Big Isle ranch to host Fourth of July rodeo

HAWAII, Hawaii (KHON2) — Parker Ranch will be organizing their 61st Annual July 4 Rodeo and Race Horses, which takes place at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Waimea. The tradition displays the time-honored skills of paniolos through crowd-pleasing competitions like horse races, ranch mugging, roping and more. How do illegal animals make their way to Hawaiʻi — and what happens when they're found? 'It's a day of camaraderie, culture and good old-fashioned paniolo pride,' the ranch said. Two jumbo screens will be set up at the arena for the first time, allowing fans to feel closer to the action with live coverage, interviews and more. The screens were made possible through support from the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement. Doors open at 7:30 a.m., where guests can enjoy local food and craft vendors, with petting zoos and pony rides for the rodeo events begin at 9 a.m. and run through 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 at Kamuela Hardwoods, Paniolo Preservation Society and Waimea Butcher Shop. Online tickets are $12 plus fees and taxes, with at-the-door tickets costing $15. The event will happen rain or shine, and the ranch requests that pets and alcohol be left at home. The Pan-Pacific Festival Foundation and the Matsuri in Hawai'i Committee have announced the 42nd annual Pan-Pacific Festival, set for June 13–15, 2025. The event is supported by the Hawai'i Tourism Authority through its Signature Events held in 1980 as 'Matsuri in Hawaii,' the festival began as a way to celebrate and share traditional Japanese culture. Over the years, its scope has broadened to include cultures throughout Hawai'i's diverse community. With greater access to resources, organizers aim to expand opportunities for global connection through education and experience. The festival features a diverse mix of cultural arts, crafts, and live performances across multiple events. Hawai'i's international tourism appeal and multiethnic population make it an ideal location to promote intercultural friendship, goodwill, and understanding.
