Jeremy Clarkson was ‘accommodating and kind' in surprise appearance on Car S.O.S
The National Geographic car renovation show is returning for a new series with a reveal to an owner due to take place at Clarkson's Oxfordshire farm in episode five.
Shaw said industry people told him that the former Top Gear and The Grand Tour star turned Clarkson's Farm presenter was 'very unlikely to take part in the show'.
He said: 'The general sentiment was, 'good luck with that'. But I figured it was worth a shot.
'Even though it was a busy time for Jeremy on the farm, I reached out to his long-time assistant and explained the story behind the car.
'It was an all-or-nothing request: 'Could we come to his home and reveal the car to its owner?'
'To my surprise, she got back to me almost immediately after speaking with Jeremy – and the answer was yes. We were all totally stunned.
'But it didn't stop there. Not only did he agree, but he was happy for us to bring a full coach load of people, literally the kind of coach you see barrelling down the motorway.
'We had the entire family there, and when you see the size of the group, you realise just how generous this offer was.
'I mean, think about it, 60 strangers turning up at your property.
'The Car S.O.S team and I were even invited into his kitchen for a chat before the big reveal.
'We spent about half an hour with him, and he was warm, friendly, and, of course, typically sarcastic and funny.
'But what might surprise the Jeremy Clarkson sceptics is just how accommodating and kind he was.
'He genuinely cared about the wellbeing of both the team and, most importantly, the car's owner.'
Shaw also said that in more than a decade of filming the show Clarkson gave 'one of the kindest gestures we've ever had from any celebrity', after inviting the coach full of strangers to his home where the improved Land Rover Discovery Series 1 automobile was revealed.
'Now, I wasn't expecting hugs, tears, or a big outpouring of emotion from Jeremy when we handed the car back to its owner James,' he said.
'But he showed everyone involved that day that he's a kind, caring guy, even while keeping up that classic Clarkson front.'
Also taking part in season 13 is comedian Johnny Vegas, and motoring presenter Mike Brewer.
Clarkson, 64, has had three series of Prime Video show Clarkson's Farm, which has charted his difficulties farming on his land in Chadlington, near Chipping Norton, as well as him starting his Diddly Squat farm shop, since 2021.
An upcoming fourth season follows him starting more businesses in the area.
He currently has Hawkstone Brewery, and a pub in Asthall, near Burford, called The Farmer's Dog.
Clarkson is also known for ITV's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and last year ended his Prime Video programme The Grand Tour with his co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May.
Car S.O.S began in 2013, and has been presented by Shaw and John 'Fuzz' Townshend.
Car S.O.S returns March 13 on National Geographic.

Yuba City's Concerts in the Park are back after Hard Rock Sacramento steps up to sponsor event
Yuba City voters shot down a 1% sales tax hike in last November's election, sending a ripple through the city's budget and canceling a beloved event in the community, Concerts in the Park. But thanks to an unexpected sponsor, they're back on. "We went from it's not in the budget to hard rock stepped up and hello Yuba City," said Dave Shaw, mayor of Yuba City. Concerts in the Park are back. The series was canceled earlier this year after the city was facing a $1.2 million budget shortfall. "It's unfortunate, but I understand the city is tightening its belt for whatever reason it may be, and it's impacting the amount of money they can invest in improving the community," said Yuba City resident Dan Lopez. "When we first started this journey because of budgetary cuts, it was unfortunately these great things that were first on the chopping block," Shaw said. The summer concerts are well-loved by community members, so the city turned to Hard Rock Sacramento for help. "We wanted to be involved. We wanted to make sure that artists in our area have the opportunity to be spotlighted and, of course, people in the region can come out and enjoy a fun evening every Thursday night," said Mark Birtha, president of Hard Rock Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain. "I think it's great that they're stepping up and helping the community," said Lopez. "It's a form of entertainment, and it helps people pass the time in the evenings." The summer concerts are free, and everything is local, from the musicians to the vendors. But it is a hot August night. "Stay hydrated, bring water, bring an ice chest, get the towels that are wet," Shaw said. After Thursday, there will be four more Concerts in the Park. The event runs on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Ford CEO Jim Farley Wants an Off-Road Raptor Supercar
The latest car news, reviews, and features. Where there's smoke, fire isn't usually far behind. We caught a whiff of a super-high-end, super-high-performance Ford Raptor halo model back in January when CEO Jim Farley teased it in an interview with Top Gear . Now, he's getting pretty specific about the project following a Bloomberg podcast appearance. Farley even went as far as saying it should have '1,000 horsepower' while being 'partially electric and totally digitally enabled.' Think of it like a desert-bashing Mustang GTD, then. 'No one's ever built a supercar for gravel, high-speed sand, dirt,' Farley said. 'I'm thinking really deeply about it, and usually, that turns into something.' It seems like Farley wants something far beyond a Porsche 911 Dakar or Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, because in most folks' minds, they fall into the category he described there. You could argue that a prospective Ford off-road supercar buyer would have far different expectations, of course, and not just because the Blue Oval exists as a mainstream brand compared to the premium, exotic Europeans. Rather, Ford fans tend to be more passionate about bashing through dunes and jumping over stuff than driving somewhat fast on crappy roads. 'That would be a great direction for our company,' Farley continued, referencing the idea of a bespoke and standalone off-road supercar. 'These Raptor people are telling us something. They're not stupid. They're really smart people. They spent $120,000 on an 800-horsepower pickup truck.' Here's the Ford Raptor T1+ Dakar racer. Ford What this car might look like is anybody's guess. A pickup could be cool, but judging by Farley's comments, it might not be singular enough. By that, I mean that a pickup is likely too multi-purpose. If Ford brings a Dakar racer to some speed-hungry millionaires, it probably won't be concerned with hauling stuff in the bed or pulling a trailer. There was a crazy rumor a few years back that Ford would roll out a Mustang Raptor in 2026, though Farley seemed to deflect that idea in his Top Gear spot in January: 'We're in the middle of creating something, so we don't have all the answers yet, but the question is, should Ford make an off-road supercar? Not a version of a car, a standalone supercar. That's what we're trying to answer. What do we do on a utility car? Is there a supercar? That's what we're debating now.' We'll have to see if Farley's musings turn into something. If any automotive CEO would do something so crazy, though, my bet would be on him.
