expired 14 seconds into the third quarter. Longpole Dane Lewis doubled the lead with just over five minutes left in the period.
The Panthers struck twice in the final 35 seconds. Avery Valenti first wired one low. Then, Charlie Ryan found Jahyden Maiorani with only eight seconds left. A 5-1 lead was insurmountable with the two defenses in this game and Pittsford salted the win away in the fourth quarter.
Cole's brother Brady assisted on two of his goals. Valenti and Grant Lewis each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Miles McGuire and Ben Marangola had the two Brighton goals.
Pittsford moves on to face (2)Victor in Saturday's semifinals at Wayne High School. The Panthers improved to 13-3. Brighton had an 11-game win streak snapped and finished at 13-5. The last team to beat the Bruins was also Pittsford.

US Marshals track down family massacre suspect who allegedly fled to vacation hot spot

The U.S. Marshals Service on Wednesday announced the arrest of a Dominican fugitive wanted for a 2024 quadruple murder in Irondequoit, New York, near Rochester. Marshals nabbed the 31-year-old fugitive, Luis Francisco Soriano, in Puerto Rico, where he fled after allegedly killing four, including two children between the ages of 2 and 4, the USMS said in a press release. "Without a doubt, this is an exceptional job by the Deputy U.S. Marshals of the U.S. Marshals Service, both nationally and internationally," Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra, U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico, said Wednesday. "It is truly worthy of recognition, and our communities should feel reassured knowing that this fugitive has been captured and will face justice. "Every case is important to us, but this one not only deeply impacted our communities in New York and Puerto Rico, it shook our entire nation. The horrific nature of this crime, which resulted in the tragic death of a family, including two innocent children, rocked the very foundation of our society governed by law and order." Soriano and his brother, Julio Soriano, are accused of killing the two children and their parents in their Irondequoit home Aug. 31, 2024. Irondequoit police said the family's father was cousins with the Soriano brothers, according to WHEC. Soriano, also known as Jefry Yevo, apparently became aware that federal marshals were on the island before his arrest and allegedly fled to the Dominican Republic by boat. Members of the USMS in Santo Domingo, working in collaboration with Dominican authorities, learned Soriano was employed at a hotel in Punta Cana and arrested him after he completed his shift at the hotel's call center, the USMS said. Soriano will remain in Dominican custody pending extradition hearings. He faces four counts of second-degree murder and drug charges in the United States. Fox News Digital reached out to USMS.

Victor wins fourth straight sectional title, Penfield takes home first in seven years

Class A Final: (1) Penfield 16, (3) Rush-Henrietta 9 Rush-Henrietta was able to keep it close throughout the first quarter, but a Penfield explosion in the second quarter would be too much for the Royal Comets to handle. Avery Fordham and Whitney Reynolds contributed two goals each in the second quarter to help push the Patriots to a 10-3 lead at the half. The two teams tied in the second half, but the early lead would help Penfield win the Class A Sectional title. Kate DeWald led the way with four goals and two assists for Rush-Henrietta. Penfield wins their first sectional title since 2018. They will now head to Clarence for the Class A state qualifier quarterfinals against Orchard Park. That game is scheduled for Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Rush-Henrietta finishes their season 12-6. Class B Finals: (1) Victor 11, (2) Pittsford 9 Julia Bruno scored three goals, including the one to stop a fourth quarter Pittsford comeback. Late in the third quarter, Allie Pisano whipped in a free position shot to give Victor a 10-5 lead. Pittsford rallied with four straight goals to cut the lead to 10-9. Two minutes later, Maia Pronti set up Bruno for the goal that would help the Blue Devils put the game away. With the win, Victor takes home their fourth straight Class B Sectional championship. Victor's Morgan Livingston contributed two goals and two assists. Allie Pisano added two goals of her own. Pronti dished out three assists. Victor will now play Clarence, the Section VI Class B champion. That game will be held in Clarence this Saturday at 2 p.m. Pittsford's season ends at 14-5. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
