Mumbai: Once again, a video of women fighting in a local train has gone viral on social media. This time, the incident occurred in a CST-Kalyan local train near Dombivli. The video shows women passengers fighting among themselves in a packed local train.
According to the Railway Police, they have not received any complaint from any woman regarding this matter. Sources indicate that the incident took place on Tuesday morning when the train departed from Dombivli railway station. During the journey, two women began fighting over something, which escalated into a physical altercation.
In the viral video, one woman is seen holding another woman's hair tightly while the rest of the women attempt to separate them.
GRP sources reported that some passengers, witnessing the incident, called the GRP control to inform them. When the train reached Kurla, the Kurla RPF team arrived to address the situation, but by then, the fighting women had already disembarked.

Rly cops accused of extorting money from jeweller in Mumbai seek pre-arrest bail

Mumbai: The three railway policemen accused of intimidating a jeweller and extorting money from him at Mumbai Central Terminus recently have applied for anticipatory bail before a sessions court. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday. The GRP's crime branch said the trio is absconding. In the wake of the incident, the Govt Railway Police (GRP) commissioner will be putting together a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with regard to luggage checking. The SOP will require that the same police personnel are not involved in bag checking and that their duty is fixed on a rotational basis. On Aug 10, a Rajasthan-based jeweller and his eight-year-old daughter were about to board the Duranto Express from Mumbai Central Terminus when a cop asked them to halt for baggage examination. He found a gold biscuit and Rs 32,000 cash in the luggage and would not accept the jeweller's explanation. He summoned a colleague and the duo then took the jeweller and his daughter before a "senior" at a beat chowky. The jeweller was slapped and threatened with time behind bars. On repeated occasions in the past, uniformed personnel have been found extorting money from passengers under the guise of baggage checking. Previous GRP commissioners had issued circulars in 2014-2015 to keep a check on such illegal activities. The circulars had stated that baggage checking should not be done unless there was a reason for suspicion and in such circumstances, an officer of inspector-rank should check the bag under CCTV surveillance. The circulars also stated that policemen should not move in civil clothes while on platform duty. The circulars added that if baggage checking was necessary, the GRP could rope in another security agency such as the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to assist them. The SOP will include directions from previous circulars besides coming up with new orders. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
