US Marshals track down family massacre suspect who allegedly fled to vacation hot spot
The U.S. Marshals Service on Wednesday announced the arrest of a Dominican fugitive wanted for a 2024 quadruple murder in Irondequoit, New York, near Rochester. Marshals nabbed the 31-year-old fugitive, Luis Francisco Soriano, in Puerto Rico, where he fled after allegedly killing four, including two children between the ages of 2 and 4, the USMS said in a press release. "Without a doubt, this is an exceptional job by the Deputy U.S. Marshals of the U.S. Marshals Service, both nationally and internationally," Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra, U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico, said Wednesday. "It is truly worthy of recognition, and our communities should feel reassured knowing that this fugitive has been captured and will face justice. "Every case is important to us, but this one not only deeply impacted our communities in New York and Puerto Rico, it shook our entire nation. The horrific nature of this crime, which resulted in the tragic death of a family, including two innocent children, rocked the very foundation of our society governed by law and order." Soriano and his brother, Julio Soriano, are accused of killing the two children and their parents in their Irondequoit home Aug. 31, 2024. Irondequoit police said the family's father was cousins with the Soriano brothers, according to WHEC. Soriano, also known as Jefry Yevo, apparently became aware that federal marshals were on the island before his arrest and allegedly fled to the Dominican Republic by boat. Members of the USMS in Santo Domingo, working in collaboration with Dominican authorities, learned Soriano was employed at a hotel in Punta Cana and arrested him after he completed his shift at the hotel's call center, the USMS said. Soriano will remain in Dominican custody pending extradition hearings. He faces four counts of second-degree murder and drug charges in the United States. Fox News Digital reached out to USMS.

Irondequoit advances in OT; Pittsford pulls away late
(5)Irondequoit 6, (4)Hilton 5 F/OT Colin Giudice scored the game winner with 23 seconds left in overtime as the Eagles won a tightly contested Class B quarterfinal Tuesday night at Hilton. Gianluca Auriuso scored with 12 seconds remaining for the Cadets to force overtime. It was the final goal of six total in the fourth quarter which matched the combined goals scored in the other three periods plus overtime. Hilton scored the only two goals in the first quarter. It was the only time either team led by more than one. The Eagles erased that deficit with the first two in the second period, but Braydon Pike netted in the final minute of the half to give Hilton a 3-2 lead at the break. After a scoreless third, Ryan Avery and Kyle Taddeo exchanged goals 15 seconds apart in the first 21 seconds of the fourth quarter. Giudice and Cooper Moore each scored in a 50-second span to put Irondequoit in front before Auriuso equalized. Moore and Giudice each scored twice to lead Irondequoit. Avery had a goal and an assist. Auriuso led all scorers with two goals and a helper. Taddeo added two for the Cadets. Irondequoit moves on to Saturday's semifinals where they will face top-seeded Canandaigua. The Eagles are now 12-6. Hilton finished their year at 12-5. (3)Pittsford 7, (6)Brighton 2 Cole Goetz had a hat trick as Pittsford pulled away in the second half for a Class B quarterfinal win at Sutherland High School. The game was only 1-1 at the halftime as both defense dominated. Logan Serve finished with 14 saves for the Bruins. Eighth grader Bear Wehrheim had 10 for the Panthers. Pittsford started the second half two men up and Goetz got the go-ahead goal just after the penalties expired 14 seconds into the third quarter. Longpole Dane Lewis doubled the lead with just over five minutes left in the period. The Panthers struck twice in the final 35 seconds. Avery Valenti first wired one low. Then, Charlie Ryan found Jahyden Maiorani with only eight seconds left. A 5-1 lead was insurmountable with the two defenses in this game and Pittsford salted the win away in the fourth quarter. Cole's brother Brady assisted on two of his goals. Valenti and Grant Lewis each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Miles McGuire and Ben Marangola had the two Brighton goals. Pittsford moves on to face (2)Victor in Saturday's semifinals at Wayne High School. The Panthers improved to 13-3. Brighton had an 11-game win streak snapped and finished at 13-5. The last team to beat the Bruins was also Pittsford. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Wild end of quarter surge powers Irondequoit
Irondequoit scored twice in the final 12 seconds of the third quarter to break a 5-5 tie and never looked back in a 9-7 home win over Canandaigua Tuesday night. The Grey Wolves are currently ranked 12th in the New York State Sportswriters Class B poll. Shannon Seymour got the go-ahead goal with 12 seconds left after a CA turnover left the ball bouncing free right in front of the net. The next play was about as efficient as it gets. Irondequoit won the faceoff and Lila Velepec got a head of steam across the Canandaigua restraining line. She fed Marin Jaeger at the top of the 8-meter arc who one-touched a pass to Revlie Genier on the crease. Genier fired without hesitation over the goalie's head with 0.6 seconds left to double the Irondequoit lead. The Eagles scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to go in front 9-5 and cruised home from there. The domination of the last 12 seconds of the third quarter did not compare to what Irondequoit did in the entirety of the second. Canandaigua could barely even clear the ball out of their own half and did not have a shot attempt the entire second period. Irondequoit got a pair of goals from Lucy Whipple sandwiched around one from Ellie Bottiglier and took a 5-2 lead to halftime. The Grey Wolves owned the third quarter. At least the first 11:48. Lola Schorr found the back of the net 13 seconds into the period and Samantha Lupton scored a pair to draw CA even before Irondequoit's late flurry. Whipple led Irondequoit with three goals. Seymour and Grace Bottiglier added two more for the Eagles. Lupton had a hat trick of her own for Penfield while Schorr and Kiera Gioseffi each finished with two goals and an assist. Irondequoit snapped a four-game losing streak to even their record at 4-4. Canandaigua fell to 5-4. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Irondequoit Supervisor Andrae Evans fails to qualify for Democratic primary ballot
Irondequoit Supervisor Andrae Evans, already battling allegations of sexual harassment, did not secure enough petition signatures for the Democratic primary. Officials with the Monroe County Board of Elections said that Evans fell short of the necessary petition signatures after a challenge. Evans had planned to seek the Democratic line for supervisor in what would be his second term if re-elected. Town Board member John Perticone is running for supervisor and has the backing of the town's Democratic committee. In a report from an investigative law firm, Evans was accused of making improper comments, laden with sexual innuendo, to a staff member as well as in more public settings with town employees. He also is accused of retaliation against town employees. Evans has been censured by the town board and ordered to work remotely. He is challenging the town board actions in court. He has refused requests to resign. Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley is also seeking Evans' removal from office in a process that would require actions by appellate judges from the state Supreme Court. The Democrat and Chronicle reached out to Evans via email Friday. Irondequoit man accused of firing gunshots on Albert St. in Gates
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — An Irondequoit man is accused firing shots into an occupied home in Gates. On February 17, officers responded to Albert Street after receiving reports of shots being fired into a home. Children and adults were in the house at the time of the shooting. Investigators were able to get a description of the suspect vehicle leaving the scene. On February 24, the Greece Police Department found the vehicle and detained 22-year-old Jalen Hannah, who allegedly was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest. At the time, he was charged with possessing a handgun without a permit. Investigators said they tested the gun against the casings found at the Gates scene and determined them to be a match. Hannah turned himself in on Thursday and was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment. He is being held at the Monroe County Jail.
