‘This £3 hair mask gives my blonde hair a salon-like tone in just a few minutes'

Daily Mirror03-07-2025
A sworn fan of this sulfate-free affordable hair care brand, Shopping Writer Meghan has put Hask's new blonde hair care line to the test and the results have blown her away
I have always struggled to keep my hair pearly blonde, especially on the day I get my roots done; for some reason, no purple shampoo or at-home toners have worked as well, and I'd like to get my hair back to that just-toned white colour that I get from the hairdressers. But that all changed two weeks ago.
My new favourite haircare brand, Hask, has released yet another new line of products specifically targeted for treating and restoring blonde hair while waving goodbye to yellow and brassy tones. As I've already become a Hask devotee thanks to their Argon Oil and Repair lines (which I've already reviewed), I thought I'd take this new Blonde Care range for a spin to see what difference it would make to my blonde curls. And once again, Hask has delivered.
The new Blonde Care line includes the HASK Blonde Care Purple Toning Shampoo (£13.28), the HASK Blonde Care Purple Toning Conditioner (£6.99) and the HASK Blonde Care Deep Conditioner Treatment (£2.99), all of which are available on Amazon.
Working to enhance both natural and bleached blonde hair while eradicating that unwanted brass, HASK's Blonde Care Collection is touted as your summer go-to for refreshing your soft, summer-ready strands. The new shampoo and conditioner feature hydrating elderberry oil and rejuvenating Vitamin C to keep damage and brass at bay, leaving hair feeling covetable, smooth and rejuvenated with every wash.
The HASK Toning Shampoo and Conditioner are set to work as regular top-ups to fight yellowing and brassy undertones creeping in. They essentially act as a regular at-home toner that rejuvenates hair and brings back that salon-like finish from your own shower.
I've been using these for just over two weeks, as an alternative to HASK's argon oil shampoo and conditioner with every other hair wash. The stubborn parts of my hair that tend to go yellow first and stay yellow, even after long toning treatments, have lifted to a paler, near-white colour akin to that which I get from the hairdressers.
The sulfate-free formula in all of HASK's shampoos and conditioners ensures minimal damage caused by ingredients like sulfates while restoring the health and shine to your hair. My hair, which typically falls on the dryer side, has felt so healthy and silky smooth since HASK has taken over my whole haircare routine, and now my blonde hair is getting a loving tone, too.
But the real winner of this new line is this £3 Deep Conditioning Treatment, which is a miracle worker for refreshing strands, making them look salon-fresh and ready for shining in the summer sun. I don't think I've ever used an at-home blonde treatment that leaves my hair feeling so soft and silky while also fully restored to the platinum blonde shade I get from the hairdresser's.
The mask may look scary at first, as it is purple, but so long as you don't leave the mask on for longer than the instructed 5 minutes, your hair will come out pearly white with silver undertones, without a purple hue. That said, if your hair is highly susceptible to picking up pigment from purple shampoo, you may want to wash it out before the 5-minute mark. The first time I used mine, I left it in for only 3 minutes as I was worried about purple stains, but I have subsequently left it in for the full amount of time without issue.
The £2.99 sachet is a real bargain as it comes with two to three treatments in one, though depending on how long and thick your hair is, you might find that it's enough for just one thorough treatment.
You can pick up the HASK Blonde Care Shampoo, Conditioner and my new favourite Blonde Care hair mask on Amazon, as well as the original HASK Argon Oil Shampoo, or one of their other products, such as the Tea Tree Oil Shampoo. You can also pick up the HASK hair mask from Perfumes Club for £2.85.

My spending was out of control until I made easy change everyone can do – it helped me pay off £9k debt on £9k salary

DEBT CHANGE My spending was out of control until I made easy change everyone can do – it helped me pay off £9k debt on £9k salary Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) OPENING her credit card statements Jo Beevers feels sick. She knew she had a problem with impulsive spending but she had never faced up to it, until now. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Jo Beevers, 46, got her spending under control with an easy trick anyone can do The 46-year-old, who lives near Chester, had always been in debt and was stuck in a constant cycle of doing 0% balance transfers. But going from a full-time job as an medical conditions and injury rehabilitation manager in a gym earning £30,000 to a working as a registrar 16 hours a week earning £9,000, Jo had no option but to stop hiding from it all and gain control. Jo said: 'I had £9,099.82 of credit card and overdraft debt and when I looked at where that money had been going, I felt ashamed. 'My spending was reckless because the money didn't feel real and I treated shopping like a hobby even though I was skint.' In 2018 Jo's "you only live once" outlook on money saw her buy a Volkswagen Up! for £9,000 while her husband, who works in IT, was away. And after a boozy lunch popped into Boots and spent £300 on perfumes she didn't need. Amazon parcels turned up every day and she even had a monthly delivery of two bottles of champagne from its Subscribe and Save service. Jo said: "It was ridiculous. If I had to hand over £80 in cash for two bottles of champagne every month I wouldn't have done it. 'But because it all went on the credit card, I didn't think about it. I knew I was bad but I could always justify my spending." Done with feeling guilty, stressed and worried about her mounting debt Jo stuffed her credit cards in a drawer and was ruthless in cancelling everything that was non-essential. I racked up £15k debt - here's how I paid it off as a single mum Then, she made one major change, at the beginning of every month she physically took out the remaining money after bills and groceries. Jo created a tracker and, in the beginning, divided the cash into different envelopes but it wasn't as easy as she thought and became overwhelmed. Jo said: 'I made loads of mistakes in the first three months by thinking the money could go further than it did. 'I created too many envelopes and the money couldn't stretch as far as I wanted it to.' Giving up temporarily, Jo worked through the overwhelm of emotions and prioritised where her money should be going and got herself back on track. She said: "Holding the money changed how I thought about it, it made it feel real. 'I had sections for debt, achievable savings goals and for non-essential spending. "Once I'd figured it out it was easy. It's so visual, it works for my mind.' Determined to pay off her debt and to keep on track, Jo created fun trackers to gamify her savings and to keep her motivated. She shared her journey on social media as @Cashbudgetbee and her trackers caught the eye of her followers. Stumbling on another way of topping up her part-time income, Jo began selling them on Etsy which has made £2,000 in the last 12 months. Jo said: 'I never thought it possible to find a way of making some extra money from my own debt clearing journey. 'But it made me feel normal to know that there were other people out there just like me.' Staying motivated was hard that's why she made the videos to share with her followers. When Jo hit a milestone, she popped into M&S and bought some champagne to treat herself, but a £22 one instead of a £40 bottle. But it can be a slippery slope, and the entrepreneurial mum, had to reign herself in. She said: 'It starts with one thing and then you're going back into old habits. And you go, 'Oh no I'm not debt free yet.'' Eighteen months on and Jo made her final payment on her credit card and if that wasn't enough, she also went into Christmas 2024 with money saved. She said: 'Being debt free is amazing, I'm the happiest I've ever been. Having money to spend at Christmas, rather than relying on credit cards was a great feeling.' But while she's riding high on clearing her debts, Jo doesn't feel like she can relax her new routine. She said: 'It really does worry me that I'll slip back as I've got 30 years-worth of spending habits to break. 'I've noticed some of my old shopping habits are sneaking back in. On Valentine's Day I didn't put anything in the budget as we hadn't planned anything. 'Then the day before I was online and putting all sorts in my basket, thankfully I was able to recognise what I was doing and stopped. All I can do is to keep trying.' Jo is giving herself new challenges to keep the momentum going and recently created an e-book sharing her own journey which she's already made £180 from.

'Comfortable' 4 seater garden set drops from £139 to £65 but sale ends soon

'Beautiful. Sturdy and comfortable than suitable for a smaller space.' Dunelm's huge clearance sale will soon be coming to an end, which has seen thousands of must-have products get their price tags slashed up to 50 per cent. Those who have had their eye on something will need to be fast as the event is set to finish at midnight on August 18. For shoppers looking to upgrade their garden furniture to provide comfortable seating for friends and family, Dunelm has a variety of popular sets available both in and out of the sale. However, for those wanting to save a bit of money, we have found the perfect set. The Dunelm 4 Seater Garden Dining Set usually retails for £139, but shoppers can now snatch it up for £69.50. This set comes with everything a household could need, including four chairs, a table and a parasol to stick in the middle so families can enjoy a meal without the sun's glare. Crafted to ensure full flexibility for your outdoor space, this garden dining set consists of metal furniture that will withstand various weather conditions, including the wind and rain. However, for times of the year when it is too cold and gloomy to be outside, Dunelm recommends using a cover to further protect the furniture so it can be used for many years to come. Along with its sturdy design, many shoppers have praised the chairs for being comfortable to sit in, which is a must for making the most of the warm, summer weather. Perfect for a warm coffee in the morning with a good book or dinner and drinks with loved ones, this dining set provides shoppers with more than enough space to entertain and ensure a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Alternatively, for those wanting to add a pop of colour to their homes, Argos has dropped the price of Habitat Cali 4 Seater Metal Patio Set in yellow. Normally retailing for £150, shoppers can now buy it for £100.50 in the clearance sale. This set includes a table, two single seats and a double sofa. For those looking for something smaller, Amazon has reduced the price of the URBNLIVING 3pc Outdoor Garden Furniture Set. Now £69.99 (RRP £89.99), this rattan set consists of two chairs with cushions for added comfort as well as a table. Back to Dunelm's four seater garden set, many shoppers have praised it for how comfortable and stylish its design is. However, there were mixed opinions on how easy the set is to assemble. One satisfied shopper said: "An excellent table chairs and parasol set. Found it very easy to erect and getting it at a discount price bonus. Staff where very helpful and Dunelm delivery were great can't say enough about the whole experience brilliant. Would give it more than five stars." While another five-star reviewer added: "Garden set absolutely beautiful looks lovely in the garden. It was easy to assemble." However, one shopper grumbled: "Lovely colour (grey). Putting the chairs together WILL test your patience and I have plenty patience for any flat pack!! OK for the sale price." While another customer commented: "Lovely patio set for the money. Hard to attach stretcher on the back of the chair without strong help is the only fault." As a few people noted about struggling to assemble the chairs, Dunelm has since added an instruction video to its website to help make the process easier. This can be found with the product images. On the flip side, a top reviewer praised: "Beautiful. Sturdy and comfortable than suitable for a smaller space." While a sixth customer said: "Very stylish, light and practical. Seats are comfortable for prolonged seating time. Easy wipe/dry. Excellent value for money." There isn't much time left to get the Dunelm 4 Seater Garden Dining Set for half price. 'Attractive' £100 fire pit that's ideal for long summer nights drops to £44

For those wanting to make the most of the long summer nights, a fire pit is the perfect option for when the temperatures drop. With Scotland enjoying another spell of warm weather this week, many of us are wanting to make the most of the longer nights before temperatures start to drip as we head into the autumn months. For those wanting to enjoy their outdoor space with friends and family well into the night, households may want to consider buying a fire pit. Providing extra warmth, a relaxing atmosphere and a chance to roast marshmallows, a fire pit could be a fun addition to your garden. And shoppers don't need to break the bank on their purchase as Debenhams has slashed 56 per cent off a popular fire pit in their end-of-summer sale. Normally retailing for £99.99, the Neo Black Large Circular Outdoor Garden Heater is just £44.25. Featuring a compact and sleek design, this stylish pot-shaped fire pit will elevate every garden set up. Made with durable high-quality materials that are weather resistant, this heater is sure to have cozy gatherings going on well into night. Along with a protective mesh lid to keep you and your loved ones safe, the pit also comes with a heat-resistant fire poker to help with log lifting, fire maintenance and extra protection while lifting the hot mesh lid. For extra stability for use in a garden, patio or while camping, the base comes with three sturdy legs. Another option on the market is the Argos Home Foldable Firepit. Dropped down from £50 to £40, this portable fire pit comes with its own carry bag for easy transportation. Suitable for charcoal or wood, this heater also comes with a grill so it can be used as a BBQ. Alternatively, for those not wanting to deal with building a fire, Amazon is selling the DONYER POWER Electric Quartz Patio Heater for £59.84 (RRP £62.99). This free standing heater can warm up in a matter of seconds and comes with three heating modes. Back to the Neo Fire Pit, Debenhams shoppers have awarded it a 4.7 star rating, with many reviewers impressed by the bargain price and quality of the fire pit. One delighted shopper said: "Brilliant fire pit bowl. Great size! Good quality! Great price! Bought in the sale! Does the job! Highly recommend!" While another five-star reviewer simply wrote: "A good size, easily assembled, and great for the price." However, not everyone was fully impressed with the garden must-have, as one person wrote: "Looks good, worth the money, only downside is the fork is short, when full fire and trying to lift on/off the cover." The Darla Floral Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set has been crafted from a soft cotton to keep cool amidst the current hot spell, with the pink colourway included in the offer. Dunelm shoppers have loved the Darla bedding set so much they can't stop gushing over it, as one said: "Really pretty bedding. Feels great in the bed. Washes well, easy to iron, and excellent quality." While another five-star reviewer added: "Lovely sage green fresh colour brightens the bedroom up for the summer. Washes good low spin as can crease but iron well." Get the popular Darla Floral Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set for 30 per cent less at Dunelm.
