Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah
Originally from Nigeria, young English talent Rio Ngumoha recently spoke about his first steps with Liverpool's senior team. He didn't hesitate to mention the star Mohamed Salah as a true role model.
Rio Ngumoha has been training with Liverpool's first team for just a few days, but the Nigerian-born prodigy already made an impression during a friendly against Preston North End. The young Nigerian is currently living his childhood dream. "This experience is truly indescribable. Training with the best team in the world, even at such a young age, is every kid's dream. You learn from the players you train with and really get to measure yourself against them. It's incredible." Ngumoha told the English club's website.
He went on to mention that Egyptian star Mo Salah is one of his idols. "Mohamed Salah was, of course, one of my role models growing up, so it's really great to learn from him. Everyone is very professional, and you can see why they're at the top. They're always thinking about football, about recovery, about little details like healthy eating. So there's a lot we can learn from them." he said.

Liverpool's new kit: How Adidas launched 10-year deal – and what's our verdict?

Liverpool have launched their new home and away kits for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign as their new 10-year partnership with kit provider Adidas began. It marks the third time that Adidas have partnered with the club after previous collaborations between 1985-1996 and 2006-2012. Liverpool and Adidas were forced to wait until August 1 to officially unveil their new range of kits as the start of previous supplier Nike's five-year contract was delayed due to the Covid pandemic. That deal that saw Liverpool receive a flat fee of £30million plus royalties of 20 per cent on all net sales from Nike. The new deal with Adidas is set to represent a significant increase with the total amount depending on success on the pitch and across global sales. The kit will be worn for the first time during Liverpool's double-header friendly against Athletic Club at Anfield on August 4, with the club wearing the away shirt in the Community Shield against Crystal Palace on August 10 at Wembley. Liverpool's Chief Commercial Officer, Ben Latty said: 'This is more than just the launch of a new kit – it marks the beginning of a 10-year relationship for LFC and Adidas. Since announcing the partnership in March, there's been a huge sense of anticipation and excitement. This first collection sets the tone for seasons to come.' Advertisement Earlier in the day, Liverpool announced new squad numbers for existing and new players. Florian Wirtz has taken the iconic No 7 shirt after Luis Diaz's exit to Bayern Munich while new striker Hugo Ekitike is the new No 22. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has taken 25 and Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have taken 6 and 30 respectively. Conor Bradley is now Liverpool's No 12 rather than 84. Analysis As the final touches were being made to the refurbished retail store next to Anfield, fans were queuing outside, eager to be one of the first to purchase one of the new kits. Judging by the initial reaction online, the response seems positive. Adidas clearly wanted to leave no doubt about who Liverpool's new kit partner is: their global three white stripes logo is prominent against the dark strawberry red colour of the shirt. For fans of a certain vintage, the new supplier will spark happy memories. Liverpool won a league and FA Cup double in 1986, together with two more league titles in 1988 and 1990, with Adidas. That might help explain why former Liverpool striker John Aldridge, a key member of that 1987-88 squad, was in attendance at the launch event. The away kit takes on a similar design and the cream off-white base is a throwback to classic shirts of the past, with its likeness most closely resembling the 1996-97 cream design by Reebok. The Liverbird badge is framed within a red shield, a design inspired by the original shape of Anfield's Main Stand from 1906.

Journalist tips Liverpool to announce deal that 'SMASHES' English record

Liverpool are being tipped to announce a deal that 'smashes' the English record. Here's the latest. Liverpool have done absolutely incredibly business so far in this transfer window. The Reds broke their transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, for one. LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! That's the biggest deal anywhere in this window. Wirtz arrives as one of the most in-demand players on the planet and someone no one saw landing at Liverpool. It was an incredible coup and the Reds then followed it with Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Two brand new full-backs to revitalise the roles. Not done there, Liverpool signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. He's hopefully the future up top for the Reds - a massive talent who can seemingly do it all. And even after all of this, Liverpool still aren't finish. The biggest is yet to come. Liverpool push for Alexander Isak It's not a secret that Liverpool hope to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. What's less clear is how likely that is. Newcastle do not want to sell and Isak is busy attempting to force their hand. It's something that might just work, too. Journalist Keith Downie has shared his take on the saga, believing it results in Liverpool announcing an English-record transfer. 'As you all know, his head's been turned," said Downie on YouTube. "I fully expect if Liverpool come to the table and offer a big offer, that deal will get done. It's just whether Liverpool can come up with the funds or not. 'I know Newcastle have set the fee at £150m and that's what they want. I think they'll end up doing a deal for around about £135m, something like that, which still smashes the Premier League record. 'I just think, 'What's the point in having a player who's unsettled, who's unhappy, who's maybe causing some problems?'… I think once a player's head is turned, it's hard to get them on it.'

Dave Hendrick: Alexander Isak distances himself from Newcastle amid Liverpool interest

Alexander Isak Edges Closer to Liverpool Exit as Newcastle Rift Deepens The Alexander Isak transfer saga continues to dominate headlines, and on the latest episode of the Daily Red Podcast, host Dave Hendrick delivered a sharp and revealing update on the striker's apparent disintegration with Newcastle United. As Liverpool fans watch developments with keen interest, it is clear the Swedish forward's days on Tyneside are numbered. Isak's Disappearing Act Speaking on Thursday's episode, Hendrick opened with a blunt assessment: 'He is not rehabbing the supposed injury at Newcastle. He has had no contact with Newcastle apparently and is refusing to engage in any contact with them.' The image painted is of a player in open rebellion against his current club. Isak is now in Spain, training at Real Sociedad's facilities — a symbolic return to a place of comfort and autonomy, far removed from the tension at St James' Park. Hendrick did not mince words about the deteriorating relationship, declaring, 'It is getting to the point where it's nigh on impossible to see how they could get this back together.' Trust, it seems, has been shattered. And the implications are plain: while Liverpool are yet to submit a formal bid, the striker has distanced himself almost entirely from his current employers. Liverpool Waiting While Newcastle Reacts Newcastle's stance has taken on a tone of contradiction. Hendrick pointed out the hypocrisy: 'Newcastle are supposedly annoyed that we haven't bid yet. So, is he not for sale or are you annoyed that we haven't bid yet? Because it can't be both.' There is growing speculation that Newcastle want to secure a replacement before sanctioning Isak's exit. Benjamin Sesko appears to be their top target, but even that pursuit comes with its own complications. According to Hendrick, 'Sesko also has interest from Manchester United… There's been some suggestion that he prefers to move to Manchester United.' However, Newcastle remain optimistic, believing their project offers more stability and a clearer path to development. Darwin Nunez Could Be the Key Hendrick floated a bold idea that could benefit both clubs. 'The best thing Newcastle could do is take Sesko and then take Darwin [Nunez],' he said. Initially mentioned in jest, the proposal gained seriousness as Hendrick laid out its logic: 'He can play up front by himself… takes a lot of the pressure off Sesko… and Darwin can also provide you cover in a wide area.' Hendrick even speculated on the potential structure of a dual deal: 'Let's say we get Isak for 135. So it's 85 in Darwin. It's a pretty good deal for all parties, including him, because I do think that's a place where he could go and be absolutely adored.' Fanbase Friction and Strategic Patience Despite tension between the clubs, Hendrick acknowledged similarities between the Liverpool and Newcastle fanbases: 'Despite all the bickering and back and forth that's gone on in recent weeks, there's a lot of similarities between the two fanbases. Ours are just better than theirs, obviously.' As Arne Slot shapes his Liverpool squad for a Premier League title defence, the Isak situation remains one of the summer's most intriguing storylines. If Liverpool do make a move, it will not only signal their long-term plans for a dynamic forward line but could also unlock the logjam in Newcastle's own recruitment strategy. With trust broken and communication absent between player and club, the path to Anfield looks increasingly open for Isak. And if Dave Hendrick's reading of the situation is anything to go by, the Swedish international is more than ready to make that move happen.
