Former Ohio State basketball forward Sean Stewart announces transfer destination
Former Ohio State basketball forward Sean Stewart announces transfer destination On the heels of Ohio State signing another replacement to a revamped roster by landing center Joshua Ojianwuna, a former Buckeye announced where he'll play next year. Sean Stewart only lasted in Columbus for one underwhelming year before hitting the transfer portal. He announced that he'll head west to join the Oregon Ducks. This will be Stewart's third team in three years. He began his college career as a highly touted five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American who would commit to Jon Scheyer and Duke. But things didn't work out in Durham, so Jake Diebler reached out in what looked like, at the time, a big-time get for Ohio State. However, Stewart didn't fare much better in Columbus. He would start 30 games in Scarlet and Gray, but would only average 5.7 points per game and less than six rebounds per contest. The Ducks are banking on getting an ultra-athletic kid who maybe just hasn't found the right fit yet. Time will tell, but time is also running out for that corner to be turned. Diebler has rounded out his roster with the additions of Christoph Tilly, Gabe Cupps, Brandon Noel, and the aforementioned Joshua Ojianwuna. After striking out on transfer portal additions last year, Diebler is hoping for better luck in year two.

Ohio State basketball loses former 5-star recruit to transfer portal in last hours.
Ohio State basketball loses former 5-star recruit to transfer portal in last hours. Just when you thought things were nearly complete with the transfer portal when it comes to Ohio State basketball defections, word comes down that forward Sean Stewart has entered the portal. Stewart came to Columbus from Duke through the portal during last offseason, so his time in the Scarlet Gray will amount to just one season, one in which he and the team didn't quite live up to expectations. The former five-star recruit averaged 5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 18.4 minutes of play during last season. He appeared in 30 games. The news adds to several players who have left Columbus via the transfer portal. Center Aaron Bradshaw, forward Evan Mahaffey, center Austin Parks, and guard Meechie Johnson also got sucked into the portal during the offseason. OSU has added Indiana guard Gabe Cupps, Santa Clara center Christopher Tilly, and Wright State forward Brandon Noel from the portal. The spring portal window will close at midnight on Tuesday, so it's unlikely we'll hear any further news. Jake Diebler will now have to focus on the players that he has coming back to try and turn around a program that desperately needs a bounce-back 2025-2026 season.
