Power In Democracy Never Permanent, Must Be Wielded With Humility: Rajnath Singh To BJP Leaders

India.com5 hours ago

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday sent a strong message to BJP workers and party leaders outlining that power in democracy is never permanent and should bring humility and not arrogance. Addressing the BJP's three-day training camp in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, Singh cautioned party leaders that power must be wielded with humility. Today the mandate may rest with one leader, he said, but tomorrow it may shift elsewhere.
'Arrogance must be avoided and public service embraced with honesty and accountability,' said the Defence Minister. Citing icons like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Deendayal Upadhyay, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, he painted a portrait of political life centred on values, restraint, and dedication to national service. Rajanth Singh's guidance reflected not only his role as Defence Minister but also his stature as a former BJP national president.
Talking about Operation Sindoor, Singh reiterated 'Jinh mohi mara, te mai maare…' (I hit those who hit me) from the Ramcharitmanas, invoking the spirit behind India's recent Operation Sindoor. His message came just weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, were killed by Pakistan-backed militants.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was India's measured yet assertive response, targeting nine terror hubs linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Defence Minister Singh described Operation Sindoor as a restrained operation guided by justice, not provocation. Amid this backdrop of national resolve, the Defence Minister addressed more than 200 BJP MPs and MLAs at the camp in the hill station Pachmarhi, once a colonial settlement, delivering a powerful message about leadership, morality, and public duty.

Canadian dentist cremated in Lunawada

Vadodara: The only Canadian citizen aboard Flight AI-171 which crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday was cremated in Lunawada in Mahisagar district on Monday. Dr Nirali Patel's body was brought to the town on Monday morning. Nirali, a dentist based in Canada, had come to India for a social function and was returning to Canada via London when the crash took place. Her husband, Dr Devesh Shukla, also a dentist, is from Lunawada. The couple had settled in Ontario. He had stayed back in Canada with their son. Devesh is the son of former Lunawada municipality president Tarlika Shukla, a Lunawada doctor, who was also in Canada when the crash occurred. Sources said Tarlika and her family have been closely associated with the BJP for a long time. Lunawada mamlatdar B P Khant told mediapersons that the deceased's DNA was matched with that of her parents. The body was then handed to relatives, who brought it to Lunawada on Monday morning. A funeral procession was taken from the Shuklas' residence to the crematorium. Many town residents and BJP members joined the procession, apart from family members.

We are public servants, not rulers: Rajnath to BJP leaders

Bhopal: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday gave the valedictory address, concluding the three-day training camp for BJP MLAs, MPs, and ministers from the state. This was the defence minister's first visit to Madhya Pradesh after the success of Operation Sindoor . He said that MPs and MLAs should always remain connected with the organisation because the organisation was there even when the party was not in power. "Respect the workers and listen to them, because the real strength of BJP is the trust of the people and the hard work of the workers," Rajnath Singh said. "Serving the people is in our DNA, we are public servants, not rulers. Win the trust of the people and reach out to them first in times of crisis. Keep your thinking big, expand your vision. Work towards nation-building by taking the ideology of great men forward. Our aim is not to gain power, but to serve the people, so we never compromised on our ideas," he said. "Nation-building and ideology are of utmost importance for us. The ideal worker of Madhya Pradesh is one who never crosses the limits," he said. The Union defence minister said that the tradition of training in the BJP is continuous. "It is a part of the party's working style. Today the BJP is the largest party and has a distinct identity. But three things did not change in this development journey of the party. These are training, cultural nationalism, and the spirit of poor welfare," Rajnath Singh said. He said that the training camp is an opportunity for elected representatives to understand and assimilate the ideological journey of the party, and to introspect. Former BJP National President Rajnath Singh said that former Prime Minister and party patriarch Atal Behari Vajpayee said that the purpose of attaining power should only be for national service. Rajnath Singh also told the senior BJP leaders' congregation, "Do politics with decency, humility, and determination and remember that we are not just going to make or change laws, but also change people's lives. The post you got is really a big responsibility. It is for public service. It is to make India a powerful, developed, and inclusive nation." The Union defence minister said, "Developed India is not our goal, but our resolve. The country is moving towards self-reliance in every field."

Abhishek Banerjee's 5 questions to Centre over accountability on Pahalgam attack

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Monday reiterated the questions he had first raised before the foreign secretary Vikram Misri at a meeting of the parliament standing committee on foreign affairs over the Pahalgam terror attack. Banerjee, who was part of the all-party delegation that travelled to various countries to present India's position on the fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, took to social media handle X and wrote, "It has been over 55 DAYS since the PAHALGAM terror attack. It is deeply concerning that in a democracy neither the mainstream media, members of the opposition, nor the judiciary have stepped forward to raise these five critical questions before the Government of India" advertisement"As a citizen committed to the nation's well-being and as a public representative entrusted with accountability, I raise these five questions before the Government of India," the TMC MP are the five questions raised by the three-time MP from West Bengal: 1. How did four terrorists manage to infiltrate the border and launch an attack that killed 26 innocent civilians? Where is the accountability for this massive breach in national security ?2. If this was an intelligence failure, why was the Intelligence Bureau Chief granted a ONE YEAR EXTENSION, that too barely a month after the attack? Why was he REWARDED RATHER THAN HELD ACCOUNTABLE ? WHAT IS THE COMPULSION ?If the GoI can conveniently use PEGASUS spyware against opposition leaders(including me), journalists and even judges, what stops it from using the same tools against terrorist networks and suspects?advertisement3. Where are the FOUR TERRORIST responsible for this brutal, religion-based massacre? ARE THEY DEAD OR ALIVE ? If they have been neutralized, why has the government failed to make a clear statement? And if they haven't, WHY IS THE SILENCE ?4. When will India reclaim Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK)? Why hasn't the government officially responded to the U.S. President's claim that he persuaded India into a ceasefire with promises of trade - Just as the nation stood together irrespective of their cast, creed religion and political affinity, celebrating the triumph of righteousness and saluting the valour and sacrifice of our armed forces? WHY WERE THE EMOTIONS OF 140 CRORE INDIANS DISREGARDED? What led to such a compromise?5. After reaching out to 33 COUNTRIES post-Pahalgam in the last one month, how many extended explicit support to India?"If we are truly a VISHWAGURU and the world's fourth-largest economy, why did the IMF and World Bank approve $1 BILLION and $40 BILLION in financial assistance and long-term investments to PAKISTAN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PAHALGAM ATTACK ? How did a nation repeatedly involved in cross-border terrorism not only escape global scrutiny but get rewarded?" Banerjee asked as to why was Pakistan appointed Vice-Chair of the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee barely a month later? "Over 2000000000000 (TWO LAKH CRORES) has been spent on external affairs over the past 10 years. The Indian public deserves transparency, accountability and results - NOT SILENCE AND SPIN! THE NATION AWAITS A RESPONSE!" he wrote on Watch
