'The Walking Dead' actor Chris Coy joins 'Lanterns' cast
Treme and The Walking Dead actor Chris Coy has joined the cast of HBO's upcoming drama series Lanterns, based on the G reen Lantern DC comic, reported Deadline.
In a guest-starring role, Coy will play the new character of 'Waylon Sanders,' an intelligent survivor or nervous truck driver. His age and real name are unknown, but he's unbound by the laws of nature, reported the outlet.
The actor joins the previously announced cast of Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Sherman Augustus, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Jason Ritter, and Nathan Fillion.
According to Deadline, the series, from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler).
They are two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
The eight-episode series is being roduced by HBO in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios.
According to the outlet, the drama series is directed and produced by James Hawes. Filmmakers Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov have also been tapped to direct some episodes of the TV series.
Coy will next be seen supporting Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor in Bad Robot's upcoming Flowevale Street, followed by his series regular role opposite Jason Bateman and Jude Law in the Netflix limited series Black Rabbit, reported Deadline.
Coy's acting portfolio includes David Oyelowo's Bass Reeves, Amazon series The Peripheral and Billy Porter-directed episode of Fox's Accused.
The actor has also starred in the ABC miniseries Women of the Movement and was a series regular for David Simon opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal on HBO's The Deuce, reported Deadline.

Discovery has revealed that HBO Max, its flagship global streaming service, will roll out direct-to-consumer access in 12 additional countries this July. Future programming includes highly anticipated series like Task and IT: Welcome to Derry, along with beloved classics like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and reality hits such as 90 Day Fiancé from TLC and Gold Rush from Discovery. Select markets will also gain access to HBO Max's sports content, which features some of the world's premier live events. The Premium Plan, meanwhile, enables streaming on four devices in 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos support where available, along with up to 100 downloads for offline use. The service will be compatible with major devices, including select mobile phones, tablets, and connected TVs. Subscribers will have the option to pay using widely accepted methods such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, and through in-app purchases via the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Samsung Checkout. Lisa Kudrow may avoid 'The White Lotus' season 4 over dark themes
Lisa Kudrow, known for her iconic role in the popular sitcom 'Friends', has expressed her reservations about joining the cast of HBO's acclaimed satire series 'The White Lotus' for its fourth season. In a conversation with 'White Lotus' star Parker Posey, Kudrow shared her concerns about the show's dark themes. "I do get nervous about inhabiting things that are too dark," Kudrow explained, stating that she tends to avoid such roles, as quoted by E! News. Posey, who played the lorazepam-loving matriarch Victoria Ratliff in season three, encouraged Kudrow to reconsider, joking that a large enough TikTok campaign might persuade her. Despite her hesitation to join 'White Lotus', Kudrow expressed admiration for series creator Mike White's work, particularly his 2017 film 'Brad's Status' starring Ben Stiller. "I emailed him to let him know, because I had to, it was so good, I had to. I don't do that a lot," she said, adding that she would "love" to collaborate with White in the future. White has already hinted at stylistic changes for the upcoming season, including a shift in scene transitions. "For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the 'crashing waves against rocks' vernacular," he revealed in an HBO Max video, as per E! News. The show's sound design may also undergo changes following the departure of composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer due to creative differences.
