
CM Bhupendra Patel inaugurates first-of-its-kind adventure fest at Dharoi Dam
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday inaugurated Dharoi Adventure Fest, a first-of-its-kind such event, at Dharoi Dam situated on the border of Mehsana and Sabarkantha districts. Various adventure activities and cultural programmes will be part of the festival, which is likely to go on for 45 days. Tented facilities have also been set up for tourists. The aim is to promote the place as a tourist destination.
The CM inaugurated the adventure zone and experienced the thrill of a speedboat ride. He was accompanied by Tourism Minister Mulu Bera.
An official release stated, '…the Dharoi Dam area is being transformed into a world-class, sustainable tourism and pilgrimage destination. The development of the Dharoi region will take place in three phases, enhancing tourism through spiritual, adventure, eco, and recreational activities. This initiative will not only boost visitor engagement but also generate local employment and promote the 'Vocal for Local' mission.'
'… Dharoi is poised to be developed as an 'Iconic Place,' on par with other major tourist destinations across Gujarat. In addition, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the state government is actively engaged in future planning to develop a tourism circuit by enhancing key tourist destinations and pilgrimage sites in North Gujarat, including Polo Forest, Taranga, Vadnagar, and Ambaji,' it added.
Quoting Tourism Secretary Rajender Kumar, the release stated, '…the Dharoi Adventure Fest will span approximately 45 days, featuring a wide range of land-based, water-based and air-based adventure activities for tourists to experience and enjoy. To accommodate visitors, a tent city has been constructed at Dharoi. It includes a total of 21 various types of tents and an air-conditioned dormitory facility with more than 100 beds. '

Gujarat: Over 8 lakh passengers benefited from 2,780 additional buses by GSRTC during summer vacation 2025
The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation ( GSRTC ) operated additional bus services during the summer vacation. From May 1 to May 31, 2025, over 8 lakh passengers benefited from this initiative, according to a release issued by the state government. According to the officials, to improve passenger convenience during the summer vacation, the ST Corporation operated over 1,400 extra express buses daily, connecting key cities across Gujarat. This included nearly 500 trips from Surat to Saurashtra, around 210 from Saurashtra to North Gujarat, approximately 300 from South Gujarat to North Gujarat, and 300 to various destinations within Saurashtra. Additionally, interstate services saw increased passenger traffic on routes between Gujarat and neighbouring states like Maharashtra and Rajasthan. The GSRTC ensured convenient travel to religious and tourist destinations through well-planned services from Ahmedabad. This included 10 daily trips to Ambaji, Somnath, and Dwarka, and five daily trips to Dakor, Pavagadh, and Girnar. For tourist spots like the Statue of Unity, Sasan Gir, and Saputara, five trips were operated daily, while 10 daily services were run to Diu and Kutch. For interstate travel, two daily trips from Ahmedabad connected passengers to Mount Abu and Sundha Mata in Rajasthan, and two trips from Geeta Mandir served Maharashtra destinations like Shirdi, Nashik, and Dhulia. Between May 1 and May 31, 2025, GSRTC operated 2,780 additional buses, completing 16,438 extra trips and serving 8.22 lakh passengers. The same period in 2024 saw 1,988 extra buses, 11,674 trips, and 5.84 lakh passengers. This marks a year-on-year increase of 2.38 lakh passengers availing ST Corporation's summer vacation services. To ensure passenger convenience, ST Corporation conducted 16,438 trips between May 1 and May 31, 2025, covering 15.61 lakh kilometres and generating Rs3.78 crore in revenue. In comparison, May 2024 saw 11,674 trips and Rs2.94 crore in earnings. These figures highlight the state government's commitment to strong leadership and quality public transport infrastructure. "Gujarat's robust public transportation system, accessible to both urban and rural citizens, reflects the visionary leadership of former Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Guided by the Prime Minister and led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government continues to advance transformative reforms in the road transport sector to enhance passenger convenience," said an official release.

World Environment Day: Ahmedabad to get 'Sindoor Van'; CM launches initiative to plant 40 lakh trees
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday inaugurated Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's ' Mission Four Million Trees ' campaign to mark World Environment Day . He also launched the development of ' Sindoor Van ' nature park in Chandlodia ward here by planting a Sindoor (Bixa orellana) sapling at the site, an official release. "A 'Sindoor Van' comprising 551 Sindoor trees is being developed in Chandlodia ward in memory of the civilians who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam as well as to honour Indian armed forces for Operation Sindoor ," the release said. Incidentally, this is the second such park that is coming up in Gujarat dedicated to Operation Sindoor, India's military response to the Pahalgam terror attack. On June 3, authorities in Kutch district had announced that a memorial park in the form of a high-density micro forest dedicated to Operation Sindoor will come up near Bhuj town, which borders Pakistan.
