Jane Fonda hated her Oscar dress
The actress wore a lilac, sequinned gown with long sleeves to pick up the Best Actress Oscar for her role in war drama Coming Home, but she's now admitted the the frock was "awful" and she only wore it as a favour for her then-husband, politician Tom Hayden because he was friends with the designer.
She told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I won my second Academy Award wearing the most awful dress. I was married to a politician and one of his big supporters was a fashion designer [called James Reva].
"My husband said: 'Let him design you a dress.' I did and it was awful and I won the Oscar in it. Anything for politics! It was just poor taste."
During the interview Jane, 87, also talked about her personal style these days, revealing she finds she can wear a lot more colour since she let her hair go grey.
She explained: "[My style is] simple! Since my hair has gone grey, I wear more colour, including yellow and green. Even I can look good in those colours, and not a lot of people can say that."
Jane also revealed the best fashion advice she was ever given came from screen icon Katharine Hepburn, who scolded her for failing to look after her appearance.
She told the publication: "When we were filming On Golden Pond, Katharine Hepburn came up and grabbed my cheeks and said:''What does this mean to you? This is your body!'
"She was angry with me because she thought I didn't pay enough attention to how I presented myself. And she was right: I really didn't care. Now I pay more attention."
Jane debuted her grey hair when she donned a silver pixie haircut at the Academy Awards back in 2020 and she went on to admit she felt happy to finally embrace her natural look.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she said: "I tell you, I'm so happy I let it go grey. Enough already with so much time wasted, so much money spent, so many chemicals - I'm through with that."

Dolly Parton named Guinness World Records icon
US country star Dolly Parton has been named a Guinness World Records icon for holding 11 record-breaking titles. As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, the company - which lists world record achievements - has honoured the Jolene singer, 79, with an Icon certificate, presented to her at her studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Her record titles include most consecutive decades with top 10 album entries on the Billboard country chart, most studio albums released by a female country singer, and most Grammy nominations for a female country artist. She was also the first country singer to be nominated for the EGOT - an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony - aka the "Grand Slam of showbusiness". Craig Glenday, editor in chief at Guinness World Records, said: "Dolly is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated writers and performers in the history of country music, as reflected in her many Guinness World Records certificates, but her reach and influence extends far beyond the musical world. "There are so many projects close to her heart - poverty relief, education, medical research and of course the Imagination Library free-books campaign - and it's these important, life-changing initiatives that propels Dolly into a different league. She truly is a living legend, and it's an honour to bestow GWR Icon status upon her." Guinness World Records published its first book in London in 1955 and has sold more than 143 million copies in over 100 countries since then. The Icon certificate has previously been awarded to stars including Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Drake, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sir Elton John. Parton, who is from Tennessee, released her debut album, Hello, I'm Dolly in 1967 and had a run of hits in the 1970s. By the 1980s she was a huge star and made her movie debut in screwball comedy 9 To 5. Her most recent album was Rockstar, released in 2023, and she recently featured in a version of Sabrina Carpenter's Please Please Please. She is also the co-owner of the Dollywood Company, which operates Dollywood, a theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Cara Delevingne tested new Topshop collection at Glastonbury
Cara Delevingne tested Topshop's new collection by wearing the clothes at Glastonbury Festival this summer. The model is an ambassador for the revived brand - which relaunches at the end of August - as well as being the face of the new autumn/winter campaign and Cara has revealed she took the new Topshop pieces to the iconic music festival in June to see how they worked and she was thrilled to tell fellow festival-goers she was wearing items from the former high street giant. She told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I wore the pinstripe trousers with the faux-fur jacket and was so excited to tell people that they were part of the 'new' Topshop collection. "You can dress these pieces up or down and wear them for everything from a meeting to going out to lunch to hanging out at home." Cara went on to insist the new Topshop collection features pieces she would feel proud to have in her wardrobe, saying: "It's all the things that I want in my wardrobe. "Going from my twenties into my thirties, I wanted to kind of start dressing with a bit more thought. This collection lets me do that. "You wear it with more Topshop or with vintage or other brands. Each piece stands out so much - there really is something for everyone." She added: "Each piece is purposeful. What matters now is quality over quantity." In a separate interview with ELLE magazine, Cara revealed she was keen to be a part of the brand's relaunch after previously walking the runway in Topshop's fashion shows and starring in a campaign for the company back in 2014. She said: "To be asked to be part of the relaunch, it meant so much to me - and my teenage self, who remembers going into Topshop and really feeling like you could find anything you wanted." Cara added of the first collection: "It feels very eclectic, but also modern." The 30-piece collection debuts on the relaunched Topshop website on August 16. Topshop Managing Director Michelle Wilson said in a statement: "Cara is the perfect embodiment of the Topshop spirit - bold, creative, and unapologetically herself. This partnership is more than a campaign; it's a statement of intent as we reintroduce Topshop to the world."
