Blackpink Singer Lisa Hints That A New Album Is ‘Coming Soon'
Blackpink fans can rest a bit easier today, knowing that the South Korean girl group is working on new music. The band—one of the most successful all-female acts in K-pop history—has maintained an incredible track record, despite having only released two full-lengths so far. As the outfit prepares for an upcoming global tour, many have expected new music to arrive.
While there hasn't been a major announcement, one of the four members has now offered a soft confirmation that something exciting is in the works. 'Actually, we were in the studio a few days ago,' Lisa shared with Variety. The singer and rapper, who was promoting a new collection with Bose, didn't reveal too much more.
When asked about an upcoming album, Lisa added, 'You have to be patient about it. It's coming soon, I promise.' By the time a new full-length from Blackpink does arrive, it may have been nearly three years since the group's last complete release. The band has only shared two full-lengths to date: 2021's The Album and Born Pink, which dropped in September 2022. Both were massive commercial successes, with the latter becoming Blackpink's first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S., while its predecessor stalled in the runner-up position.
Blackpink is set to begin its global tour in July, kicking things off in its home country of South Korea. From there, the outfit will visit cities across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. After a months-long break—perhaps to support a new release—the tour resumes in January 2026 with a trio of concerts in Tokyo.
While Blackpink has been fairly quiet as a group recently, the members have stayed busy. In the past several months, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa have each released solo collections. Three of those climbed into the top 10 on the Billboard 200, and most of the singers have landed hits on the Hot 100 and earned major radio success. The most successful has been Rosé, whose Bruno Mars collaboration, 'Apt.,' has rewritten the rules regarding what female K-pop soloists can achieve on the Billboard charts. The tune rose to No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart and stands as the highest-rising solo cut by any female artist from the genre on the Hot 100.

Morgan Wallen Ties Taylor Swift's Greatest Hot 100 Feat
Morgan Wallen occupies 32 spots on the Hot 100 this week, matching Taylor Swift's record and ... More becoming the only artist to chart 30-plus hits in three different weeks. KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - SEPTEMBER 22: Morgan Wallen performs onstage for night two of his One Night At A Time tour at Neyland Stadium on September 22, 2024 in Knoxville, Tennessee. (Photo byfor for Morgan Wallen's One Night At A Time 2024) Last week, Morgan Wallen made history on the Hot 100 when tracks from his album I'm the Problem flooded Billboard's ranking of the most consumed tunes across the United States. Dozens of songs from the full-length appeared on the list, powered by staggering streaming numbers. Just days later, although some tracks have slipped off the tally and most are declining, Wallen still manages to match one of the biggest stars in music history as he dominates the ranking once more. This week, Wallen controls 32 positions on the Hot 100 — just under one-third of all the available spaces. With this incredible feat, he matches Taylor Swift's best showing on the list. Swift once occupied 32 spots on the Hot 100 in May 2024, the week her album The Tortured Poets Department arrived. The following frame, she filled just one fewer space in a stunning example of sustained popularity. When I'm the Problem was brand new, Wallen claimed 37 spots on the Hot 100. 36 of the 37 tracks from his album appeared, alongside 'I Had Some Help,' his 2024 collaboration with Post Malone. That performance broke Wallen's previously-set all-time record of 36 simultaneous placements on the ranking, which he managed in the spring of 2023 with his project One Thing at a Time. Wallen is now the first musician in history to chart 30 or more songs on the Hot 100 in three separate weeks. Swift has managed this feat twice, while rapper Playboi Carti joined the club in March of this year when his album Music debuted. That frame, 31 tracks with his name attached landed on the tally. Among Wallen's 32 wins on the Hot 100 this frame is a trio of top 10s, which sit side-by-side within the uppermost tier. 'What I Want,' his collaboration with Tate McRae, dips from No. 1 to No. 2, making way for 'Ordinary' by Alex Warren to ascend to the summit for the first time. Just behind those smashes 'Just in Case' and the album's title track 'I'm the Problem,' which land at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.

Dave Chappelle Reflects On 2016 Trump ‘SNL' Speech
Source: Arturo Holmes / Getty For comedian Dave Chappelle, the opening monologue he gave as the host of Saturday Night Live after the 2016 presidential election isn't something he regrets. He had the chance to reflect on it during a conversation with comedian Mo Amer for the Actors on Actors series for Variety. 'I haven't watched it in a while, but I remember it fondly,' Chappelle said at the 27-minute mark of the conversation, which was shared Wednesday (June 4) after Amer asked him about his perspective on it from back then to now. The monologue went viral, as Chappelle declared that 'an internet troll' had won the White House, also pointing out his history of sexual assault. He would then segue into how he felt after former President Barack Obama won in 2008. 'And it made me very happy about the prospects of our country,' he said then. 'So, in that spirit, I'm wishing Donald Trump luck. And I'm going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too.''Oh, I remember that part,' Chappelle said. 'You know what? I look at it like a photograph. That's what it felt like in that moment. Now, if it ages well or not, I don't get mad if I look at a picture because it's not today. That's what it was at that time.' He continued, 'You might look at an old set and cringe, but you could just cringe because of how you were at that time. And in that sense, I'm fine with it.' Chappelle's conversation with Amer is one of the rare moments he's opened up for media – he has declined direct interviews in the wake of brushback from jokes he made against the transgender community in his 2021 Netflix special The Closer . But he and the Palestinian comedian bonded during the COVID-19 pandemic, making this a keen opportunity for the two to talk about comedy and their perspectives on the current times particularly with Amer's hit Netflix show. 'As you know, I notoriously don't like to do press,' Chappelle said, 'but today I wouldn't have missed, because it's you.' Check out the entire conversation above.
