UAE Claims First Place at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Grappling World Tour

The UAE has taken first place at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Grappling World Tour, hosted at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) Federation, the international tournament attracted elite grapplers from more than 50 countries for a weekend of intense competition.
Leading the Emirati team was Khaled Al Shehhi, who earned gold in the professional division with a performance marked by technical precision and strategic execution. In the heavyweight category, Pouya Rahmani added to the UAE's medal tally with a dominant run to gold.
The UAE finished the tournament with a total of 31,000 points, edging out Brazil, which placed second with 30,600 points. Russia followed in third with 19,000 points.

The announcement of the council's formation coincides with International Youth Day, affirming its commitment to the directives of the wise leadership and in line with its forward-looking vision to empower Emirati youth and support them to become future leaders in various fields. His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, announced that the establishment of the Youth Council within the Ministry of Sports represents a strategic step towards strengthening youth participation in shaping the future of national sports, reflecting the Ministry's confidence in the vital role young people play in achieving excellence and sustainability in this sector. His Excellency stated: 'The announcement of the Council coincides with the celebration of International Youth Day. This makes Abdulsalam the first-ever Emirati woman to take part in global Formula 4 marine racing. Aug 10, 2025 Emirati racer Alia Abdulsalam has been announced to compete in the Formula 4 Powerboat World Championship in Italy on September 16th. The championship would be the second of Abdulsalam's global appearances, following an appearance in the Norway Grand Prix on August 15th. Abdulsalam will become the first Emirati woman to take part in global Formula 4 marine racing.
