Niruj Mohan Ramanujam, Head of IIA's Science Communication, Public Outreach, and Education (SCOPE) section, explained that during this event, the sun reaches its zenith, causing vertical objects to cast no visible shadows as they fall directly beneath them.

In Bengaluru, this phenomenon occurs typically around April 24–25 and again on August 18, he stated.
Zero Shadow Day will reach the Tropic of Cancer on June 21, the summer solstice and the end of Uttarayana—the sun's northward journey in the Hindu calendar, Ramanujam added.

Mani is a Bharatiya Janata Party MP in Lok Sabha representing Deoria in Uttar Pradesh. According to the organisation behind the idea, AILF empowers legislators with insights to craft inclusive, future-ready laws that balance innovation with accountability in an increasingly AI-driven world. Rabindra Narayan Behera, the BJP MP from Jajpur seat, spoke about AI and its connection with Hindu mythology. Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, the TDP MP in Lok Sabha, spoke about technology used in agriculture in Andhra Pradesh, where the TDP is the ruling party under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Sujeet Kumar, the BJP MP in Rajya Sabha, spoke about the flip sides of AI. We need a humanistic AI that can reach anywhere and to everyone. Space Day: Talk on Space Science
The Cosmology Education and Research Training Center (COSMOS), Mysuru, of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, in association with the University of Mysore, will be organising National Space Day - 2025 on August 23 at 11 a.m. The event will take place at the Seminar Hall of Vijnana Bhavan on the University of Mysore campus here. S. Seetha, former director, Space Science Programme Office, ISRO, and visiting scientist, Raman Research Institute (widely known for her contributions to AstroSat and Mangalyaan missions) will deliver a special lecture titled 'From rockets to satellite missions - Growth of Space Science in India.' The talk will be bilingual (English and Kannada) and open to students, teachers, and the general public. There is no registration for the programme.

India progressing towards indigenous fighter jet: DRDO scientist
Madurai: India is making strides towards developing a fully indigenous fighter aircraft, said Dr Dillibabu Vijayakumar, senior scientist, DRDO , ministry of defence, while addressing the Youth Astronomy & Space Science Congress (YASSC) 2025 at Sivakasi in Virudhunagar on Saturday. The two-day event, hosted for the first time in Sivakasi by the Tamil Nadu Astronomy Science Society (TASS) at Sri Kaliswari College, drew over 350 students from across Tamil Nadu. Around 170 teams comprising about 500 students will present research papers during the congress. In his keynote, Dr Vijayakumar stressed the importance of indigenous research for nation-building and urged students to pursue science with focus and persistence to achieve both personal success and technological advancement for the nation. The inaugural session was attended by Dr Niruj Mohan Ramanujam, scientist, Indian Institute of astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore; Dr Chrisphin Karthick, scientist, IIA, Bangalore; G Ramesh, president, TASS; J Manohar, general secretary, TASS; Dr A T Ravichandran, president, Raman Research Foundation; and A P Selvarajan, secretary, Sri Kaliswari College.
