The Independence Day special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 17 offered viewers insights about the planning and execution of Operation Sindoor– India's airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK as three decorated women officers of the Indian Armed Forces shared the inside story behind the operation that rattled Pakistan's terror infrastructure. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh (Indian Air Force) and Commander Prerna Deosthalee (Indian Navy) appeared on Friday's episode of Amitabh Bachchan-hosted reality show. These officers had been the public face of the operation during official media briefings. What Happened In The Show? The Bollywood star welcomed the three women officers– Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force and Commander Prerna Deosthalee of the Indian Navy, on the show. While speaking about the ghastly Pahalgam attack, Colonel Quershi said that Pakistan has been doing such acts for many decades and it was necessary to respond to such terror attacks. She said that Operation Sindoor was not a retaliation, but it was a response that this is a new India. The whole world had to be told that there is a new India with a new thinking. 'Pakistan has been carrying out such acts repeatedly. A response was necessary, and that's why Operation Sindoor was planned," she said. Wing Commander Singh highlighted the speed and precision of the strikes, saying, 'From 1:05 am to 1:30 am, we completed the entire operation in just 25 minutes." She also highlighted her personal connection with Pahagam saying that she had spent a lot of time there. She said that Pakistan carried out this attack because it was upset with the tourism there as a record number of tourists visited the town last year. Commander Deosthalee emphasised the mission's planning accuracy, saying, 'Targets were destroyed and no civilians were harmed. That was a top priority for us." Wing Commander Vyomika Singh's mother also praised her daughter's courage and said that she is not just her daughter, but of all of the nation. Colonel Qureshi also revealed that her ancestors have fought for Rani Lakshmi Bai. 'I belong to a family where everyone was in the Army. My great-grandmother's ancestors were with Rani Lakshmi Bai," she was seen telling Bachchan. 'I have not heard lullabies. I have heard tales of bravery, and I have listened to talks that tell the meaning of courage," she added. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Abhishek Sharrma reflects on the true meaning of Independence Day: Back then we only saw the fun and excitement of the holiday
As the nation gears up to celebrate Independence Day, actor and Vasudha fame Abhishek Sharrma takes a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recalling how the day was marked during his school years. "I remember in school, Independence Day celebrations always felt special. We would take part in the march past, and I would proudly lead the march every single time. I also loved performing in dance routines set to patriotic songs, it was a day filled with energy, colour, and joy," he shares. For young Abhishek, the day was all about the excitement of marching in uniform, the rhythmic beats of the drum, and the camaraderie among classmates as they performed on stage. The vibrant atmosphere, the waving flags, and the patriotic tunes playing over loudspeakers made the occasion one to look forward to each year. However, with time, his perspective has evolved. "Back then, as children, we only saw the fun and excitement of the holiday. But as I've grown older, I've come to truly understand its significance. It's not just about celebration; it's about remembering the sacrifices that built our freedom, honoring the people who protect it, and reflecting on our responsibility to keep our nation united," Abhishek says. The actor believes that the meaning of Independence Day has taken on a deeper resonance in the present times. "Especially today, with so much happening around us, the meaning of Independence Day feels deeper than ever. It's a reminder that freedom comes with responsibility, and we all have a part to play in building a stronger, more compassionate India," he adds. Through his words, Abhishek Sharrma hopes to inspire people to look beyond the holiday's festivities and embrace the values of unity, respect, and gratitude that the day truly stands for.
