Shiny Doshi Breaks Down Recalling Father's Abuse: ‘He Called Me A Prostitute At 16'

News1811-05-2025

TV actress Shiny Doshi opened up in an emotional interview about her traumatic childhood and estranged relationship with her late father.
Television actress Shiny Doshi, known for her roles in popular shows like Pandya Store, recently opened up about a dark chapter from her past that continues to shape her even today. In a heart-wrenching interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shiny revisited the deeply painful relationship she shared with her late father—a man she says abandoned her family when she was just a child.
Shiny, who made her acting debut in 2013 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saraswatichandra, revealed that her father left her mother and brother when she was very young, forcing her to start working early to support the family. But it wasn't just the financial burden that weighed on her—it was the emotional trauma that cut deeper.
Fighting back tears, she recalled a moment that scarred her as a teenager: 'My father used to call me a prostitute. My print shoots in Ahmedabad sometimes went on till 2 or 3 in the morning. My mother was always with me—I was just 16. But when we returned home, instead of asking if we were safe, he would throw accusations. He'd say, 'You're taking your daughter out at 3 a.m.? Are you pimping her out?'"
'He had a terrible tongue," she said, her voice cracking.
When asked if she has been able to forgive him, Shiny admitted, 'These are knots in life that can't be untied. I've taken them as life lessons, but even now, I sometimes feel very weak. I never had a father figure to back me up, to say, 'I'm here for you.'"
Shiny's father passed away in 2019 while on the Amarnath Yatra. By then, they hadn't spoken in two years—something that continues to haunt her. 'There's a guilt that lingers," she said softly.
Despite the pain, Shiny continues to forge ahead. Having earned praise for her recent performance in Pandya Store—an official adaptation of the Tamil series Pandian Stores—she stands as a symbol of resilience, refusing to let her past define her future.

(Picture Courtesy:Facebook) Dhyan Sreenivasan is finally celebrating a box office success this year with the murder mystery 'Detective Ujjwalan'. As per the Sacnilk reports, the film has collected Rs 5.56 crore worldwide in ten days, with Rs 4.96 crore from India net collections. Dhyan Sreenivasan scores his first hit of 2025 While the movie opened modestly, it has shown a steady run across weekdays and weekends, steadily building its audience and word-of-mouth. The film's growing collections signal that audiences are enjoying this crime comedy blend, marking a positive turning point for Dhyan's 2025 releases. A lighthearted detective faces a darker challenge 'Detective Ujjwalan' revolves around Ujjwalan, a quirky librarian who moonlights as the village detective, helping solve small-time problems like lost gold or missing goats. Plachikavu village is so peaceful that even the police lean on Ujjwalan's skills to handle petty crime. But the tone shifts when a series of brutal murders shock the quiet village, leaving everyone to wonder whether their local amateur sleuth can rise to the challenge of catching a dangerous criminal. Some red herrings that will confuse the audience so that we are emotionally and intellectually caught up in the story, a detective who uses logic that will baffle us with its brilliance and a final revelation of the culprit that will shock us. Detective Ujjwalan does not use any of these devices in a forceful enough manner. The period settings are interesting and the village characters are loveable enough, though some of the superb comic talents from social media, Ameen, Nihal Nizam, Nibraz and Shahubas, are barely utilised. The film seems to go in the direction of most Dhyan films; a bit of an anti-climax.' What's next? With Rs 57 lakhs collected on its tenth day, 'Detective Ujjwalan' continues to draw crowds despite facing competition from new releases. Given the current momentum, the movie is likely to continue adding to its box office tally in the coming weeks.
