A man in his 20s was fatally stabbed outside a five-star hotel in one of London's most affluent neighborhoods, sparking shock and heightened security concerns in the area.
A 24-year-old father was brutally stabbed to death outside a luxury hotel in Knightsbridge, London, in a suspected robbery targeting his Rolex watch, British police confirmed Thursday.
The attack occurred in full view of the victim's partner and has shocked residents of one of the capital's most exclusive districts.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, on Seville Street in Knightsbridge, just outside the Park Tower Hotel — a prominent luxury establishment. The hotel sits near the famed Harrods department store and Hyde Park, in a district known for its exclusivity and international clientele.
According to the Metropolitan Police, emergency responders — including London Ambulance Service and an air ambulance crew — arrived quickly at the scene but were unable to save the victim, who was found with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
'A man, believed to be in his 30s, was discovered with multiple stab injuries. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene,' said a police spokesperson in an official statement. 'His next of kin have yet to be formally notified.'
The area surrounding the crime scene has been cordoned off, with forensic teams continuing their investigation. A crime scene tent was erected, and a heightened police presence remains in place as officers search for leads.
So far, no arrests have been made, and the motive for the attack remains unclear. Police say the investigation is in its early stages and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has relevant information to come forward.
The violent attack in such a high-profile area has stunned both residents and tourists. Knightsbridge is widely regarded as one of the safest and most prestigious areas in London, home to diplomats, celebrities, and global elites.
The incident is the latest in a series of violent crimes that have raised concerns about public safety in central London, despite a significant police presence in key tourist and commercial zones.

US Doubles Reward for Capture of Venezuela's President

Israa Farhan The United States has doubled its reward for information leading to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, raising it to $50 million as part of its continued efforts to bring him to justice over international drug trafficking and corruption charges. Announced jointly on Thursday by the US Department of Justice and the State Department, the new reward comes amid heightened accusations that Maduro played a key role in a long-running drug cartel operation that allegedly trafficked hundreds of tons of narcotics into the United States over the past two decades. US Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the increase via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the federal government is intensifying its pursuit of Maduro, who federal prosecutors in New York want. The reward was previously raised in January from $15 million to $25 million before being doubled again this week. Maduro is accused of operating a vast transnational drug trafficking network in collaboration with various criminal groups. The US government alleges that the cartel worked closely with Colombia's Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC), which is designated a terrorist organization by Washington. Authorities also believe Maduro had ties with Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and Mexico's Sinaloa cartel. The charges date back to 2020, during the final year of Donald Trump's presidency, when US prosecutors first filed a sweeping indictment against Maduro. The Justice Department claims that the cartel under his control generated hundreds of millions of dollars in illicit revenue from drug shipments directed toward the US market. The latest escalation comes just days after criticism from the Biden administration over Maduro's re-election and swearing-in earlier this year, which the White House labelled as illegitimate and fraudulent. In response, Washington imposed additional sanctions on Caracas and raised the bounty on Maduro's head. Venezuela's government has denounced the US move as absurd and politically motivated. Foreign Minister Yván Gil called the reward announcement pathetic and ridiculous, stating that it reflects Washington's desperation rather than a genuine legal pursuit. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Palestinian Ex-footballer Killed By Israeli Forces In Gaza - World

Former Palestine national team player Suleiman al-Obeid, known as the "Palestinian Pele", has been killed by Israeli gunfire in the Gaza Strip, the sport's local governing body said. Obeid, 41, was killed Wednesday when Israeli forces "targeted people waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip", the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) said in a statement. With Gaza in the throes of a hunger crisis, the UN rights office said last month that Israeli forces had killed more than 1,300 Palestinians trying to get food aid in the territory since late May. An ex-star of the Khadamat Al-Shati club in Gaza, Obeid played 24 international matches for team Palestine, the PFA said. "During his long career, Al-Obeid scored more than 100 goals, making him one of the brightest stars of Palestinian football," it added. The midfielder also played for the Al-Amari Youth Center Club in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967. While living there in 2010, Obeid was among six players on the national team from Gaza who were turned back at the Jordanian border for "security reasons" on their way to a friendly in Mauritania. An Israeli security official said at the time that the players had failed to renew special permits allowing them to play in the West Bank. "When I heard that we would be forbidden from travelling I was very upset, because any athlete dreams of wearing his national jersey in international forums," Obeid told AFP in 2010. "We want to be able to travel freely with our families, just like athletes anywhere else in the world." Israel had previously allowed the six players to travel with the team. Born in Gaza City, Obeid was married and had five children. Since the start of the Gaza war, triggered by Palestinian militant group Hamas's October 2023 attack on Israel, 662 people from the sport and scouting sector have been killed, including 321 in the football community, according to the PFA. Israel's offensive has killed at least 61,258 in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. The 2023 attack on Israel resulted in the deaths of 1,219 people, according to an AFP tally based on official figures. Palestinians bury activist shot dead by Israeli West Bank settler - War on Gaza

Mourners attended on Thursday the funeral of Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen in the occupied West Bank whose body was handed over by Israel more than a week after a settler killed him. "He was killed by a hateful settler, his body was held for 11 days, and more than 20 people from the village were arrested" following the late July incident in the southern West Bank, said the slain activist's brother, Aziz Hathaleen. The settler accused of the fatal shooting "was released at that very moment", Aziz told AFP in the family's hometown of Umm al-Khair, where Palestinians gathered to bury his brother's body despite Israeli restrictions. Awdah Hathaleen, 31, was linked to Oscar-winning documentary film "No Other Land", which focuses on the efforts of Palestinians in Masafer Yatta -- a string of hamlets including Umm al-Khair -- to prevent Israeli forces from destroying their homes. He was killed on July 28, with residents identifying the man holding the gun in a video of the incident as Yinon Levy, a settler sanctioned by Britain, who was briefly detained but released the next day. Umm al-Khair resident Ibrahim Hathaleen told AFP that "we were prevented from receiving the martyr's body" for days after his death, and Aziz said Israel had given the family several conditions to allow the funeral. The activist's brother argued that the Israeli moves were meant to prevent a large gathering that would draw attention to his work opposing Israeli settlement in Masafer Yatta. "The first condition was that he not be buried in the area at all, and the second was that no mourning tent be set up", said Ibrahim, who is also related to Awdah Hathaleen. An AFP journalist in Umm al-Khair said the Israeli army had set up checkpoints around the village and prevented some Palestinians and foreign activists from reaching the funeral site. About 100 mourners still managed to attend the funeral, many of them in tears, kissing Awdah's body before joining prayers at a local mosque, the AFP journalist reported. Masafer Yatta, where he lived, is an area on the hills south of the Palestinian city of Hebron which has been declared a military zone by Israel. The fight of the area's Palestinian residents against Israeli settlement expansion and violence from troops and settlers was the subject of "No Other Land", which won Best Documentary at the Oscars in March. Shortly after Hathaleen's killing, the film's co-director Yuval Abraham posted a video of the incident on Instagram showing a man -- identified as Levy -- brandishing a gun and arguing with a group of people. Violence in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967, has surged throughout the Gaza war that began in October 2023. At least 968 Palestinians, including militants but also civilians, have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers since the Gaza war broke out. At least 36 Israelis, including civilians and soldiers, have been killed there in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations over the same period, according to official Israeli data.
