Jim Goodwin guided Dundee Utd to a respectable draw against Rapid Vienna
And having done a stunning job in leading the club into Europe from the Championship, SunSport understands a number of English clubs are monitoring his situation.
It's believed Goodwin, 43, is eager to extend his deal with United.
The Irishman is immersed in the job on Tayside as he aims to take his team into the Europa Conference League league phase.
United earned a sensational 2-2 draw at Rapid Vienna and will be backed by a sell-out crowd in the second leg.
United supporters are fully behind Goodwin.
They will be desperate for him to be offered a new deal to bring some much-needed stability.
Goodwin's side will have Tannadice rocking next week for the return leg of their Euro tie.
Max Watters and Zac Sapsford grabbed the goals on a memorable night for the Arabs.
Goodwin said after the game: 'We knew it was going to be a difficult evening against a very good Rapid team.
'I spoke about the importance of discipline and shape and players being courageous and putting their bodies on line and we saw that in abundance.
Dundee United fan falls down stairs celebrating Euro goal
'The disappointment is the goals we conceded which were really avoidable. For all Rapid's good play it wasn't as if our goalkeeper had to pull off save after save.
'The first was avoidable when we dropped the runner in the six yard box and the second was a lapse of concentration. But I couldn't be more pleased with the level of commitment.
'We really dug deep towards the end. Without making excuses we're really short on players. Rapid were making four or five quality substitutes to freshen things but we don't have that luxury.
'With the greatest of respect we had so many young kids on the bench and it wouldn't be fair to throw them on into that hostile environment. We were outstanding but we aren't getting carried away. It's still only half-time and we have a big job at Tannadice.'

How Hibs benefit if Aston Villa sanction John McGinn transfer exit as Everton interest addressed

Hibs stand to benefit if John McGinn is allowed to leave Aston Villa this summer - with Everton one of the sides keen. The Scotland hero started out at St Mirren and moved on to Easter Road for a memorable three year spell, where he won the Scottish Cup and Championship. McGinn has now made himself Aston Villa captain, remaining with the Villans since joining them in 2018 while playing Championship football, embarking on a journey that's included Champions League action. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Now Everton boss David Moyes is said to be keen on a deal, with Newcastle United also monitoring the situation. Talk of an £18m bid has surfaced and the interested has been addressed on Sky Sports, with Hibs likely keeping track of developments. As part of the deal that clinched a move to Aston Villa, Hibs bagged a sell on fee of 15%, with St Mirren due 30% of that. Even with the Buddies taking a chunk, a substantial eight figure move would spark a cash windfall in Leith. John McGinn to Everton addressed Presenter Mark McAdam said: 'If you speak to anyone at the top of Aston Villa, they'll say not for sale. Club captain, absolutely no chance. We don't want to lose him. He's going into the final two years of his Aston Villa contract. We know how important he is to Unai Emery and that team, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. He's an exceptional captain, exceptional leader, and someone that really brings and gels that dressing room together. 'But you can understand why there is interest in a player of his calibre and quality. David Moyes loves his leadership skills, loves his experience, and of course, that versatility, because he can play in multiple positions as well. So that's why there is that attraction to someone who I guess they maybe felt like they could tease out of Aston Villa. We know that Aston Villa have to be respectful and mindful of FFP and PSR at the moment as well because of their current situation. 'And maybe there will be one or two clubs that just try and tempt them with an offer. He is 30 years old. Now, he's not got a huge resale value, although we've been saying for years that resale value doesn't exist. Look at Son-Heung min going to LAFC for £20m at 33. So, if you're the right type of player, you've got the right type of global profile, there is still value there. Every time I talk about John McGinn, Hibs fans message me and say, what's happening? What's happening? Is he going? Because obviously for them, that chunk of money could be quite substantial for them to reinvest as well.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad John McGinn transfer prediction Former Wales striker Robert Earnshaw was also on the panel and made a prediction that would be music to the ears of the Easter Road coffers. He wonders if £30m could tempt Aston Villa into selling to Everton, which would bank Hibs a cool sum just over the £3m mark even with the St Mirren percentage to factor in. He added: 'There's still value there. John McGinn is an interesting one because this is my take on it. Everton have gone in and said, listen, would you take 18 million? I think if they up it, there'll be more of a discussion because he's a quality player, quality leader, fits Everton perfectly. Does £30m tempt you? I think there'll be more conversations with that. 'He's excellent. What you're going to get from McGinn is absolute heart, quality at the right time, leadership. But also, I think he's underrated in terms of he's all round, he's tackles, he's creating, he'll give the pass before the final pass. He adds so much to a team and of course, Aston Villa is not going to want him to leave, absolutely not. Maybe the right price, they might look at it, but as footballing-wise, no, no chance. I don't think he actually leaves, but there'll be some discussions and temptation for sure if the price goes up higher.'

Man Utd had deal 'ready to go' before Harry Maguire's transfer move suddenly collapsed

Harry Maguire may have won over Ruben Amorim but his spell at Manchester United could've come to an end long before he arrived if not for a move to West Ham falling through Manchester United were all set to sign French defender Benjamin Pavard two years ago until Harry Maguire's move to West Ham stalled. England centre-back Maguire has navigated dramatic highs and some extreme lows since signing for the Red Devils in a huge £80million deal from Leicester City in July 2019. ‌ After a series of on-pitch errors, leading to United legend Roy Keane calling him out on numerous occasions, Maguire's time at Old Trafford looked to finally be coming to an end in the summer of 2023. With former manager Erik ten Hag then at the helm, the now-32-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements after he was unceremoniously stripped of the club captaincy. ‌ According to Sky Sports, United had agreed a £30m deal to sell Maguire to the Hammers. However, the move fell through after the Irons grew impatient with protracted negotiations. This is despite West Ham agreeing personal terms with Maguire. ‌ His failed move to east London had a severe knock-on effect for United. The Red Devils were in need of the £30m in order to secure Pavard, who was in the last year of his deal at Bayern Munich and a deal was "ready to go" for, per Sky. He has since made a switch to Inter Milan. United had already spent close to £200m that summer on Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund. They were said to be without much wiggle room when it came to Financial Fair Play to pull off a deal for Pavard, now 29, without banking the money for Maguire first. The arrival of Ruben Amorim in November 2024 perhaps seemed like the beginning of the end for Maguire, once again, at United. However, the Sheffield-born star fought his way back into the team and demonstrated that he can still mix with it the best, despite United ultimately finishing in 15th in the Premier League last season. Such is Amorim's faith in the defender that reports suggest he is ready to keep Maguire at the club despite widespread interest. Matters are complicated by the fact that the former Leicester star is out of contract next summer and free to talk to overseas clubs in January. In huge show of faith from Amorim, the former Sporting CP boss has even included Maguire in a six-man leadership group, along with Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Tom Heaton, Noussair Mazraoui and captain Bruno Fernandes ‌ According to The Mail, Maguire is keen to sign an extension which would see him play out the remainder of his career with United. The club are said to be happy with that arrangement, though talks are yet to get underway. Maguire's turnaround at United is nothing short of miraculous, and United legend Rio Ferdinand recently categorised it as if the player had"come back from the dead." ‌ The former England star also admitted to talking to Maguire about his trials and tribulations at Old Trafford. "We had the tough questions like that, what's it like you having criticism? And someone who risen from the dead almost, shown character," Ferdinand said. "He was down and out, but he's come back. So to show that character and resilience, it was nice to just get beneath the skin and talk with him about it."

Second boxer dies after competing on same card as fellow fighter who lost his life

Two fighters on the same card have now died in Japan after it was confirmed that boxer Hiromasa Urakawa has succumbed to his injuries - soon after Yoji Saito also passed away The boxing world has been left stunned after it was confirmed that a second fighter died on the same card in Tokyo. ‌ On Saturday news broke that Japanese boxer Hiromasa Urakawa has succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalised with a brain injury after an eighth-round knockout defeat to Yoji Saito on August 2. On Friday it was confirmed that Shigetoshi Kotari also died of the injuries he sustained on the same night. ‌ Both men were 28 years old. Urakawa's career featured 10 wins with seven KOs and four defeats. Urakawa underwent surgery in an effort to save him but Ring Magazine have now reported that he has tragically passed away. ‌ He is the third boxer to die of injuries sustained in the ring this year, following Kotari and Irishman John Cooney, who died back in February. Cooney suffered an intracranial haemorrhage in his fight against Nathan Howells. The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) said in a statement on social media: "The WBO mourns the passing of Japanese boxer Hiromasa Urakawa, who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during his fight against Yoji Saito on August 2 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. "This heartbreaking news comes just days after the passing of Shigetoshi Kotari, who died from injuries suffered in his fight on the same card. We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and the Japanese boxing community during this incredibly difficult time." The Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation has now bought about rules changes following Kotari's injuries and tragic death. From now on OPBF title fights will be 10 rounds, rather than the 12 that are normally common practice in title fights around the globe. Ring Magazine said: "The Ring is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hiromasa Urakawa. Urakawa, 28, died Saturday from a brain injury he suffered during a stoppage loss on Aug 2nd in Tokyo. Our sympathies are with the Urakawa family at this time." Earlier this year Mark Dunlop, the manager of Irish fighter Cooney, said he "can't blame anybody" following his tragic death and added" "John knew the dangers, the family know the dangers... everyone involved in boxing know that it carries a risk."
