Ohio State basketball loses former 5-star recruit to transfer portal in last hours.
Just when you thought things were nearly complete with the transfer portal when it comes to Ohio State basketball defections, word comes down that forward Sean Stewart has entered the portal.
Stewart came to Columbus from Duke through the portal during last offseason, so his time in the Scarlet Gray will amount to just one season, one in which he and the team didn't quite live up to expectations. The former five-star recruit averaged 5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 18.4 minutes of play during last season. He appeared in 30 games.
The news adds to several players who have left Columbus via the transfer portal. Center Aaron Bradshaw, forward Evan Mahaffey, center Austin Parks, and guard Meechie Johnson also got sucked into the portal during the offseason. OSU has added Indiana guard Gabe Cupps, Santa Clara center Christopher Tilly, and Wright State forward Brandon Noel from the portal.
The spring portal window will close at midnight on Tuesday, so it's unlikely we'll hear any further news. Jake Diebler will now have to focus on the players that he has coming back to try and turn around a program that desperately needs a bounce-back 2025-2026 season.

Coveted Star Visits Michigan Immediately After Ohio State Meetings
Coveted Star Visits Michigan Immediately After Ohio State Meetings originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes are pushing hard to land the top recruit from Texas. But they have Big Ten competition for the prospect. Advertisement One week after five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo officially visited the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio, Ojo will be in Ann Arbor, Michigan to see the Michigan Wolverines during the first full weekend of June. "Felix Ojo has been a busy man. He has already taken official visits to Colorado, Florida, Ohio State and Ole Miss," On3's Chad Simmons wrote. "The five-star offensive tackle out of Texas will be in Ann Arbor this weekend and the Wolverines have some ground to make up. Texas is setting the pace and Ohio State looks to be the Longhorns' top competition heading into the weekend. "Can the Wolverines become a contender? This is their chance. They would love to dip into Texas, like they did with Ty Haywood a year ago, and steal one." Ohio State Buckeyes football head coach Ryan Day© Kyle Robertson/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images One could argue the Buckeyes are trying to "steal" Ojo instead. Based on Simmons' assessment, Ohio State has a better chance of landing the five-star recruit. Advertisement But the question is whether Michigan can move the needle for Ojo this weekend. Ojo had already posted a picture from the beginning of his Ann Arbor visit early Friday morning. Based on the 247 Sports composite rankings, Ojo is the No. 2 offensive tackle and top Texas recruit in the 2026 class. Ojo is also a top 10 recruit overall, sitting at No. 7 on the 247 Sports composite rankings for the entire class. The tackle will play his final high school season at Lake Ridge in Mansfield, Texas this fall. Ohio State Lands 'Huge Visit' With Coveted Star
Ohio State Lands 'Huge Visit' With Coveted Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Most weekends in June are big recruiting times for the top college football programs. This weekend is no different for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Advertisement On3's Steve Wiltfong reported Friday the Buckeyes have a "huge visit" with four-star offensive lineman Drew Evers. "On300 offensive lineman Drew Evers is a huge visit for the Buckeyes as the defending National Champs have had momentum. The Buckeyes sit at No. 3 in the On3 Industry Standings," wrote Wiltfong. Evers has received dozens of offers according to 247 Sports. In addition to the Buckeyes, the Texas A&M Aggies, Penn State Nittany Lions, Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs, among many others, are pursuing the four-star offensive lineman. Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day© Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Based on the 247 Sports composite rankings, Evers is the No. 13 offensive tackle and 27th-ranked Texas prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Advertisement A Flower Mound, Texas native, Evers is also the No. 209 overall recruit in the class according to the 247 Sports rankings. Evers posted a picture Thursday on his X account about his official visit to the Buckeyes. Evers visited the SMU Mustangs and LSU in May. Next weekend, he is scheduled to see Penn State. Then to end June, Evers will be in College Station, Texas, to visit the Aggies. The Buckeyes would like to continue the recruiting momentum they have with a strong visit with Evers this weekend. While Ohio State sits at No. 3 on the On3 recruiting rankings for 2026, the Buckeyes recently dropped to No. 4 on the 247 Sports ratings. The Clemson Tigers moved up to No. 3. Advertisement Ohio State, though, has a higher quality class than most programs. The Buckeyes are ranked fourth on the 247 Sports rankings despite having just 13 commits. Clemson has 18, and the No. 1-ranked USC Trojans have 27 commitments. Kyle Johnson drives in 5 in Duke's 7-4 win over Murray State; Blue Devils seek first CWS since 1961
DURHAM, N.C. -- Kyle Johnson drove in five runs to power Duke's 7-4 victory over Murray State on Saturday in the first game of the Durham Super Regional. The Blue Devils are one win from reaching the College World Series for the first time since 1961. Game 2 is Sunday. Johnson, a .228 hitter in 57 at-bats coming in, had two doubles and a home run among his four hits and scored twice. Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Duke tied it when Jake Berger drew a leadoff walk and scored on Johnson's two-run home run to center field. Johnson and Berger figured in the Blue Devils' three-run fourth inning. Johnson drove in two with a bases-loaded double that sent Berger to third base. Berger then scored on a wild pitch by Nic Schutte (8-4). In the sixth, Johnson doubled to drive in one run and later scored on a double by Ben Rounds. Duke managed only six hits — four by Johnson — but the Blue Devils benefited from eight walks. Dom Decker had four of Murray State's nine hits and drove in two runs. Duke starter Owen Proksch (4-3) went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. Reid Easterly pitched three scoreless innings for his fifth save. Duke (42-19) is playing in the super regionals for the fourth time. The Racers (42-15) are making their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance and first in the super regionals. ___
