As of June 21, the sun has officially moved into its Fourth House (where it will stay until July 22) and, naturally, Cancerians (including me) are thriving. The universe has aligned to center the qualities that define the water sign: beach days are abundant, Love Island continues to generate heat post-finale, and the current trend cycle is all about aquatic motifs.
If you were to combine this season's buzziest fashion trends, the resulting ensemble would resemble the world's chicest aquarium. Sardine motifs are everywhere, clam diggers are trending, and virtually every sandal on the market has been topped with bubble-like metallic orbs.
The presence of these glitzy baubles can be traced back to the runways of Tory Burch and Khaite, when the two designers introduced metallic embellishments into their respective collections — Khaite, via its studded Benny Belt and Elena Bag, and Burch through the viral Pierced Mules. Individually, each of these styles inspired countless duplications and new iterations. Together, their widespread popularity influenced brands across the board, eventually culminating in the oceanic shoe trend we're seeing today.
Today's adornments boast a three-dimensional, spherical shape, giving shoes an overall air of ethereal effervescence. The look is bubbling up in every corner of the footwear space — from Paris Couture Week runways to your local shopping mall — and is shoppable at every possible price point. Here are the most stylish styles.
While some baubles currently trending are perfectly symmetrical, certain shoemakers have chosen to embrace embellishments with more natural-looking, organic shapes. Options may resemble a sea-smoothed pebble or a hammered-textured button. The subtle detail furthers this trend's earthy undercurrents, giving wearers that Chloé-chic, boho look that's likewise trending.
Sandals With Orb Toe Toppers
It's a toe-forward summer in more ways than one, and this look plays directly into those themes. One of the season's most prevalent sandal styles features reflective marble-like spheres affixed to a lone strap, giving the illusion of an oversized toe ring. Though they all have this element in common, silhouettes run the gauntlet — from delicate and strappy to chunky slides and beyond.
Sandals With Spherical Heels
Though these orb-like additions are typically used as the proverbial cherry on top, some sandals utilize the detail in more minimalistic ways. If you're shopping for an understated interpretation (say, for work), consider shoes with spherical heels. Styles still retain that distinct, fresh-from-the-sea feel, but in a much more inconspicuous way.
Strappy Sandals With Metal Detailing
A good pair of strappy sandals can get you through every wedding, grad party, and backyard barbecue of the summer. These metallic-detailed styles provide the same versatility as their more minimalist counterparts, but with a posh, metallic component. It's a small detail that makes a considerable impact.

Katie Holmes Knows the Power of a Pop of Red Shoe

Katie Holmes's street style is hard to match. When spotted out on the streets of New York, you'll often find her with a buzzy handbag (Manu Atelier being a go-to, and any others she'll have a hand in selling out fast), covetable outerwear, a classic and statement shoe, or some playful accessory. (Beanies, for winter into spring). On the red carpet, she loves a freaky shoe and a chic dress from a favored brand like Khaite. The actor has spent the last few weeks directing Happy Hours, her latest project, a new feature film trilogy she's written and in which she also stars alongside former Dawson's Creek co-star Joshua Jackson. Photos from set have shown Holmes both in costume and in some stellar director fits. One character look in particular, where she wore a pair of blue denim overalls and brown boots, even recalled the vibe of her Dawson's Creek character Joey. Another, much more in keeping with Holmes's own personal style, saw her don a relaxed pink blazer and wide leg denim jeans. This week, Holmes was spotted arriving back to the set in a quintessentially 'summer in the city for Katie Holmes' look. The writer-actor-director wore an open, cropped pale blue shirt that sat off of one shoulder, a scoopneck white tank top, a graphic brown, cream and beige slip skirt with a breezy front slit by Isabel Marant, and a pop of red pair of velvet Mary Jane flats. It was a simple, summery look, with a dash of color to make it look considered and put together a la Holmes. Jose Perez/Bauer-Griffin Photo: Backgrid In recent times, she's been photographed in looks that keep to her effortlessly cool, downtown style; toting the iconic Chloé Paddington bag to and from set, doing the director's strut in western-coded ankle boots. Is Katie Holmes in pride of place among the best dressed directors of all time? Her Happy Hours stint will confirm.

Closed-Toe Shoes Absolutely Deserve a Place in Your Summer Wardrobe—Here's Why

It is, indeed, the summer of the flip-flop—but sometimes you just need a closed-toe summer shoe. Maybe you're going to the office, taking public transit, or you simply didn't refresh your pedicure this week. It's too hot for boots, and some situations call for something a bit less casual than sneakers. Whatever the reason for covering up, you'll still want to stay comfortable and cool. That's where our chic yet practical closed-toe favorites come in. These styles pair easily with long shorts or a bubble skirt for summer, and they'll also carry you into fall with classic denim or a knit maxi. Don't wait to stub your toe on a rogue street trash bag—shop our favorites below. Tory Burch has seriously stepped up its shoe game. I saw these pierced wedges at the SoHo store a few weeks ago and had to stop myself from trying them on. They're so unique and chic at the same time—and as a summer shoe that's not a sandal, they're perfect. Shoe sizes: US 5-12 Colors available: Red, black, patent tan Heel height: 1.77 inches Materials: Leather 'Summer is practically synonymous with raffia. These flats are the perfect shoe to wear over and over again throughout the season.'—Alexis Bennett Parker, commerce content lead Colors available: Raffia, black, olive, light blue, light yellow, red, rust Materials: 82% cotton, 18% leather I love a simple satin slide for summer—especially when it comes in one of this season's trending colors: lemon yellow (or, sure, butter yellow, if you want to call it that). Manolo Blahnik does it best, of course. Colors available: Yellow/green Heel height: 0.25 inches Materials: Satin with leather lining A slipper flat is an easy, sleek way to be summer-ready (even if your toes aren't). Burgundy is another It color for 2025, so start the trend early with these from Le Monde Beryl. Shoe sizes: EU 35-42 (US 5-12) Colors available: Burgundy, black, leopard, silver, ivory, brown, nude, tan Materials: Lamb leather 'Jellies are so back, and Ancient Greek Sandals is largely responsible. These Tony Bianco pumps also have the perfect kitten heel for summer adventures, with just enough edge to elevate any outfit, any season. Miu Miu may have brought them back, but Sperry does the boat shoe like no other—and this sleek gray colorway is perfect for a subtle summer look. Shoe sizes: US 5-11 Colors available: Grey, green, yellow Heel height: N/A I admit: I was shocked at how comfortable these loafers from Odissi are. I have them in snake-print leather, and they're my new go-to when it comes to a closed-toe shoe situation. I can wear them all day without any blisters or pain—which is saying a lot for loafers. Shoe sizes: EU 36-40 (US 6-10) Colors available: Cow print Materials: Calf hair and leather A sneaker in the summer is a classic, sure. But a sneaker slide for summer is innovative. Groundbreaking, even. Mix casual comfort with sleek efficiency, and a dash of the aforementioned snake print trend, and you've got yourself the perfect summer shoe. Colors available: Python, grey, navy, brown Materials: Python-embossed leather Mesh flats continue to have their moment, especially in the summer. These butter yellow beauties from Rag & Bone are a great Mary Jane style to have in your summer rotation to keep you cool and stylish. Shelve Your Statement Shoes for the Statement Toe Ring

This little piggy went to market, and this little piggy added a toe ring to cart. Brazilian model and influencer Lívia Nunes Marques had long wanted to tap the toe ring trend, but couldn't find any that actually fit her toes. So, she had them custom made. 'I think these little details can completely transform a look,' she says. 'I love the idea of 'put a rock on her hand,' so I thought, why not 'put a rock on her toes?!'' She'll often pair them with flip-flops, enjoying the juxtaposition of rubbery straps and metal. 'I love stacking more than one ring per toe.' The toe is the décolletage du jour. While the cloven-hoofed Maison Margiela Tabi transcended from its position as cult cool girl shoe some time ago, even the less esoteric among us are testing out the toe-accentuating and toe-baring side of fashion. Flip-flops have become—almost—office appropriate, peeking out from under sleek tailored pants. The early '00s peep-toe heel finds fans in everyone from Addison Rae to Cate Blanchett. Toe ring sandals from Khaite and Tory Burch are stomping up and down the West Village, and in London, the Vibram FiveFingers—a minimalist five-toe shoe made for hiking, weight-lifting, and training—abound. Jude the Label has found a cohort of celebrity fans from Chloë Sevigny to Tracee Ellis Ross for its freaky, sexy, outré 'Date' mule, with a sliver of a cut-out toe. But it's the toe ring, the '90s and aughts accessory often associated with the beach, that's less libidinal, more luxe—on the Rabanne and Burberry runways, on the feet of Rihanna. Most recently: a gold band with three diamond prongs encircled Bad Bunny's toe on the cover of his latest single, 'Alambre Púa.' Marques has plenty of others to go to toe-to-toe with too in the world of digital decoration.
