Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have announced their engagement, putting an end to years of speculation about their wedding plans.

The pair have been a couple since they first met in Madrid, while Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid, in 2016. Rodriguez, 31, and Ronaldo, 40, initially met while she was working at a Gucci store in the Spanish capital.

On Monday, Rodriguez revealed that former Manchester United star Ronaldo had popped the question by sharing a photo of a large diamond ring on social media. The caption accompanying the post read: "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives."

This announcement has been eagerly anticipated by Rodriguez, who expressed her wish to marry Ronaldo as early as 2019, with the couple having navigated extreme highs and tragic lows in their time together.
"Every couple wants to get married and I would love to personally," Rodriguez said to Spanish magazine Hola!. "Right now we have priorities and a lot of responsibilities, although in the future it would be marvellous to become Cristiano's wife."
Through her relationship with Ronaldo, Rodriguez has gained fame, establishing a modelling career and launching her own fashion line. In 2022, she was the focus of the Netflix documentary 'I Am Georgina', where she once again shared her views on marriage, reports the Mirror.

She said: "They're always joking about the wedding. 'When is the wedding?' Since Jennifer Lopez's song The Ring Or When came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me."

The pair share two children, whilst Rodriguez also assists in bringing up Ronaldo's three offspring from earlier relationships. He had previously stated he was awaiting the perfect opportunity to pop the question.

"When we get that click. Like everything with our life, and she knows what I'm talking about," he told Piers Morgan in 2022. "It could be in a year or it could be in six months or it could be in a month. I'm 1000% sure that it'll happen."
Throughout the 2018 World Cup, there was conjecture that the pair had got engaged following Rodriguez being spotted sporting a costly ring whilst watching a Portugal game, although this was swiftly dismissed. There had also been later whispers regarding clandestine wedding ceremonies.
Although Rodriguez might have needed to wait for a ring, Ronaldo has previously expressed his adoration for her. "She's a fantastic person," Ronaldo said of his new fiancée during an ITV interview in 2019.

"Yes, it is [true love]. Yes, it was [like magic meeting for the first time]. Gio is part of me. She helps me so much. Of course, I'm in love with her. She's the mum of my kids. I'm so passionate for her. She's my friend, we have conversations. I open my heart to her. She opened her heart to me.
"[She's the greatest love of my life]... Why not [get married]? Not now! Not in this interview. Why not, one day... We'll one day, for sure. It's my mum's dream."

Ronaldo has reportedly splashed out on an engagement ring for Rodriguez, believed to be valued at around £7.4million. The footballing icon, who is set to pocket £492m over the next two years with Al-Nassr, should find settling into married life a breeze as he already frequently refers to Rodriguez as his wife.
During an appearance on the WHOOP podcast last year, Ronaldo mentioned conversing with his wife as part of his morning routine. At an awards ceremony in December, where he was crowned Best Middle Eastern player, he once again referred to Rodriguez as his wife.
"It's a big pleasure to win this trophy. My oldest son is here, and my wife is here," he said. At the beginning of the year, in a post marking Rodriguez's 31st birthday, Ronaldo wrote on Instagram: "For the mother, partner, friend, my wife... happy birthday, love. Your light illuminates us and your love infects us."

Why queer theatre matters, now more than ever

They give language to the unspoken and courage to those still finding their way. This year, one of the standout queer shows doing just that is A Drag Is Born, a wordless solo performance by Spanish artist Edu Díaz. Performed entirely without dialogue, the show is a universal expression of queerness and transformation. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'In these weird times of hate speech and rage — when in countries like Spain, youth are leaning toward the far right — queer theatre feels more urgent than ever. I'm not sure if I'm 'preaching to the choir' here at Fringe, but my dream is to perform for conservative audiences, where queer kids might be struggling to be themselves.' Edu Diaz in A Drag is Born 'The wordless nature of A Drag Is Born makes it borderless, universal and accessible to many different types of audiences,' Edu explains. Not only is the performance accessible, but it is also deeply personal for Diaz. A Drag Is Born was created in the wake of a homophobic outburst from a longtime acting coach. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Weeks before my first solo show, my longtime acting coach turned violent. He started throwing insults, and one day, he cornered me in a hallway and called me 'little f****t'. That moment made me think about the countless times I'd hidden, pretended to be straight, or felt shame for who I am.' Edu Diaz in A Drag Is Born 'Every show is different,' he says. 'I embark on a mystical ride of empowerment with the audience. A Drag Is Born, literally.' Edu's advice to emerging queer artists: 'Your truest work comes from your deepest self. Whatever's inside, the joy, the pain, the weirdness, put it out there. That's how you defeat monsters.' For A Drag Is Born producer Jess Ducey, the personal impact of queer representation also runs deep. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad "Representation matters! I didn't come out until my thirties, in part because growing up in Florida meant I didn't see many reference points for queerness. But in my twenties, I found myself drawn to queer stories, in books, theatre, film, and more, and they gave me the words to describe what I felt." Edu Diaz in A Drag is Born 'If our stories didn't matter, artists wouldn't find themselves silenced over and over and over throughout history. It's flattering, in a way, to realize that some sequins or a puppet or a silly dance can pose such a threat to the status quo. It's an acknowledgment of our power, and a reminder that, collectively, we can shape better, more equitable, and joyous worlds.'

Bonnie Blue and 'nervous' Ibiza Final Boss meet up as she makes wild confession

Bonnie Blue has flown over to the Spanish party island to meet viral raver Ibiza Final Boss after reaching out to him on Instagram and she has now revealed exactly what the encounter was like. Ibiza Final Boss has met up with controversial adult star Bonnie Blue after she flew out to Ibiza for a surprise visit. Geordie raver Jack Kay, who became an internet sensation overnight thanks to his distinctive haircut, had an awkward exchange with the sex star as he nervously hugged her during the unexpected meet up. ‌ Bonnie Blue, who has been booted off OnlyFans for her extreme content, is known to fly out to party hot spots to find men to sleep with and film for her work. Known for her rage-bait tactics, the 26-year-old was quick to jump on the opportunity to meet Jack, also 26, who had just launched his own single bragging:" Your bird listens to the Ibiza Final Boss ". ‌ The cringe clip shows Jack with his arm around Bonnie as he turns his head away from her. Another moment shows the duo awkwardly making conversation, standing noticeably far away from each other. ‌ Following their painful encounter, Bonnie said in a now-deleted clip: "It was my shortest video yet. I was shocked how nervous he was." The bizarre meet up comes after Bonnie sparked fury from Jack's followers when she sent him a cheeky message over the weekend, following reports that his girlfriend had dumped him over his partying ways, the Mirror reports. Making the most of his viral fame, the Ibiza Final Boss posted a video of him in the Spanish party island with the caption: "The final boss can't be slayed… your misses on the other hand? Her levels been completed". Bonnie was seemingly desperate to also profit off of Jack's viral moment as she replied to his post with a suggestive eyes emoji. Jack's fans flooded the comments warning him to 'stay away' from the star, but it seems he didn't listen. ‌ Bonnie's surprise visit comes after reports that Jack's love life is in trouble. His glamorous girlfriend Alisha Cook reportedly dumped him on his first Ibiza trip, just days before he went viral. ‌ The Newcastle lad is now said to be fighting to save his relationship with the model and debt collector from Co Durham. Alisha was allegedly so angry with her boyfriend's antics in Ibiza that she broke up with him before videos of his haircut made him go viral. The couple have reportedly worked things out since, but a friend of Jack's warned he was 'skating on thin ice' over his party lifestyle. ‌ They told the Daily Mail: "Alisha called it off when Jack went to Ibiza with the lads. They'd been together for almost a year and he was living at her place but things hadn't been right for months. "His car is still on her drive, she threw all his clothes in the back of it. She doesn't want him around anymore. She's had inklings that something was not right for a while. She just wants to wash her hands of him. Alisha is so beautiful. No one is quite sure what she saw in him." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. However, it appears Alisha had a quick change of heart as she's now publicly declared herself as Jack's girlfriend since he rose to internet stardom. In a series of TikTok videos captioned: "POV: ya boyfriend's now known as Ibiza Final Boss," Alisha is seen cosying up to Jack, including clips of him kissing her cheek and the two of them partying together. However, the video has since been made private and Alisha is yet to speak out following the video of Jack and Bonnie.
