‘Every day is brighter and better': Meghan, Duchess of Sussex shares rare photos of Lilibet in birthday post
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has shared rare photos of her daughter, Lilibet, to mark the princess' fourth birthday.
In one black-and-white picture, posted on Instagram on Wednesday, Meghan can be seen cuddling Lilibet, whose face is partially visible behind her mother's hand and arm.
'Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day,' wrote Meghan in the caption.
A second photo in the post shows Meghan cradling Lilibet, whose face is visible in profile, shortly after her birth.
The princess was born on June 4, 2021, a year after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their roles as senior royals and moved to the United States.
Meghan and husband Prince Harry are known to fiercely guard the privacy of Lilibet and older brother Prince Archie, 6.
The couple did release a Christmas card last year that featured a rare photo of both children, but their backs are to the camera as they run towards their parents. Five other images appeared on the card, all depicting engagements from the year. It marked the first time since 2021 that Harry and Meghan released a Christmas card featuring their children.
In April, Meghan revealed that she had suffered from postpartum preeclampsia, calling the potentially fatal condition 'so rare and so scary.'
'The world doesn't know what's happening quietly,' Meghan said on the debut episode of her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast.
'And in the quiet, you're still trying to show up for people… mostly for your children, but those things are huge medical scares.'
Most cases of postpartum preeclampsia develop within 48 hours of childbirth, but it can develop four to six weeks postpartum, according to the Mayo Clinic. Postpartum preeclampsia can cause seizures and other serious complications if left untreated.

Meghan's ‘hotel and restaurant' plan revealed as she looks to expand empire
Don't miss out on the headlines from Royals. Followed categories will be added to My News. The Duchess of Sussex is adding hotels and restaurants to her brand wish list as she goes on a social media charm offensive to win new fans. Ex-actress Meghan is trademarking her lifestyle firm As Ever for 'hospitality services'. It will include places to stay, 'provision of food and drink' and temporary lodgings, reports The Sun. The 43-year-old could serve some of her own food creations — including recipes flaunted on her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. Experts say it shows her ambition to move forward and focus on the future, while husband Prince Harry, 40, seems stuck reflecting on the past. She has spent the year rebranding herself away from runaway royal to a lifestyle, entertaining and star hostess. Meghan Markle sold out of her As Ever product range in less than an hour. Picture: Instagram She has been focused on her rebrand in recent months. Picture: Instagram Brand experts said hotels and restaurants fit in with her lifestyle business image. In the first episode of her eight-part TV series in March, Meghan said: 'When I have someone stay, one of my favourite things to do is prep the guest room.' A second series has already been filmed and will be released in the autumn. Her lifestyle brand's website says: 'As Ever is more than a brand — it's a love language. 'Created by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, As Ever welcomes you to a collection of products, each inspired by her long-lasting love of cooking, entertaining and hostessing.' On Saturday, her As Ever page posted a new picture of her running through the sea in a white dress. It was captioned: 'So excited for all the good to come! 'Running into the weekend like', with an ocean wave emoji added. She has also been increasingly active on Instagram after relaunching her personal account on New Year's Day. Last week, she shared an 80-second video of her twerking in hospital in a bid to induce labour when she was pregnant and overdue with Lilibet. It attracted criticism in Britain for being vulgar. But a source said: 'Meghan is very pleased with the video. 'In the UK everyone's reaction has been a bit prudish but everywhere else, particularly in America and especially with young people, it's been a huge hit. At the Time100 summit in April. Picture:for TIME 'Californian royalty' 'Her new products are marketed at Americans and not the UK.' Meghan has also posted videos of her family at Disneyland, beekeeping with daughter Lilibet, and going to a Beyonce concert with Harry. Her As Ever Instagram page launched in February. Posts include pictures of her gardening, preparing fresh fruit and baking. PR and branding expert Jack Izzard, of Gallia Communications, said of her trademark application: 'In terms of positioning, it's not a million miles from where As Ever is. 'She is very much positioning herself as a star hostess, Californian royalty who makes her guests feel welcome. 'The issue she's potentially going to have is that's a completely different skill set, running a hospitality business. 'A night in an As Ever B&B will be several hundred pounds. 'That's really going to blow up if it's bad.' Mr Izzard said her recent activities are 'all about her reclaiming her voice' and building her brand. He added: 'She always intimated she was stifled by life in the Royal Family. 'She's got to earn a living. It's very much 'I'm this Californian hostess now'. 'Harry's still stuck in the past and trying to settle scores. 'She is looking ahead, forging this brand.' Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were approached for comment. Jessie J suffers panic attack on 'worst day so far' after breast cancer diagnosis
Jessie J was left in floods of tears after suffering a panic attack on the "worst day so far" following her breast cancer diagnosis. The 37-year-old pop star went public with her health issues last week revealing she is battling an "early" form of the disease and is currently undergoing tests before surgery later in the year - and now the mom-of-one has revealed she has been feeling overwhelmed as she comes to terms with her health crisis. In a message posted on Instagram, she wrote: "Honestly, had my worst day so far yesterday since my diagnosis and the busiest three months I have had in years. Work. Toddler. Cancer. life etc had my mind [drained]. "'Panic attacks/ tears. big fears/ anger/ overwhelm bad. [sic]." However, Jessie J went on to reveal she found a very simple way to make herself feel better - eating a corn on the cob. She added: "And you know what helped?' I ate a corn on the cob. Turns out it's extremely hard to panic or cry while eating one. Highly recommend. Instead mood shift." Jessie added: "Tomorrow is a new day. The [rollercoaster] of cancer is [draining]. I won't be just talking about the highlights. And making jokes all the time. That isn't real life. Goodnight." The following day, Jessie returned to social media to explain she's glad she shared her feelings because she felt "completely drowned in all the negative and bad feelings" relating to her cancer battle. She wrote: IMO. It's [key] to acknowledge fear anger sadness panic overwhelm and let it come up and come out. holding it in won't make it go away. In any challenging situation in life. "So when I posted what I did yesterday about my current challenge in life, also while making light of the situation. That was one day in 10 weeks that I just lost it and was completely drowned in all the negative and bad feelings any cancer journey can bring. Which is healthy and needed. "So I will cry, I will be scared, I will panic, I will feel all of it for a minute or even a full day. And then eat a [corn] or listen to a song that lifts me up or laugh with a friend on Face Time. And then go and be a mum, and go to work and show up and be what I feel 90 per cent of the time. "Strong, fearless, healthy, and make some jokes about it all because that's my way. But i will not ignore the 10 per cent that is fear and sadness". Jessie - who is mother to two-year-old son Sky with basketball star Chanan Colman - previously revealed she was given the diagnosis prior to the release of her single, 'New Secrets' on April 25 and she has been "in and out of tests" since. She said in an Instagram video: "Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word 'early'. "Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period."
