Thief dragged wheelie bin filled with stolen clothes through city centre
An accomplice in a robbery which saw two men drag wheelie bins stuffed with thousands of pounds of stolen clothes through Nottingham city centre has been identified. The two individuals stole tonnes of stock - including expensive trainers and clothes - from Footlocker, in Clumber Street, in the early hours of May 13. They then hid the items in two wheelie bins and dragged them through the streets of Nottingham city centre. CCTV had previously identified Reece Wheat as one of the suspects, however another man was captured helping him break into the store and stuff the items into the bins. READ MORE: Young burglar who claimed to be policeman snared by 'distinctive trousers' READ MORE: Brits warned of airport scam where most people don't realise they've been robbed The hooded accomplice in the footage was found to be Ellis Bishop, who was easily identified based on the distinctive tattoos he has on his leg and arms. The 30-year-old was later found to be responsible for a further three shop thefts on May 27, June 15 and June 20 and was subsequently charged with burglary and four counts of shop theft. This included the theft of the bins. Bishop, of Bath Street, St Ann's, admitted to each charge at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday (30 June) and was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison. PC Ben King, of the City Centre neighbourhood policing team, said: "Thousands of pounds worth of stock was stolen during this break-in, before being paraded through the city centre in a pair of wheelie bins. "Ellis Bishop played a leading role in this brazen burglary by taking the bins from a neighbouring shop and then helping Reece Wheat fill them with stolen trainers and clothes. "Retail crime can have a real impact on businesses and the staff that work there, so we're pleased to have now locked up both the people responsible for this burglary."

Blood in every room of couple's flat, court told
Traces of blood were found in every room of a couple's home after they were killed, a court has heard. Jurors at Woolwich Crown Court were on Thursday shown evidence from the flat shared by Albert Alfonso, 62, and his partner Paul Longworth, 71, in Shepherds Bush, west London. Yostin Mosquera, 35, a Colombian national staying with the couple was in a sexual relationship with Mr Alfonso, the court has heard. He denies murdering both men in July 2024. Emma White, a senior forensic investigator at the Metropolitan Police, told the jury she had observed blood staining - along with evidence of attempts to clean it up - in the couple's flat. This article contains material that some people may find distressing. Mr Mosquera is accused of killing Mr Longworth with a hammer on 8 July and hiding his body in a divan bed, before murdering Mr Alfonso by stabbing him to death during a recorded sex session later that day. Prosecution barristers also claim he dismembered their bodies and took them to Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge in an effort to dispose of the remains. Mosquera has admitted the manslaughter of Mr Longworth by way of loss of self-control. But the prosecution alleges Mr Mosquera caused Mr Longworth's death. Ms White told the court on Thursday blood staining had been found in one bedroom, likely to have come from a severed vein or artery of Mr Alfonso. She said towels saturated with Mr Longworth's blood were found in the divan bed of his room. She also told the court traces of diluted blood had been found in the bathroom, as well as a number of bloodstained black latex gloves in a freezer in the hallway of the flat. Other bloodstained items were also found in the flat by investigators, including a hammer, white overalls and a Sainsbury's plastic bag, the hearing was told. The jury were also shown pictures of a silver suitcase they were told contained the human remains of Mr Longworth, captured by CCTV cameras on Clifton Suspension Bridge. Jurors were then shown an image from a webcam in Mr Alfonso's bedroom which appeared to show the same suitcase days earlier. Bodyworn footage from the first police officer to enter the couple's flat also shows an empty space where the same suitcase appeared previously, the court heard. The trial continues. TBI: Former Cheatham cop charged with strangling person involved in crash while on duty
A former Cheatham County corporal is charged with assault after investigators said he put his hands on the neck of a person involved in a crash while he was on duty earlier this year. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a Cheatham County grand jury indicted Ryan Creech on July 1 after a complaint was filed against him for inappropriate use of force when he responded to a traffic crash. The agency began investigating the case on Jan. 6. Creech, 50, is facing one count of assault with threat of bodily injury and one count of aggravated assault for strangulation. TBI said Creech turned himself in and was booked in the Cheatham County jail on $6,000 bond. The Cheatham County Jail said Creech was no longer in the jail as of July 3. He is no longer employed by the Cheatham County Sheriff's Office. Reach reporter Craig Shoup by email at cshoup@ and on X @Craig_Shoup.
