Butler basketball adds nonconference games to schedule, loses 1
The Bulldogs will host Chicago State on Nov. 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Eastern Michigan will make the trip to Hinkle on Dec. 2. Tip times and television assignments have not been announced.
The Dawgs open the first week of the season against Southern Indiana on Nov. 5 and IU Indy on Nov. 8 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler will play in the Greenbrier Tip-Off in November and will return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the 2025 Indy Classic on Dec. 20 against Northwestern.
The Bulldogs will conclude their home-and-home series at SMU on Nov.15.
A nonconference game against Western Illinois was tentatively scheduled but will not take place because the contract to play the game was never signed.
Last season, Butler started nonconference 7-1 before dropping consecutive games to Houston, North Dakota State and Wisconsin. Of Butler's four nonconference losses, the losses to Austin Peay and North Dakota State were ominous signs for a disappointing season to come.

While the release date is set for September 6 for the new edition of NBA 2K26, the video game franchise has begun to release player ratings for some of the top players around the association. On social media, NBA 2K is counting down the top 100 players in the game. As players ranked 50-31 were released, a member of the Golden State Warriors made an appearance on the countdown. At No. 40, Golden State veteran forward Jimmy Butler was listed with an 87 overall rating. NBA 2K26 will be the second consecutive year where Butler will start the game with a rating in the 80 range. Prior to NBA 2K25, Butler earned a rating of at least 91 for three straight seasons, including a high of 95 in 2K24. Butler has been rated with a 90 or above four times in his career. Butler's 87 rating 2K26 is his lowest rating since NBA 2K16. Houston's Amen Thompson (41), Boston's Derrick White (39), Los Angeles Clippers' Ivica Zubac (38), New Orleans' Zion Willamson (37), Cleveland's Darius Garland (36), Charlotte's LaMelo Ball (35), Houston's Alperen Sengun (34) and Sacramento's Domantas Sabonis (33) all joined Butler with an 87 rating. Butler played 35 games with the Warriors last season after being acquired at the trade deadline. In his first stint with the Warriors, the 14-year veteran averaged 17.9 points on 47.6% shooting from the field with 5.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game. USA Hockey Invites 44 NHL Players To Olympic Orientation Camp: Full List
USA Hockey announced 44 players will head to the U.S. men's Olympic orientation camp in Plymouth, Mich. The camp, scheduled for Aug. 26 and 27, is mainly for administrative and team-building purposes and does not feature any formal on-ice activity or public component. All but one of Team USA's players at the 4 Nations Face-Off will attend after finishing second in that tournament. Matthew Tkachuk will not attend, but a player does not have to be at the orientation camp to be on the final Olympic roster, USA Hockey said. Tkachuk was already one of six players named to Team USA, with the others being Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk, Quinn Hughes and Charlie McAvoy. Only five of the invitees have played in the Olympics before. Patrick Kane was at the 2010 and 2014 Olympics, while Ryan McDonagh was on the 2014 team. Brock Faber, Matthew Knies and Jake Sanderson were college hockey players on Team USA at the 2022 Olympics, which did not feature NHLers. After the Americans won gold at the IIHF men's World Championship for the first time in 92 years, 12 players from that squad are part of the orientation camp as well. 44 players invited to U.S. Olympic men's hockey orientation: Breaking down roster
USA Hockey has invited 44 NHL players to an orientation session, providing an early glimpse of who's in the mix for the 2026 Olympics men's hockey team. The session will be held Aug. 26-27 in Plymouth, Michigan. It will be mostly an administrative and team-building event and there won't be any official on-ice activity. USA Hockey said players don't have to attend the orientation session in order to make the final 25-person roster. That team is expected to be announced in early January.
