Nestled in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, one of Wales' most coveted counties, Fine & Country agent Sorcha Rodbard-Hedderwick has partnered with fellow agent Jemma Friday to market the stunning £2.2 million Llywynhelig House.
This 17th-century Grade II listed manor with five reception rooms and six bedrooms features a log cabin, a shepherd's hut, and a swimming pool, but it's the meticulously landscaped garden that Jemma believes could be the key to securing a sale.

During the show, the estate agent said of the home: "It's one of those properties people driove past and go 'wow, who lives there?'" It was revealed that the seller had retired to the property but was now downsizing after her husband had passed away shortly after they'd completed the renovations on their forever home.

28 left without school place at Glan Llyn Primary School
Glan Llyn Primary School's shortage of places was discussed at the Llanwern Community Council's annual general meeting. The meeting took place on May 27 at Llanwern Village Hall. Councillors George, Brown, Clemo, Collingbourne, Davies and Grant were in attendance, with apologies from Councillor Jones and Ward Councillor Kellaway. The issue of the school's capacity was highlighted alongside various ongoing large-scale planning applications within the Glan Llyn and Llanwern regeneration schemes. These applications, which are in different stages of approval, involve the development of residential units, a primary school, local retail and commercial units, and green infrastructure. The meeting also saw the re-election of Councillor George as Chair of the Council and Councillor Davies as Vice Chair. The council's internal audit for the financial year 2024/25 was successfully completed, with financial matters including routine payments, a £200 Chair's purse for the year, and the receipt of a £19,946 precept from Newport City Council confirmed. The council also addressed community safety and infrastructure issues, continuing their collaboration with Redrow on drainage and road improvements along Station Road. There were also concerns raised by residents of Glan Llyn about traffic safety. The council is exploring alternative measures, including radar speed signage and potential road safety enhancements, subject to regulatory approvals. Further planning is underway to develop the Village Hall car park, which now requires a Green Infrastructure Statement in line with revised Welsh planning guidance. The council is consulting specialists to incorporate biodiversity enhancements into the revised application. There are also preparations in full swing for the upcoming village fete on June 28. Dog fouling remains a local concern, with further updates expected from Ward Councillor Kellaway. The next Llanwern Community Council meeting is scheduled for June 30, 2025, to be held both in person at the Village Hall and remotely.

No changes to council tax 'in this decade', says Scottish Government
Ministers won't undertake a 'revaluation' of Council Tax as there is not a 'broad political consensus' in favour of one, a spokesperson for the government said. It comes after Public Finance Minister Ivan McKee told BBC Scotland that a revaluation of council tax bands in Scotland was 'absolutely needed'. McKee said plans were being worked on but there would be 'winners and losers'. READ MORE: YouGov poll predicts result in every Scottish seat – see the full map Currently, council tax bands are based on property values from 1991, but since then house prices have surged. Revaluation could see some homes put into more expensive bands, while others would see cuts in council tax bills. However, the Scottish Government poured cold water on any imminent changes, and said its talks with Cosla, the local government body, were intended to 'inform public debate'. McKee told the BBC's Good Morning Scotland programme that it was important to get 'political consensus' in Holyrood. 'There's absolutely a need for revaluation, and plans for that are being worked on just now,' he said. "That creates a lot of issues if people are changing the value of their property significantly in a very short period of time. "That's going to impact how you do the transition." Following the interview, a Scottish Government spokesperson said: 'We will not undertake a Council Tax revaluation. 'Ministers believe any suggestion of a revaluation could only proceed if a broad political consensus in favour existed. READ MORE: Patrick Harvie and Angus Robertson face-off over Israel divestment 'They do not believe that consensus currently exists. 'Any changes to Council Tax must also be informed by robust evidence and wide public consultation. 'Our joint programme of engagement with Cosla on options for reform is intended to inform that public debate. 'This process will run for a number of years. Ministers believe any plan for substantial reform thereafter, including any suggestion of revaluation, would require a mandate from a Scottish Parliament Election and that this will not be possible this decade.' We previously told how analysis carried out by the Commission on Local Tax Reform suggested that over half of all properties in Scotland would have changed band if there had been a revaluation in 2014. And, a budding MSP has drawn up draft legislation for replacing council tax and allowing local authorities to replace it with a property tax based on the real market value of homes.
