LAKE CHARLES, La. — Garry Clark finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 62-48 victory over Houston Christian on Sunday night in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament.
The fifth-seeded Islanders (20-13) advance to play No. 4 seed Northwestern State on Monday. The winner will play No. 1 seed McNeese in a Tuesday semifinal.

In a day full of emotional whiplash, Sunday's regionals ended in desolation at College Station, Texas. After the Aggies fell behind 6-0 to unseedeed Liberty, they stormed back to ultimately pull out a 14-11 win in eight innings and force a winner-take-all game against the Lady Flames. The Aggies then jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the nightcap before Liberty right fielder Rachel Roupe homered to open the scoring for Liberty. Texas A&M gave up another five runs to go down 6-3, before ultimately losing 6-5 following a spirited comeback attempt. "I'm just trying to process everything," Roupe said about the Flames' historic win on ESPN2 after the game. " ... Weight lifted off your shoulder. We were battling all day long. It took us, I don't know, many hours? Eight hours? Whatever we needed to do to get it done, we did it." The five-run sixth was ultimately the difference for the Lady Flames, and the Aggies were unable to overcome the late onslaught. Elite 2026 4-star Edge sends message after his Texas A&M official visit One of Texas A&M's first 2026 commitments in the 2026 class has now made it known to the rest of the country that he is 100% locked in with the Aggies, as four-star defensive end Jordan Carter will reportedly shut down his recruitment during his recent interview with TexAgs recruiting analyst Jason Howell, who has been steadily tracking Carter's recent uptick in outside attention. Coach Mike Elko has continued to impress both the fan base and the Aggie media with his ability to recruit the state of Georgia, which began with the landing of 2026 four-star Aaron Gregory, followed by Jordan Carter in late October. After shutting down his recruitment last weekend, Gregory could end up being the program's highest-ranking commit by the end of the year. Carter's ascension as a pass rusher has led to Tennessee and Florida State making strong pushes over the last two months. During his 2024 junior season with Douglas County HS, Carter recorded 62 tackles, 35 solo tackles, 13 sacks, and 17 tackles for loss. According to 247Sports, Carter is currently positioned as the 114th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 14th-ranked Edge, and the 10th-ranked prospect in Georgia. Jackson Bailey, former Prairie View A&M college football player, dead at 22
Former Prairie View A&M football player Jackson Bailey has died, the program announced on Tuesday. The cause of death for the 22-year-old has not been revealed. Bailey joined the football program for the 2023 season but did not appear in any games for the university located in Texas. 4 Jackson Bailey of Prairie View A&M died on Tuesday due to an unknown cause. 'The Prairie View A&M University Department of Athletics extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, teammates and fraternity brothers of Jackson 'Jacks' Bailey, a cherished member of the Panther football program and the PVAMU community,' the university's statement read. 'Jackson joined the football team for the 2023–24 season. Although he did not appear in any official games, his presence and energy were felt deeply within the locker room and across campus.
