Ex-Celtic fringe man reveals Rodgers' blunt transfer message
The Australian then departed for Tottenham Hotspur a year later, as Rodgers returned to take the reins in Glasgow's east end.
He gave Siegrist an opportunity in pre-season, with the Swiss stopper starting against Athletic Club in a friendly.

"I did okay, I didn't do great, I didn't do bad, I did okay," said the keeper on The Bondi Podcast.
"Then I just wanted to have a chat with the manager and say, 'Hey, what are you thinking?'
"And he was like, 'Yeah, you're not really for me'. He just said, 'You've not been able to adapt to the system well enough for you to play'.
"And I said, 'Fair enough, I understand, I feel it'."
Siegrist stayed at Celtic for another season, despite Rodgers' clear message.
He eventually made two competitive appearances for the club before joining FC Rapid of Romania under Neil Lennon on a permanent basis last summer.
Now on loan at Genoa from Rapid, Siegrist played twice in the Serie A last season.

Roma make approach for Manchester United's Jadon Sancho
Roma have made an offer worth in the region of £20million for Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho, the PA news agency understands. The 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations since making his hotly anticipated £73m switch from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford in 2021. Sancho has made just 83 appearances and scored 12 goals since making the move to United, who are hoping to get him off the books this summer. There have been recent whispers of a move to Serie A and PA understands Roma have made a bid to sign the England international, whose contract runs until next summer with an option for a further year. Sancho last appeared for United in the Community Shield last season, when his penalty was saved in the shoot-out loss to his former club Manchester City. The winger had returned having ended the 2023-24 campaign on loan back at Dortmund after being frozen out for claiming on social media that he had been made a 'scapegoat'. Those comments in September 2023 were in response to then United manager Erik ten Hag saying he had not reached the 'level' required to be involved in their squad at Arsenal. Sancho returned for last year's pre-season at United but went on to join Chelsea on a season-long loan, only for the west London outfit to pay £5m to get out of their deal to make the move permanent for £25m. The Manchester City youth graduate does not have a number at United and is one of a quintet of players that have did not train with Ruben Amorim's side during pre-season as they seek a move elsewhere. Homegrown forward Marcus Rashford was among them and last month sealed a season-long switch to Barcelona with the option to make the move permanent. United want £50m for Chelsea target Alejandro Garnacho, while exits have also yet to be secured for Antony and Tyrell Malacia following loans at Real Betis and PSV respectively.

Northern Ireland star Conor Bradley to miss Liverpool's Premier League opener in injury blow
The 22-year-old is understood to be nursing a minor injury and Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill will be anxiously awaiting positive news ahead of the World Cup qualifiers in September. Bradley has not been involved in first-team training, ruling him out of the start of Liverpool's title defence. The former Dungannon United Youth ace missed his side's friendly against Athletic Club and the Community Shield loss to Crystal Palace. There was no update on his fitness from manager Arne Slot in his pre-match press conference. Liverpool equalled Manchester United's total of 20 titles in 2024/25, with Bradley making 30 top-flight outings across two campaigns. Once fit again, he will be hungry to further establish himself in Slot's team while on the hunt for more silverware.
