Trump going after Harvard because his son was rejected? Melania says Barron did not apply to the Ivy League school
Melania Trump stated that her son Barron never submitted an application to Harvard. She said anyone saying he applied or someone applied for him is lying. People online started a conspiracy theory saying Trump's attacks on Harvard are because Barron didn't get in, as per reports.
Trump has been going after Harvard for months, saying the university is not doing enough to stop antisemitism on campus. Because of that, Trump froze Harvard's funding and took away their right to bring in international students, unless they follow his demands, as per the report by Daily Beast.
This made people wonder if it was personal revenge for Barron not getting in. Even a US Senator talked about it. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island, questioned on X how many members of the Trump family were rejected by Harvard, as reported by the New York Post.

Barron is actually studying at New York University, in the Stern School of Business. He just finished his first year there, and Trump said he got into 'a lot of schools' but didn't say which ones. Trump also said Barron is a 'smart guy' and that he didn't want to go to Wharton, as mentioned in the reports.
Harvard was started in 1636, even before America was a country. It's also the richest university in the US with a $50 billion endowment, and only accepts about 4% of applicants, as stated by the reports. None of Trump's children have gone to Harvard. But Jared Kushner, who is Trump's son-in-law, did go to Harvard. His dad donated $2.5 million the same year Jared got in.

US judge stops Trump administration from cancelling legal documents of 5,000 Venezuelans
A US federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from cancelling work permits and other legal documents held by about 5,000 Venezuelans living in the country under temporary protection. In a ruling on Friday night, US District Judge Edward Chen said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem likely acted beyond her powers when she decided in February to cancel documents that allowed these individuals to work and live legally in the United States. The decision comes after the US Supreme Court on May 19 allowed the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelans more broadly. TPS is granted to people from countries facing war, natural disasters, or other crises. But the court had also said its decision did not prevent affected individuals from challenging the cancellation of specific documents issued under the TPS programme. These documents had been granted during the final days of former President Joe Biden's term, when the Department of Homeland Security extended TPS for Venezuelans by 18 months, to October 2026. Secretary Noem later reversed that extension. Lawyers for several Venezuelans and the National TPS Alliance argued that without valid documents, many people could lose their jobs or face deportation. They asked the judge to confirm that the documents remained valid. 'There is nothing in the law that gives the Secretary the power to cancel those documents,' Judge Chen wrote in his ruling, according to Reuters. He also pointed out that only around 5,000 Venezuelans hold the specific documents in question. 'This smaller number cuts against any contention that the continued presence of these TPS holders… would be a toll on the national or local economies or a threat to national security,' he said. The Department of Homeland Security has not commented on the ruling. The judge's decision came just hours after the US Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to end a separate immigration programme that had granted temporary entry, or 'parole,' to more than 500,000 people from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua. A statement, jointly signed by 23 MLAs stated, "We feel and share the enormous suffering endured by the people of Manipur over the past two years. As elected representatives, we are united in our firm belief that a long-term solution to the crisis is both possible and necessary." Live Events "Such a solution must rest on the pillars of political will, inclusive dialogue, constitutional safeguards and impartial endorsement of law and order. It is our collective conviction that this journey must be undertaken in close cooperation between the Centre, state, civil society and community leaders," it added. The meeting was attended by senior BJP MLAs, including Govindas Konthoujam, Y Khemchand Singh and L Susindro Meitei. "During our deliberations, we thoroughly examined mechanisms for inclusive dialogue involving representation of all communities in Manipur. We strongly support the establishment of a neutral dialogue platform to facilitate constructive meditation between Meitei and Kuki Zo communities aimed at building trust and consensus on critical issues," the statement added. "The meeting also considered the feasibility of formally approaching the governor and the central leadership to appoint a peace envoy or a panel of eminent persons, comprising voices from within and outside Manipur. Such a body operating with full support of the Union government and the state administration would play a vital role in facilitating impartial mediation and bridging the trust deficit among the communities," they said. "We emphasise the critical importance of inter-community people-to-people dialogue at grassroots level involving local governance institutions, civil society groups, student bodies and religious institutions. This will lay the foundation of healing, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence," the legislators said. "We underscored the need of central paramilitary forces and state forces to act with strict neutrality and reiterated the urgency of a well-monitored effort to recover looted weapons and disarmament in the hills and the valley," the statement said. The legislators also acknowledged the "public desire to see the formation of a popular government". "We discussed pathways to achieve this with unity and selflessness. We resolve to put aside personal ambitions in the larger interests of the state, its people, and the vision of BJP and its alliance partners in Manipur," they said. "With collective determination and inclusive leadership, we believe the state can once again find its path towards unity and progress," they added. The signatories of its statement did not include former chief minister N Biren Singh or Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh. On May 28, 10 NDA MLAs met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla in the Raj Bhawan. The MLAs also submitted a list of 22 MLAs seeking formation of a government. With BJP falling to find a consensus candidate for the chief ministership, President's rule was imposed on, four days after Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, who was heading a BJP-led government for the second term, resigned on February 9, following ethnic violence. A senior BJP leader, who did not want to be named, said, 'There are too many candidates in the fray for the chief minister ship. Assembly Speaker Satyabrata Singh and former Municipal Administrations, Housing and former Urban Development minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh were vying for the chief minister's post.' He said two former ministers, including Th Biswajit and Govindas Konthoujam were also in the race. Over 260 people were killed, more than 1,500 injured, and over 70,000 people displaced after the ethnic violence broke out between the Meitei and the Kuki-Zo people on May 3, 2023, after a 'Tribal Solidarity March', organised in the hill districts to protest the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status.

Iran Has Increased Production Of Near Weapons-Grade Uranium: UN Watchdog
Quick Read Summary is AI generated, newsroom reviewed. The IAEA's report indicates Iran's uranium stockpile enriched to 60% has risen to 408.6 kg, raising concerns amid US-Iran nuclear deal talks. Iranian officials deny imminent agreements, while Trump remains optimistic about a potential deal without conflict. The International Atomic Energy Agency's confidential report reveals that Iran's stockpile of uranium enriched to near weapons-grade levels has seen a significant surge. As of May 17, the country amassed 408.6 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60%, marking an increase of 133.8 kilograms since the agency's last report in February. This development comes at a sensitive time especially with the ongoing talks between Tehran and Washington over a possible nuclear deal. The IAEA Director-General, Rafael Mariano Grossi, has expressed his concerns, stating that Iran is the only non-nuclear weapon state enriching to this level. He urges Tehran to cooperate fully and effectively with the agency. Meanwhile, senior Iranian officials have dismissed speculation about an imminent nuclear deal with the United States, emphasising that any agreement must fully lift sanctions and allow the country's nuclear program to continue. However, Trump said on Friday that he still thinks a deal could be completed in the 'not too distant future.' US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about reaching a deal, stating that Iran would rather make a deal than face potential conflict. Trump said, "They don't want to be blown up. They would rather make a deal... That would be a great thing that we could have a deal without bombs being dropped all over the Middle East." Trump has also warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to not carry out preemptive strikes on Iran's nuclear program while the talks are still ongoing.
