Wales host U16 tournament to honour ex-boss Speed
The Cwpan Gary Speed will see young players from Wales, Japan, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar compete in Ruthin, Buckley and Colwyn Bay between 26-31 August.
Former Wales manager Speed died tragically in 2011.
"We're very proud to be launching the Cwpan Gary Speed tournament this year, honouring Gary's enduring legacy and his profound impact on Welsh football," said the Football Associaition of Wales' (FAW) chief football officer David Adams.
"We hope the tournament will be a good platform for our future talent to compete and develop on the international stage, serving as a powerful reminder of how Gary's passion and commitment to high performance can shape the future of the game."
Wales will be managed by Adrian Harvey.

A new campaign has been launched to tackle the horrific trend of increased violence against women and girls during and after major sporting events. Crimestoppers, the independent charity giving people the power to speak up and stop crime is behind the campaign and is encouraging people to report the vile abuse. Recent statistics and reports from frontline services have shown that incidents of domestic abuse and gender-based violence spike around the time of significant sporting occasions. On days when England won, there was a 47 per cent rise in alcohol-related domestic abuse. These events, while a source of national pride and community, can also act as triggers for harmful behaviours in some individuals, putting women and girls at greater risk. Lydia Patsalides spokesperson for the charity Crimestoppers said: 'Sport should unite and inspire us, and for the most part it does. But we cannot ignore the well-documented rise in violence towards women and girls that coincides with major fixtures. These are not isolated incidents - they represent a national issue that affects communities across the UK.' The new campaign encourages the public to recognise the signs of violence and use Crimestoppers anonymous reporting service to speak up safely if they are concerned about someone's wellbeing. Crimestoppers is also working with sporting bodies, law enforcement agencies and support charities to spread awareness, challenge harmful attitudes, and promote prevention strategies at every level. A spokesman said: "If you see something say something. By speaking up – 100% anonymously – you could help save lives. No tip is too small, and your voice is vital."

Tredegar's Cole Pikulski winning now for pro boxing future
"All he's ever wanted to do is box," says Pawel Pikulski of his son Cole. "He wants to be a professional boxer and possibly represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at the Olympics. This is his ambition. There is no plan B." Such ambition is apparently no pipe dream, according to Gavin Rees, head coach at Pantside Amateur Boxing Club, near Newbridge, where 15-year-old Cole Pikulski has trained for four years. "He's one of our most dedicated boxers. The other boxers look up to him and want to follow in his footsteps. As a future professional we're sure that he'll be on the way to the top as a champion." Cole lives in Tredegar with dad Pawel and mum Eugenia. "He never turns down a bout," said Pawel. "He wants as much boxing experience as possible. His coach Gavin Rees is a former world champion who held the WBA super lightweight title. Cole has three weekly sessions at Pantside and does strength and conditioning training with me. "Cole is now Welsh Champion for the fourth time. He's also won this year's Warehouse Box Cup held in Neath. The final was his 50th bout. Nobody had ever boxed in our family, but I always loved the sport and encouraged Cole. He's always thoroughly enjoyed it." "I love everything about boxing,' said Cole. "The training, making friends at the club, competing and most of all winning. I like to swim in the sea to relax. "I'm learning a lot from Gavin who had a distinguished professional career over 16 years, as long as I've been alive. I also admire Venezuelan boxer Edwin Valero who remained undefeated in two weight classes and Vasily Lomachenko who is a reigning world lightweight champion." "Consistency is the key in any sport," said Rees. "Cole is a consistent winner. He's been a champion in a dozen events over the last four years, starting off at 36 kg and now at 52kg. These include winning in a tournament in Portugal. The future is bright." Like all elite athletes Cole needs sponsorship.
