‘Once in a lifetime opporunity:' ʻAuana by Cirque Du Soleil hosts open casting call

WAIKIKI, Hawaii (KHON2) — If you are a hula dancer looking for your next gig, ʻAuana by Cirque Du Soleil may have the opportunity for you. ʻAuana was unveiled at the Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel in December 2024 as the first resident show created for Hawaii. Cirque du Soleil unveils ''Auana', first resident show created for Hawaii After completing over 100 shows, the Cirque Du Soleil team is looking to expand their talent by hosting an open casting call on Monday, March 17. Officials said they are searching for those proficient in hula kahiko and hula auana styles. One hula dancer, Keoni Brache, shared his journey to the ʻAuana stage with KHON2's Chris Latronic. Brache spent five years working behind the desk in hospital administration before taking the opportunity to make a name for himself on the big stage.'When this opportunity presented itself, you know, why not take it? Life is short so just do what you love to do and why not get paid for it?' Brache said. Auditions will be guided by ʻAuana choreographer and renowned hula practitioner kumu hula Hiwa Vaughan and kumu of halau hula Ka Lehua Tuahine. Each candidate will get the opportunity to showcase their ability to perform show choreography, improvisation and artistic exploration. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and local to Oahu with valid U.S. citizenship or a green card. They must also be available for on-call contracts with nightly availability between Wednesday through Sunday of each week. Cirque du Soleil to hold auditions for hula dancers

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is looking for talented hula dancers to join the cast of its groundbreaking production, ' open casting call will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Beachcomber Hotel. Since its debut in December 2024, 'Auana has captivated audiences with its unique blend of hula, live music, and stunning acrobatics. Cirque du Soleil is now searching for skilled hula dancers experienced in both hula kahiko and hula 'auana styles. 4 tax credits Hawaiʻi families need to know about: It's tax season Applicants must be 18 or older and hold valid U.S. citizenship or a Green Card. The ideal candidates will also need to be available for on-call contracts and evening performances, Wednesday through Sunday. City Council to meet, discuss key items Interested dancers can register online by March 13 for the audition which will be led by 'Auana choreographer Kumu Hula Hiwa Vaughan and the Cirque du Soleil casting team. Participants will learn choreography from the show during the audition but improvisation is encouraged to allow for artistic exploration. Dancers do not need to prepare their own choreography and should come with minimal makeup to showcase their natural expressions. One photo showed her newborn swaddled in a blanket on her lap with her eyes closed. The other picture featured the newly minted mom with a huge smile on her face, as her daughter lay on her chest.
