College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) students swapped their workwear for their finest attire to attend the annual Greenmount Campus formal recently.
The event held at Tullyglass House Hotel brought together agriculture, floristry, horticulture, land-based engineering, and veterinary nursing students for a well-deserved night of celebration.
The hotel provided the perfect setting for a night of dining and dancing with laughter and music filling the room, according to the organisers.
For many, it was a chance to catch up with friends, share stories, and make memories before the demands of exams and final pieces of coursework fully set in.

Students were delighted to welcome back to CAFRE Clare Gowell, who had studied for a semester at Greenmount Campus, as part of the student exchange programme with Michigan State University (MSU) in the autumn.
Clare attended the event with current MSU student, Mariah Palazzola. The students completed agriculture and horticulture modules for a semester at the Greenmount Campus during the 2024-2025 academic year.
There was also generous support from local agri-food businesses who donated an array of prizes for a charity raffle.
A total of £1,246 was raised for the Student Council's nominated charities, Friends of the Cancer Centre and Kidney Research.
CAFRE has wished all of its students well in their forthcoming assessments, and for some their final exams at CAFRE Greenmount Campus.

Ryan Tubridy's fiancee on unique wedding dress hunt ahead of Rose of Tralee role

Ryan Tubridy's fiancée Dr Clare Kambamettu has confirmed she will be a judge at this year's Rose of Tralee. A former contestant herself, Clare took part in the festival in 2010 as the London Rose, while living and working in the UK. She will now join a distinguished judging panel that includes RTÉ presenter Nuala Carey, Aisling Murphy of sponsor Murphy's New Homes, and fashion designer Don O'Neill - all tasked with selecting the next Rose. The judges will also evaluate 30 international Roses, who are currently on their Rose Tour, making stops in Meath, Limerick and Tralee before the competition kicks off in Kerry from August 15 to 19. Clare confirmed her attendance this year while shopping for a second hand wedding dress ahead of her nuptials to Ryan Tubridy. The couple got engaged while on holiday in the west of Ireland earlier this summer. Clare told the Leinster Express / Laois Live that she is already shopping for her preloved wedding dress and paid a visit to the bridal floor of St Vincent's shop in Portlaoise. "I've bought second hand clothes for years - my pal Sarah Kate Byrne from Tullow (now living in London and working as a very successful stylist using mostly vintage fashion) helped me to put together my wardrobe for Tralee in 2010 using our local charity shops in London and ever since I've continued the habit. Ryan Tubridy shares stunning photos with fiancée Dr Clare Kambamettu at sun-soaked Wimbledon "I try to reduce my environmental footprint where I can and buying a wedding dress definitely feels like a good opportunity to do that, there's tonnes of second hand wedding dresses out there that are just gorgeous and I'm only going to wear it once. "I think now more than ever the charities around Ireland, particularly SvP are doing so much to support vulnerable people, buying second hand is a wonderful way to give something back. "I didn't find my wedding dress in VdP Portlaoise but I did find a couple of fab dresses which I'll be wearing in Tralee this year," Clare added. New index makes best place to live in Ireland Crystal Clear

The 'most liveable' county in Ireland is crystal clear according to a ranking of weather, housing and local amenities. The Ireland Liveability Index, updated yesterday, scores each of the 26 counties in the Republic for the key parameters that will influence whether people want to move there to start their ideal home. The Crystal County didn't rank well when it came to residential property prices, but more than made up for it in other categories. Waterford has topped Ireland's liveability index. Pic: Getty Images Waterford's high-demand location led it to be ranked in the middle of the list at 13th place, with a median house price of €222,000. However, nearby Wicklow was at the very bottom of the category with a median house price of €420,000, higher even than Dublin. Naturally, the 'sunny southeast' fared much better when it came to the weather ranking. Pic: Getty Images 'As a nation of sun worshippers, we depart in our droves to foreign climates every year for our sun holidays,' the index stated. 'But did you know there is considerable variation in sunshine levels across our island? The far southeast receives over 1,600 hours of sunshine per annum. This contrasts with 1,000 hours in the more mountainous areas of the west.' Waterford is the third sunniest county, with 1,356 hours per year, behind Wexford and Dublin. Another category was each county's proximity to a city. 'We might dream of getting away from the hassle of city life, but many of us like having the facilities and convenience of a city nearby,' the index explained. Dublin took the top spot, followed by Cork, Galway and Limerick. The average Waterford resident was evaluated as living 16 kilometres from the city, placing the county in fifth place. Kerry was determined to be the county with the most natural beauty, and coastal counties dominated this category of the list. Waterford fought off some fierce competition to be ranked ninth in this category, between Leitrim and Cork, with its liveability boosted by access to the stunning Comeragh Mountains and beaches along the famous Copper Coast. When the overall rankings were calculated, Waterford took the top spot, no doubt to the frustration of their neighbours in the second-ranked county, Wexford. 1 Waterford 2 Wexford 3 Donegal 4 Cork 5 Clare 6 Galway 7 Dublin 8 Louth 9 Wicklow 10 Kerry

More info Ryan Tubridy has shared stunning snapshots from his trip to Wimbledon with fiancée Dr Clare Kambamettu. The couple enjoyed the sunshine and the famous Pimms drinks at the London tennis tournament, and dressed up for the occasion. The radio presenter looked dapper in a blue suit jacket with white trousers, while Dr Clare shone in a simple khaki dress. Her beautiful engagement ring was also visible as she held up her glass of Pimms, with the diamond sparking in the sunlight. The broadcaster said that he has grown up watching the wold-renowned tournament. "I've been watching this event since I was a young boy and love the sights and sounds of the tournament. I was weaned on the likes of John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl and Boris Becker," he penned in his Mail on Sunday column. "It was an era of cranky superstars and Robinson's orange cordial and linesmen/women who risked their lives as they crouched and waited for a ball to come towards them at 120mph." They were not the only Irish celebrities present for the games, with Angela Scanlon and Eve Hewson making an appearance. Ryan and his bride-to-be became engaged in June, when he got down on one knee during a staycation in the West of Ireland. Speaking on the radio, he said: "I have a little bit of news that I've been keeping to myself - to ourselves. "I'm very, very, very happy to confirm I did get engaged to my partner Clare in the West of Ireland on Thursday evening. It is a very beautiful feeling,. We were surrounded by gorgeous people who we didn't know, strangers in the hotel, and people who were working around the place. I got a beautiful ring organised and the weather was gorgeous." Ryan kept the rest of the details under wraps for now, until he can tell his family, but he added that the "world feels lighter" for him. The broadcaster continued: "And it's just the accumulation of a lot of lovely things happening, and I just decided now is the time. More to follow in terms of details and all the rest of it. And by the more to follow, I mean I'll tell my family first. "It's a very exciting time to be alive. I'm a very, very lucky man, and I think it's one of those beautiful moments where the world feels lighter."
