Around 1:21 p.m. local time Sunday: Firefighters responded to reports of a brush fire near Canfield Mountain in Coeur d'Alene.
Moments later: Gunfire erupted. A suspect opened fire on the firefighters, leaving several injured.
Suspected ambush: Authorities believe the fire was intentionally set to lure emergency responders into an ambush. According to AZ Intel, a firefighter on the scene said, 'It's clear to me that this fire was set intentionally to draw us in.'
Active shooter alert issued: An emergency alert was sent to local residents warning of an active shooter in the Canfield Mountain area.
'Active shooter at Canfield Mountain. Injuries are reported, but the extent is unknown. Avoid the area," the alert stated.
Shelter-in-place ordered: Kootenai County Emergency Management posted on Facebook: 'If you are in the are of Canfield Mountain Trailhead / Nettleton Gulch Rd. area in CDA, SHELTER IN PLACE. If you are not, AVOID THE AREA due to Law Enforcement activity.'
Shelter area expanded: A later update expanded the order to include everything south of Hayden Lake Road and east of 15th Street in Coeur d'Alene.
Fire still burning: As of 3:30 p.m. local time, at least two large sections of the Canfield Mountain fire continued to burn.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday, ordered Indian pacer Mohammed Shami to pay ₹ 4 lakh every month to his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, and daughter. The Indian cricketer has been directed to pay ₹ 1.5 lakh to his wife and ₹ 2.5 lakh to his daughter monthly. The Calcutta High Court's order comes after Jahan had approached the HC against a district sessions court's order directing Shami to pay ₹ 50,000 to her wife and ₹ 80,000 to her daughter in 2023. Hasin Jahan worked as a model and also served as a cheerleader for the Kolkata Knight Riders before marrying cricketer Mohammed Shami in 2014. The couple gave birth to their daughter in 2015. In 2018, Hasin had accused Shami of domestic abuse and adultery. She had also alleged that Shami did not give her the rights of a wife. "Till today, you (Shami) neither gave me the status nor rights of a wife. Except for money to run the house, I have no rights on anything. What he does, what his income is, he hides everything from me," Hasin had told ABP. According to a report by India Today, Mohammed Shami's estranged wife — in a Facebook post dated March 6 — had also shared screenshots of Shami's alleged chats with other women. Shami, however, had denied the accusations on social media and claimed that all of it was a part of conspiracy to defame him. Last year October, Mohammed Shami shared an emotional reunion with his daughter Aaira, which was their first meeting in a long time. The father-daughter duo were seen shopping together, and Shami even made a heartfelt post on Instagram, which garnered nearly two lakh likes. However, Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan made serious allegations regarding the meeting. While speaking to Jahan alleged that her daughter's passport had expired, and instead of signing it, Shami took her shopping.

Firefighters with 70 years of combined experience killed by suspect who ‘wanted be a fireman'. What we know
Two firefighters were killed and a third seriously injured on Sunday, 29 June, after being shot while responding to a wildfire on Canfield Mountain near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Authorities believe the fire was deliberately started to lure emergency crews into an ambush. The gunman was later found dead with a weapon nearby. Police suspect he died by suicide. 'This wasn't an event that we had trained for,' Coeur d'Alene Fire Chief Tom Greif said at a news briefing, as reported by CNN. The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Wess Roley. Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris told CBS News that a tactical team used mobile phone signals to locate Roley in a wooded area near the fire. A rifle was found next to his body. Sheriff Norris said, 'We do believe that the suspect started the fire, and we do believe that it was an ambush and it was intentional. These firefighters did not have a chance.' Roley is believed to have moved from Arizona to Idaho in 2023 to work for his father's tree-cutting business. His grandfather told CBS News that Roley had applied to work for the forestry service and 'wanted to be a fireman'. Frank Harwood, 42, was a Battalion Chief with Kootenai County Fire and Rescue. He had served for 17 years and was a former Army National Guard combat engineer. He was married with two children. John Morrison, 52, was the Battalion Chief with Coeur d'Alene Fire Department. He had been with the department for over 28 years and had moved up from firefighter to battalion chief. Engineer Dave Tysdal, 47, of Coeur d'Alene Fire Department, was seriously injured. He has served for 23 years. Fire officials said he underwent two surgeries and is now in critical but stable condition. Together, the three firefighters had nearly 70 years of combined experience. ACB registers 126 cases in 6 months, unearths assets worth over ₹27 crore
A total of 125 public servants, including eight outsourced employees and private individuals were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana in the first six months of 2025. A total of ₹27.91 crore was seized, which includes ₹24.57 lakh was recovered during trap operations and ₹27.66 crore unearthed in disproportionate assets cases. The Bureau registered 126 cases, including 80 trap cases, eight disproportionate assets cases, 14 criminal misconduct cases, 10 regular enquiries, 11 surprise checks and three discreet enquiries between January and June 2025. In June, the ACB registered a total of 31 cases and inquiries. These included 15 trap cases, two disproportionate assets cases, three criminal misconduct cases, four regular enquiries and seven surprise checks. During these operations, 25 public servants, including two outsourcing employees and private individuals, were trapped, arrested and remanded to judicial custody. In trap cases across various departments, an amount of ₹3.43 lakh was seized in June. Additionally, surprise checks carried out at RTA check posts and Sub-Registrar offices resulted in the seizure of unaccounted cash amounting to ₹2.72 lakh. In terms of finalisation, the Bureau completed an investigation into 11 cases in June and forwarded the final reports to the Telangana Government. Over the six-month period, a total of 129 cases were finalised and sent for further action. The Bureau advised the public to report any demand for bribes by government officials.
