UDA Aims To Produce Talented Young Bowlers Via CSR Programme
IPOH, July 24 (Bernama) -- UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) aims to produce young bowling talent through its UDA Cares: 'Bangunkan Komuniti, Lahirkan Juara' corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, in addition to strengthening its commitment towards community development.
UDA chairman Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini said the effort is being implemented as it realises that bowling is a costly sport and it doesn't want any young talent to miss out due to financial constraints.
"Bowling, which is an expensive sport and involves high participation costs, often denies talented youngsters who are still schooling, especially the B40 group, the opportunity to actively take up the sport.
"UDA is confident that this group has hidden talent and can be groomed to become champions if given the space, opportunity, guidance and support,' he said at the UDA Cares Project 'Bangunkan Komuniti, Lahirkan Juara' Programme media conference at Angsana Mall here today.
He said the programme, implemented through a strategic public-private sector collaboration, is capable of elevating bowling as a holistic development platform for the younger generation in building identity and discipline and fostering the spirit of sportsmanship.
The UDA Cares: 'Bangunkan Komuniti, Lahirkan Juara' was established in February, and it held its first meeting with the relevant agencies to ensure the programme is implemented smoothly and has a significant impact.
The selection of participants was held on June 10 and 11, involving 120 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sri Kinta, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Kampung Simee, SK Cator Avenue and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Chung Tack Simee.
A total of 30 talented students were identified, and they are undergoing a 16-week intensive training from June 16 to Oct 6.
Mohd Annuar also said that those selected are being guided by former national bowler Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi, who hails from Ipoh.

Immigration FC Eye Darul Aman Stadium As Super League Home Ground
ALOR SETAR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Immigration FC (IFC) aim to make Darul Aman Stadium here their home ground for the 2025/2026 Super League season. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the team, which is under the Home Ministry, has sent a letter to the Kedah State Stadium Corporation for that purpose. 'But while waiting for a reply, we have to make preparations first. So for now, Batu Kawan Stadium in Penang will serve as IFC's home ground. bootstrap slideshow 'In addition, the Dato' Sheikh Ahmad Stadium (Kangar), which is undergoing renovation, will also be considered once the work is completed in two or three months,' he said. He was speaking to reporters at the unveiling of IFC's jersey and player line-up for the 2025/2026 Super League season here last night. Saifuddin Nasution said that as newcomers to the Super League, IFC, also known as the Mighty Tigers, hope to use Darul Aman Stadium as their home ground as it is seen as the best choice. 'We plan to lease Darul Aman Stadium for one season, which will generate good revenue for the stadium. It also won't clash with A1 League matches, which are played in the evening, while Super League matches are held at night,' he said. He added that IFC chose to base itself in Kedah or Perlis to give fans in the northern region an opportunity to watch Super League matches since no teams from either state will be competing in the league this season. 'So IFC offers an option for the northern region. If they want to see a team like JDT play up north, the best opportunity is when they play an away match against IFC. But fans will also have a second option of watching teams competing in the A1 League,' he said.
