Fake daughter, phoney son & AI generated wife – how shameless influencers are cashing in on Andy Byron kiss cam scandal

The Sun21-07-2025
SHAMELESS influencers have turned the Coldplay kiss cam scandal into a viral bonanza of misinformation, AI fakes and outright impersonation.
Online opportunists have been scrambling to cash in from the chaos - all for more online views and clout.

Caught canoodling alleged mistress and HR boss Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert in Boston, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has since resigned from the $1.3 billion company amid an internal probe and global scrutiny.
Even though the shocking kiss cam clip is real, there has been a minefield of fabricated family members, botched AI statements, and dodgy drama-hungry TikTokers.
It started with a TikTok user named thatmarinagirll, who posted a moody clip of herself by a bonfire, captioned: 'Reconnecting with life after your dad's affair makes national news.'
The video exploded – racking up 5.1 million likes and over 37 million views – with viewers believing she was Byron's distraught daughter.
Marina went on to post her friend's reaction to her "dad's" ordeal, and in a separate post, the fake daughter posts a snap of her crying, with the caption "probably needed a hug".
She even teased to film a 30-part video series explaining everything.
But it all turned out to be a lie.
Family photos on Kerrigan's now-deleted Facebook page also back this up.
Even Elon Musk's AI bot Grok weighed in to debunk the claim, stating: 'There is no credible evidence of anyone named Marina being Andy Byron's daughter… This claim seems baseless or mistaken.'

Another viral TikTok user, Joe Castle Baker, posted a dramatic video claiming to be Byron's 'angry' and 'devastated' son.
He even blamed Coldplay for not providing 'confidentiality' during their concert.
Despite a flood of sympathy in the comments, his claims were also debunked.
The other man is not related to Byron in any way, he simply jumped on the trend, reports National World.
The real Byron sons remain silent and offline for now.
TikTokers like Marina and Joe could earn good cash from video views through the TikTok Creator Fund.
If they decide to monetise the videos, they're paid a small amount per 1,000 views based on engagement and other metrics.
In their case, videos that make millions of views would bring a good chunk of money into their pockets.
In a separate viral clip, a bizarre AI-generated 'Megan Kerrigan' appears in front of dramatic footage of the kiss cam scandal, delivering a tearful monologue and misnaming her husband as 'Byron Andy.'
The synthetic voice says: 'I am Megan, Byron Andy's wife.
'Seeing that recent video completely shattered my heart.'
She then claims the video 'pushed me to the brink of collapse,' blaming both her husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for magnifying her pain.
Worse still, a Facebook account impersonating Megan Kerrigan Byron has been spewing a torrent of fake updates.

Created on July 18, the bogus account posted: 'Not sure I can ever forgive Andy for such a disgrace.'
That post alone gathered 1.8k reactions and over a thousand comments.
Other posts included a golf course picture and fake updates: 'Thank y'all for the sweet messages, the encourage and the love… I'll take time to respond to y'all later.'
The impersonator didn't stop there.
In a longer fake post, 'Megan' announced a divorce and plans to seek alimony — asking followers for 'moral support' and even hinting at financial assistance.
The fake wife's final act was posting the kiss cam video itself, captioned: 'This is really heartbreaking, wish this video can be taken off the internet!'
In reality, the real Megan Kerrigan has removed her married surname from social media and deleted both Facebook and Instagram entirely.
The real story
While the avalanche of impersonations is fake, the kiss cam video that sparked it all is painfully real.
And more footage captured from behind their seats, obtained by TMZ, shows the pair silhouetted by stage lights as Coldplay performed 'Yellow'.
Byron and Cabot were caught cuddling at Coldplay's Boston show, their faces splashed across Gillette Stadium's jumbo screen as Chris Martin quipped: 'They're either having an affair… or they're very shy.'
Seconds later, Byron dropped his arm and ducked behind a barrier as Cabot covered her face.
As he caught view of himself, Byron appeared to say "f****** hell, it's me".
Martin added, laughing nervously: 'Oh s***, I hope we didn't do something bad.'

The fan who captured the original kiss cam moment told The U.S. Sun she had no idea the couple were senior tech executives.
Cabot, who goes by Kristin Cabot Thornby on LinkedIn, remains married herself, according to property records obtained by the Daily Mail.
The alleged mistress is also reportedly married into one of the most elite and wealthiest dynasties in American history.
The scandal has also sparked a deluge of fake statements and memes — from a phoney Coldplay apology to a fake Byron 'confession' quoting Fix You lyrics.
One viral fake claimed Byron was taking accountability for a 'deeply personal mistake,' ending with: 'Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.'
Astronomer's spokesperson swiftly shut that down, telling TMZ: 'This is not a real statement.'
Another viral joke post, allegedly from Coldplay's official X account, promised future concerts would include 'camera-free audience sections for people and their sidepieces.'
Grok again jumped in, saying: 'This screenshot is fabricated… Likely a joke.'
Even more bizarre was a fake firing claim by a man named Alex Cohen, who wrote that he was let go from Astronomer for booking the Coldplay tickets that led to the kiss cam moment.
The chaos has also rippled through Astronomer, with employees and ex-staffers reacting with glee and disbelief.
'Group chats were blowing up,' one former colleague told the New York Post.

Hulk Hogan's widow hits back at 'misleading stories' after his daughter Brooke's shocking Scientology claim

Hulk Hogan 's widow, Sky Daily, has clapped back at her late husband's estranged daughter, Brooke Hogan, with a lengthy post after she made a shocking Scientology claim. Daily called Brooke's affirmation about the reason behind her husband's passing 'misleading stories' Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, died on July 24 from a cardiac arrest, according to a Florida medical examiner's office. The 71-year-old had previously had leukemia and atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm, the report from the District Six Medical Examiner also said. But in response to an Instagram post publicizing an article by radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge that reads 'Quick cremation without autopsy raises questions about Hulk Hogan's death', Hogan's daughter Brooke posted 'exactly'. Bubba's allegations include that Hogan's body has already been cremated, somebody could have injected something into the wrestler's dialysis port while he slept to induce a heart attack and questions around why an autopsy wasn't carried out. 'There are heartbreakingly misleading media stories created by faceless AI accounts or by people not close enough to truly know what was happening. Please be patient and know this: he was deeply loved, well cared for, and surrounded by that love until his very last moment,' Daily said on Instagram. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sky Daily Hogan (@ Bubba, whose real name is Todd Clem, also references the fact that Hogan's wife Sky Daily has links to Scientology and pointed out that Hogan has an estate that he claims to be worth in the region of $40million to $50m. Clem did not offer facts to substantiate his stunning claims, which stem from a report in the Tampa Bay Times from July 31 that says Hogan was 'doing therapy' when he collapsed at his home in Clearwater Beach on July 24. The report says paramedics told staff at Morton Plant Hospital that Hogan had just returned home from surgery and was 'currently waiting to start dialysis'. Clem claims nobody knew the wrestling icon was due to begin dialysis. In a bid to revive him, medics reportedly gave Hogan drugs that can treat excessive levels of potassium, a sign of kidney failure. These can lead to cardiac arrest. Hogan was also given two milligrams of Narcan, the drug that can quickly reverse opioid overdoses. There is no indication that Hogan had overdosed. However, The Tampa Bay Times also revealed the Pinellas County Medical Examiner did not perform an autopsy on Hogan because his death was not deemed to be suspicious.

Margot Robbie and Jay Hernandez reunite to celebrate Suicide Squad co-star Cara Delevingne's birthday

Margot Robbie and Jay Hernandez reunited in Los Angeles on Monday night as they stepped out to celebrate the birthday of their Suicide Squad co-star Cara Delevingne. The A-list duo was spotted arriving at Chateau Marmont, one of Hollywood's most exclusive venues, for an advance celebration ahead of Cara's 33rd birthday on August 12. Margot, 35, looked effortlessly chic in a stylish halter neck crop top paired with baggy black trousers and open-toed heels. The Barbie star wore her blonde hair in soft waves around her shoulders and completed the ensemble with a sleek black designer handbag. Walking closely beside her was Jay Hernandez, 47, who played El Diablo in the 2016 DC film. The actor cut a dapper figure in a black button-up dress shirt, teamed with dark jeans and sneakers. The pair appeared to be in high spirits as they entered the venue together arm-in-arm, smiling and chatting as they joined the festivities. Margot is one of Australia's most renowned actresses and after getting her big break on Neighbours in 2008, she soared to fame in Hollywood blockbusters, including The Wolf of Wall Street and Barbie. It comes as Margot and her film producer husband Tom Ackerley have been settling into parenthood after welcoming a son in October. Margot's pregnancy was made public in July and the couple enjoyed a romantic 'babymoon' to Sardinia, Italy, at the end of August last year. Tom and Margot first met in 2013 while working on Suite Française, where he was an assistant director, and she was in front of the camera. They cemented their relationship after moving in together with other friends in a four bed house in Clapham, South London, which according to Margot was the 'best days of my life'. The couple later tied the knot in 2016 and have been going strong ever since. They also have a working relationship and are both co-producers on a number of projects, including Hulu's Dollface, through their production company LuckyChap Entertainment. 'I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit,' Margot told Vogue in 2016. 'And then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him,' she said. 'But I thought, "Oh, he would never love me back. Don't make it weird." 'Don't be stupid and tell him that you like him. 'And then it happened, and I was like, of course we're together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.'

British man charged with trying to drown his daughter-in-law in swimming pool on Florida holiday

A British man who allegedly tried to drown his daughter-in-law in a holiday swimming pool in Florida has been charged by police. Mark Raymond Gibbon, 62, of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, allegedly held the 33-year-old underwater repeatedly after they argued about his grandchildren. He allegedly only stopped when a pair of sisters staying next door called the Polk County sheriff's department. The victim's nine-year-old daughter also allegedly jumped into the pool to stop Gibbon from drowning her mother. The family were staying at a rental home in the Solterra Resort of Davenport, Florida, when the incident occurred on Sunday, according to Sheriff Grady Judd. Officers responded to reports of a disturbance in a pool at around 5.20pm local time. "It's great that Polk County draws visitors from all across the world, but we expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our lifelong residents to do the same," said the sheriff. "Because Mr Gibbon couldn't control his anger, he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated." Gibbon was arrested and taken to Polk County Jail, where he was charged with attempted second-degree murder and battery.
