I'm an interiors expert, kids bedroom hack will save you thousands and the wee ones will love it
But experts say transforming their bedroom into a haven of playfuness and comfort is entirely achievable - and doesn't need to cost the earth.

According to Zara O'Hare, from Land of Rugs, the key is balancing creativity with practicality.
She said: "A well-designed room should grow with your child and inspire their imagination, without overwhelming parents with upkeep.
"Keep it adaptable and enjoyable. When a room feels personal, practical, and playful, it becomes a space where your child can truly thrive."
Here Zara shares her five hacks for getting the most out of your kids' space.
A child's room isn't just for sleeping.
It is where stories are imagined, toys come to life and quiet moments unfold. Zara says it's key to think about how your child uses the space each day.
She said: "Are they into painting, building, or curling up with a book?
"Shape the room around their personality, but keep it simple enough to tidy quickly. After all, no one wants to spend hours cleaning up every day."
SMART STORAGE
Clutter is the number one issue in most children's rooms, so clever storage is a must.
I bought a 1997 static caravan for £5k & am transforming it into my dream tiny home with DIY & Dunelm buys
The goal is to make tidying up quick and doable for both kids and parents.
Zara explains: "Labelled baskets, stackable boxes and under-bed drawers can transform how you manage mess.
"It's also important to keep favourite items within reach so kids can play and then put them away on their own."
EASY TO UPDATE
Children's tastes change fast. What they love at four might not stick at seven and you can end up wasting thousands on something that will be changed in a year or so.
The expert suggests going for décor that can be updated easily - and doesn't cost the earth - like peel and stick wall decals, interchangeable prints, or neutral furniture with colourful accessories.
This way, their room can grow with them without needing a full makeover every time they fall in love with a new character or colour.
You can pick up decals for under £10 at places like The Range and Dunelm.
SAFE AND COSY
A child's room should be a retreat that is safe, calming and comfortable.
Prioritise safety features, especially for younger kids, and use soft textures to define areas and reduce noise.
Zara says: "Rounded edges on furniture are always a good idea, and heavy items should be secured to the wall,.
"Layer in plush rugs and cushions to make the space warm and tactile. It really helps kids wind down after a busy day."
LET THEM HELP
Your child's room should reflect who they are. The expert says get them involved, whether it is picking a wall colour, choosing a poster, or deciding where the fairy lights go.
These little decisions can help them feel proud of their space and more connected to it.

John Lewis announces big shake-up across all 36 UK stores in bid to rival Next and M&S
JOHN Lewis has announced a big shake-up across all 36 of its UK stores in a bid to rival Next and M&S. The retailer will bolster its fashion offering to customers by adding 100 new menswear and womenswear clothing brands later this year. 1 The department-store chain will release its new premium collections this autumn in a bid to boost fashion sales. In what is expected to cause a fashion frenzy, the new additions will include an exclusive range of 25 bags and accessories from high-end handbag maker Mulberry. Other brands such as Akyn, By Malene Birger and Iro will also join the exciting new line-up. Customers will also be treated to new camping wear additions from Japan's Snowpeak and parkas from the popular Newcastle designer, Nigel Cabourn. John Lewis will also expand its own-label range too including its largest-ever cashmere range which is hoped to increase cashmere sales by 20 per cent. John Lewis currently stocks over 650 clothing brands overall. £800 million plan The move comes as the high-street giant drives forward with a wider £800 million turnaround. John Lewis last year pledged to inject more than £250million into its stores over two years as part of the restorations, which will pump a total of £800million into the John Lewis brand over the next four years. This has included refurbishing its stores and recruiting more shop floor staff while also investing in refreshing its Waitrose stores. The retailer added 49 new fashion brands earlier this year to bolster its spring / summer range. Nostalgic 90's retailer files for bankruptcy after chain misses rent payments for June and July Peter Ruis, who joined John Lewis last year as executive director, is overseeing the turnaround programme. With over 30 years of fashion experience at brands such as Jigsaw and Anthropologie, he said the new strategy would give customers "even more reasons to shop in our brilliant stores". He told The Telegraph that the "sky is the limit" when it comes to the retailer's hopes for boosting its fashion sales. Clothing revenues could more than double from £1.2 billion to £2.5 billion as a result of the retailer's fashion overhaul. It comes as Global Data figures indicate both Next and M&S have increased their share of the clothing and footwear market between 2019 and 2024. While John Lewis' market share has remained flat during that time at 1.5 per cent. Rachel Morgans, director of fashion at John Lewis, said the retailer is 'carefully curating a premium quality range that offers customers something different'. 'When it comes to brands, we're not chasing numbers, but focusing on those that appeal to our customers and offer something new," she added. They're likely to capture on additional spending too as M&S grapples with a recent cyber attack that crippled its online operations for weeks, according to Louise Deglise-Favre from Global Data. She said that it presents an "opportunity for John Lewis to capture some of its lost spending". Online orders were brought back six weeks later in June while click-and-collect resumed this month. Makeovers and credit card perks John Lewis has also kicked off the makeover of its nationwide beauty halls as part of the £800million investment. The retailer unveiled the new concept at its Liverpool store earlier this month, with five more set to open this year. There have been changes to John Lewis' credit card perks too. Since August 1, partnership credit card holders have seen their rewards reduced when shopping with other retailers. Previously, customers earned one point for every £4 spent at other stores, with each point converting into 1p and redeemable as gift vouchers for John Lewis and its sister brand, Waitrose. However, the spending threshold has now increased to £10, meaning customers need to spend more at other retailers or wait longer to accumulate rewards.

Rukmini Iyer's quick and easy recipe for charred corn salad with halloumi, broccoli and black beans
This is my version of a chopped salad, and I love the textural contrast of the crisp broccoli against the soft black beans and squeaky halloumi. The lime-and-spring-onion dressing makes everything sing, while the slightly bitter note of the charred corn keeps things interesting. A filling rainbow salad for warm days. Prep 15 min Cook 15 min Serves 2-3 2 tbsp olive oil300g tin sweetcorn, drained225g halloumi, cut into ½cm slices200g Tenderstem broccoli, cut into ½cm pieces400g tin black beans, drained and rinsedFinely grated zest and juice of 1 lime20ml extra-virgin olive oil1 tsp flaky sea salt 3 spring onions, trimmed and finely sliced Put a tablespoon of oil in a large, heavy-based saucepan on a high heat. When it's almost smoking, add the sweetcorn (stand well back!), then fry, stirring occasionally, for five minutes, until charred all over (stand back when you stir, too, because it's going to try to pop at you like popcorn). Transfer the charred corn to a large bowl, then turn down the heat to medium, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and fry the halloumi for three minutes on each side, until well browned. Tip into the bowl with the sweetcorn. Meanwhile, put the broccoli and black beans in a bowl, cover with just-boiled water and leave to blanch for two minutes. Drain well and add to the sweetcorn bowl. In a small bowl, whisk the lime juice and zest, extra-virgin olive oil, sea salt and spring onions, then pour this dressing over the sweetcorn mix, toss to coat and serve warm.

The UK-based padel apparel brand, founded by Joe Middleton, former president of Levi's EMEA and chief executive of Canterbury, draws inspiration from the sun-drenched courts of Acapulco in Mexico, where padel was born in 1969 by Enrique Corcuera to "bring the sport's heritage to life". The sportswear brand designs its collections in London, utilising advanced performance fabrics from Italy to offer elevated athletic apparel 'with understated, off-court elegance,' from technical essentials to casual pieces and premium accessories.
