LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau calls for major change in the game
Bullish Bryson DeChambeau believes golf is ready for change and insists teams can have a huge impact on the global fanbase future.
The American star is the most-recognised member of LIV Golf with a huge following and billboards of his face were plastered across Dallas to promote last week's event.
DeChambeau's Crushers team, which also includes England's Paul Casey, India's Anirban Lahiri and US ace Charles Howell, won the team competition for the third-straight tournament when in Texas and the Ryder Cup star used the squad's winners press conference to press home his feelings on the way he sees progress for the sport.
Asked about building a worldwide brand for the Crushers and that future pathway, Open -bound DeChambeau said: 'Well, I'll speak on that. First starting off with 'Baan and India, we've always known India is a ripe market for golf.
"It's getting ready to blast off in a sense and grow like never before. I was there in India earlier this year and Paul was as well. We saw the crowds that came out there.
'Us playing globally, the Crushers as a team, as a franchise, we're able to showcase ourselves in our regions that we're from.
"Baan is a great example of that, how it allows us to showcase the game of golf in his corner of the world. We're with going to JCB [in England] where Paul is from in that region in a sense.
"Again, we've been in Florida, Dallas. The game of golf is ready for change. We continue to hope to see golf move in this team direction.
'Obviously the game will always be an individual sport. We'll always play for individual titles. But why not have a team aspect as well to it? Why can't we have more fun together? Why can't we build something special? Why can't we influence and inspire the next generation of golfers as a team?
'We want people to have that fandom like you have with the Lakers, like you have with the Yankees and stuff. It's going to take time. We all know that.
"And the people that are looking at us going: What is this, why is it even a thing. Well, the Yankees had to start somewhere, the Lakers had to start somewhere, and we're just at the inception. This is only three years in now .
"Look what this week did for LIV Golf. I think and hope that they see that and see the potential with this market. It's conversations we're going to have. But I'd love to be back here. It would be a lot of fun.
'My face was on a billboard this week trying to get people out here and they definitely showed up.
"I wanted to show my respect and appreciation for them coming to this tournament, especially in the heat.
"It was not easy to come out here and have fun and enjoy this massive heat wave, but they did it and they showed up. It was a lot of fun to have them out showcasing some great golf.'
DeChambeau also got himself involved with many off-course events at LIV Dallas and was on the stage on Saturday night whipping up fans at the post-round concert.
Asked about his voice, he said: 'A lot of recovery, a lot of ice. No, I'm kidding. No, it was fun getting up there on stage and thanking Dallas. I have to say thank you to Dallas for them showing up this week. I think it's one of our best events in the States. There was 12,000 people yesterday [Saturday].
'Dallas showed up and this is what I expected. This is what I thought. This is what I thought was possible. Our team showed up. I
"'ve just got to say I'm super thankful to Dallas and super thankful for the team for playing as well as they did.
"We've got more to go, though. We're not finished. We want to win that Team Championship at the end of the year as well.'

Jim Goodwin 's side are also in a good place because Ferry is still under contract for this season and next. The 24-year-old has also been named as United's vice captain and also skippered them through their Conference League campaign. Ferry's form has also not gone unnoticed by Ireland and he is very much on the radar for a full call-up. He has previously been capped at under-21 level but new national coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has had him scouted and he is very much in his thinking. Ferry has been something of a coup since Goodwin signed the wing back from Cheltenham last summer and he was a key figure in their fourth place finish.

Ryan Reynolds showed his true colours with WhatsApp message before meeting new signing
Wrexham new boy Conor Coady has revealed the warm, down-to-earth welcome he received from the club's Hollywood owners, praising their transformative impact on the Welsh side Wrexham's Hollywood owners have shown their kindheartedness after giving a warm welcome to one of their new signings. Former Wolves and Everton defender Conor Coady joined the Welsh side from Leicester for £2million at the start of August. The Red Dragons fought off interest from Scottish giants Rangers to secure the 32-year-old's services. Coady has already established himself as an important figure at the Racecourse Ground, starting in both of their opening Championship fixtures. The England centre-back has now opened up on the friendly greeting he received from club co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac before even meeting them. The two actors initially introduced themselves via phone messages before coming face to face with the new team member as they flew in from the US to watch Wrexham 's first home game of the season against West Brom last Saturday. Speaking during an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live, Coady said: "When I signed, he [Ryan] sent me a video and Rob messaged me. It was amazing just to get a message to say, 'Welcome to the club.' I got a WhatsApp from an American number which I thought was a bit strange. "I sat on the couch with my missus watching it and it was a video of Ryan. I was really starstruck and he was just welcoming me to the club and saying how good it is to have me, what we want to do as a club and how we want to go forward." Coady joked that he was taken aback by Reynolds' height when speaking to him in person. He added: "Meeting him for the first time, he's quite a big fella. I said he can play centre half with me, and he said he's never played football in his life. "He's a really lovely man. What he's done for Wrexham, and what Rob has done for Wrexham, I think it's incredible to see where they're at now." Reynolds and Mac, who recently applied to legally change his surname from McElhenney, have transformed Wrexham's fortunes since buying them in February 2021. The club has achieved promotion in each of the last three seasons, most recently in April taking them from the National League into the Championship under manager Phil Parkinson. While the owners insist on leaving football matters to the playing staff, they have received a large amount of praise for their approach to running the club. And Coady believes the A-listers' humility is key to Wrexham's success. "I think what goes under the radar a bit is the trust they've put in people," he said. "They give so much trust to the people at the top end of our club, which I think has been absolutely fantastic over the years. That's a big reason why the club is where they're at today, because they give so much trust in the gaffer. "I saw them do an interview the other day, and they said, 'We don't get involved with the football.' I thought the interview was outstanding. They said, 'We tell a story about the club,' and I love that, because they're getting the story of Wrexham out there. "It's an amazing story so why not tell that story? And what better people to tell the story of Wrexham than Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds?" Wrexham have so far failed to register any points in their first Championship campaign in 43 years. They started the season with a 2-1 defeat away at Southampton, followed by last weekend's 3-2 loss at home to West Brom. Ryder Cup captain told not to make "worst decision ever" despite rankings pressure
Keegan Bradley will captain Team USA at next month's Ryder Cup and has been tipped to play and skipper - a move he's been told to avoid at all costs by a legendary figure in the game Former European Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance has told Keegan Bradley that being a player captain at next month's tournament would be the "worst decision ever" in the history of the competition. Bradley has long been down as the man to lead the United States as they bid to regain the trophy. Their effort will take place at Bethpage in New York, but the tournament has coincided with a huge career resurgence for the home captain. Bradley claimed his only major when he won the US PGA Championship in 2011 but his form over recent months has seen him rise into the top 10. It has him ranked higher than several of the players who would qualify, which has seen many insist he has to play. The 39-year-old has claimed recently that he "will do what is best for the US Ryder Cup team" and is still none the wiser as to whether he'll take the rogue move of playing and captaining. America are bidding to avoid a repeat of the Miracle of Medinah - which remains the only home Ryder Cup loss in two decades - and Torrance insists Bradley would be making a huge blunder by playing. I don't believe you can do it. There are things the captain has to do. He has to put the pairings in Friday and Saturday and he's the only player in the American team that can talk to his team. "You can't have someone else going onto the 16th saying 'he hit a five-iron, he hit a six-iron' - it's only the captain that can do that. He also can't glean enough information about his other teams that he's had out that morning to get out in the afternoon. "It's a very difficult scenario. I mean, he should play, but the proper thing to do is play and give the right of captaincy to Furyk or someone else." Bradley has selected his vice-captains and picked an array of talent, which include the 2018 skipper Jim Furyk. Alongside him he also has Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Kevin Kisner and Gary Woodland. The US currently have five of the top six ranked golfers in the world with Rory McIlroy the only man flying the flag for the Europeans. Four of those have already qualified for the Ryder Cup team with the likes of Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun and Russell Henley looking to exact revenge for the Americans.
