Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick returns from injured list after dealing with hamstring issue
Frelick was leading off and playing right field for the Brewers against the Miami Marlins. The Brewers made room for him by optioning infielder Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville.
The 25-year-old Frelick is batting .294 with a .354 on-base percentage, .404 slugging percentage, seven homers, 39 RBIs and 17 steals in 93 games. He went on the injured list after hurting his hamstring while making a sliding catch in the Brewers' last game before the All-Star break.
'What he brings to the table is special,' Brewers manager Pat Murphy said.
Black, who turned 25 on Saturday, went 2 of 6 with a pair of walks and an RBI in three games with Milwaukee. He has batted .242 with a .359 on-base percentage, three homers, 22 RBIs and five steals in 34 minor league games.

NEW: AP Poll Voters' Most Overrated Preseason College Football Teams since 2014 via @Brett_McMurphy😬 Monday's reveal of the preseason AP Top 25 poll produced a few different results from the previous week's US LBM Coaches Poll. While the team at the top remained the same in both polls with the Texas Longhorns at No. 1, there was a different team at No. 2 with Penn State replacing Ohio State for the runner-up spot in the AP poll. The Clemson Tigers got a better ranking from the various sportswriters and broadcasters who make up the AP's poll. Dabo Swinney's team was ranked No. 4 by the media, up two spots from where the 60-plus coaches in the US LBM poll had them. Which poll got it right? USA TODAY Sports college football analyst Blake Toppmeyer pondered that question with regard to eight top 25 teams and their discrepancies from one preseason poll to the other. For Clemson, Toppmeyer believes that AP voters got it right by slotting the Tigers at No. 4. "Clemson finished with four losses last season, but never mind that fading object in the rearview mirror, because Dabo Swinney retained a talented roster that's now more experienced. Earlier this week, CBS Sports argued that even the Tigers' No. 4 ranking was low. There is, of course, a word of caution about getting too carried away by preseason rankings, regardless of your poll of choice. The 2024 Florida State Seminoles were the toast of the ACC entering last season after going 13-0 to win the league in 2023, only to flop right out of the gate after a preseason top 10 ranking to finish 2-10. It's not just Mike Norvell's 2024 'Noles, either. USC, Oklahoma, Auburn and Texas A&M are just a few of the more frequent disappointments from the past 10 years of preseason poll rankings, as On3's Brett McMurphy recently posited. Twice in the past four years, Clemson's own preseason rankings have yielded some fairly disappointing results by season's end. The Tigers were ranked No. 9 entering the 2023 season but stumbled in a rare four-loss season to No. 20 in the final Coaches Poll. After checking in at No. 2 entering 2021, Clemson landed at No. 16 in the final poll. Conversely, it was 10 years ago this season when the Tigers ranked outside the preseason top 10, only to finish as runner-up to Alabama after falling just one or two plays short against Nick Saban's 2015 Crimson Tide in the national championship game in Glendale, Arizona. When it comes to preseason polls, things are seldom an exact science. Where LSU football WR Aaron Anderson ranks among returning SEC receivers
LSU football lost four of its top five pass catchers from the 2024 squad, but it returns leading receiver Aaron Anderson after the speedster enjoyed a breakout campaign last fall. Anderson caught 61 passes for 874 yards and five scores. That puts Anderson tied for No. 2 among returning SEC wideouts. The only returning SEC wide receiver with more yards than Anderson last fall is Missouri's Kevin Coleman (Coleman spent 2024 at Mississippi State). With Anderson at No. 2 is Ole Miss WR Cayden Lee. Anderson's 61 receptions rank No. 2 among the group, behind Coleman's 74 catches. Anderson is firmly established as one of the top receivers in the SEC. And LSU is optimistic about Anderson taking yet another step in 2025. LSU brought in transfers at the wide receiver position, but Anderson has the clearest path to being Garrett Nussmeier's top target. With LSU's offense expected to be prolific, if Anderson is LSU's leading receiver again, he'll likely be All-SEC with an All-American ceiling. Portland Trail Blazers sale: Carolina Hurricanes' Tom Dundon to buy NBA team
Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon has reached a deal to purchase the Portland Trail Blazers from the estate of Paul Allen, a person with knowledge of the agreement confirmed to USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity they were not authorized to speak publicly until the team makes an announcement. The sale price is not yet available. Sportico reported that the ownership group includes Blue Owl Capital co-president Marc Zahr and Portland-based Sheel Tyle, co-CEO of Collective Global. Allen died in 2018, and in 2023, Jody Allen, Allen's sister and chairperson of the Blazers, Seattle Seahawks and trustee of the Allen estate, said, 'As we've stated before, neither of the teams is for sale and there are no sales discussions happening. "A time will come when that changes given Paul's plans to dedicate the vast majority of his wealth to philanthropy, but estates of this size and complexity can take 10 to 20 years to wind down. There is no pre-ordained timeline by which the teams must be sold. Until then, my focus – and that of our teams – is on winning.' In May 2025, the estate officially put the Blazers on the market, saying proceeds would be used for philanthropy. Last season, the Blazers were 36-46 under coach Chauncey Billups, who received an extension in the offseason. Veteran All-Star guard Damian Lillard signed a deal with the Blazers in the offseason after spending the past two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.
