New walking group for people living alone in Ashurst
The new group will begin on June 7 and take place on the first Saturday of each month, with all walks starting at 10.30am.
The group forms part of Community First's long-running New Forest scheme boasting over 400 regular walkers.
Trained volunteer leaders will guide each walk, lasting around one hour, through the picturesque New Forest.
Tim Houghton, chief executive of Community First, said: "We know that it can be hard to join a group when you're on your own – especially if you worry it might be full of couples or friends.
"This walk is different. Everyone comes on their own and it's all about having a chat, enjoying nature, and meeting others from all walks of life."
Due to limited availability, booking is mandatory for each walk.

"Very well done to the following students for achieving at least eight grades at 7 to 9: Giulia, Molly, Emily, Naomi, Rosie , David, Daniel, Hanno, Reba, Max, Isabella, Holly, Ben, Jacob, Tristan, James, Erin, Gabriele, Martha, Maria, Daphne and Tom. "For some students, even though their attainment was not as high, their results represent outstanding achievement and progress, and we are proud of every single one of them. "We are very thankful for how hard all colleagues work at The Castle and our students really benefit from this". A big win on GCSE results. (Image: Castle School) Castle School Headteacher, Mr James Lamb, took time to congratulate the class of 2025 departing Castle School on their next challenge. Mr Lamb said: "We take immense pride in our students and are confident that their achievements will serve them well as they transition into adulthood. "These outcomes reflect the strength of the relationships nurtured within our school community, made possible by the commitment of our staff. While academic performance remains a key measure of success—and this cohort has upheld the school's proud tradition—it is the lasting memories and experiences gained over five years that truly shape their future. "These will guide them as they move into further education, employment, or training, helping them lead fulfilling and happy life." Mr Lamb also paid tribute to the staff at The Castle School, he added: 'I am hugely proud of all the hard work, dedication and unconditional commitment all colleagues at The Castle School show every day.'

Bell chimes for clock at village church turned off following noise complaints
A VILLAGE church says it has turned off its bell chimes following noise complaints. Work has recently been completed to repair the clock at Newchurch Parish Church in Culcheth. However, the bell chimes at the Bent Lane place of worship have been turned off following noise complaints to Warrington Borough Council. Discussions are said to be underway to ensure a situation all are happy with, but this will take some time, according to Reverand Martin Cox, rector at Newchurch Parish Church. He said: 'As many residents of Culcheth will be aware, the church clock at Newchurch Parish Church was recently repaired. 'Over the last few months, Newchurch Parochial Church Council has been made aware of complaints made to Warrington Borough Council regarding the frequency of the reinstated chiming of the church clock. 'This has resulted in the church clock chimes being switched off while a solution is discussed and agreed that is satisfactory to the borough council, the complainants, the church, and the wider church authorities who need to be consulted in such situations. 'A practical solution is being actively considered, but this will not be installed quickly. 'I can advise parishioners that once the agreed solution is implemented, the church clock will chime at a different frequency than previously. 'The decision to switch off the church clock chimes was not taken lightly and was taken to ensure everyone's best interests are served while a solution is agreed and implemented. 'This has ensured that the church is not served with a statutory notice by Warrington Borough Council during the period when a solution is agreed and implemented.' The decision was mat with sadness from some residents, with one commenting: 'I think the chimes are lovely and should remain. 'Why must the powers that be constantly bow down to the minority?' Another wrote: 'It is our heritage – a sanctuary, a place of worship – leave the clock be.'
