There has been an update in the legal/media/court of public opinion/war of attrition between two Cranbrook old boys, Ben Scott and James Kennedy.
The lads were behind the high-end property reality show Luxe Listings before their relationship imploded in claim and counterclaim.
We previously summarised the two gentlemen's beef thus: Scott claimed Kennedy had breached his duties as a co-director of their production company Kentel Australasia by selling Luxe Listings to Amazon for a song, and that he had secretly used the TV program as product placement for the Rolex and Patek Philippe watches his business sells. Kennedy denies the claims, of course.
Now it is lawyers and PR agencies at 10 paces after a dramatic press release from Scott's camp pinged into inboxes with the headline 'NSW Court Blocks James Kennedy's Attempt to Shut Down Luxe Listings Lawsuit'.
Weeeell, not quite.
Scott himself supplied quotes in the release issued on behalf of his lawyer, Sharangan Maheswaran, of XD LAW.
'This entire exercise has likely cost James Kennedy hundreds of thousands of dollars and has only stalled the inevitable,' said Scott, who has also been in the news in unconnected stories related to his friendship with Fadi Ibrahim, of the Sydney celebrity family.
'This all appears to be a desperate attempt by Kennedy to shield his communications with Rolex from scrutiny,' Scott said.

'I think I've done enough': Sir Ridley Scott is finished with Alien
Sir Ridley Scott is finished with the 'Alien' franchise. After directing the eponymous 1979 sci-fi/horror flick, the 87-year-old filmmaker walked away from the 'Alien' series until returning for the 2012 prequel 'Prometheus' and its follow-up 'Alien: Covenant' in 2017, though Scott now thinks he's "done enough" with the 'Alien' franchise. Speaking with Screen Rant, he said: " A number of years after ['Alien'], I said, 'I'm going to resurrect this',[and wrote] 'Prometheus' from scratch–a blank sheet of paper. Damon Lindelof and I sat then hammered out 'Prometheus'. "It was very present and very welcome. The audience really wanted more. I said, 'It needs to fly.' No one was coming for it, [and] I went once again [and made] 'Alien Covenant', and it worked too. "Where it's going now, I think I've done enough, and I just hope it goes further." After Scott's exit from the 'Alien' franchise following the original movie, the series was passed to a handful of different directors, with James Cameron helming the 1986 sequel 'Aliens', David Fincher working on 'Alien 3' in 1992, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet directing 'Alien: Resurrection' in 1997. Following 'Alien: Resurrection', the series crossed over with the 'Predator' franchise for the flicks 'Alien vs Predator' in 2004, and 'AVPR: Aliens vs Predator – Requiem' in 2007. However, Scott admitted he wasn't a fan of what came after Cameron's 'Aliens'. He explained: "It is spreading like wildfire, and not really. I think I felt it was deadened after 4. I think mine was pretty damn good, and I think Jim's was good, and I have to say the rest were not very good. "And I thought, 'F***, that's the end of a franchise which should be as important as bloody 'Star Trek' or 'Star Wars', which I think is phenomenal. "At least, I think the first one by George [Lucas] is seminal – it was as seminal as '2001' ['A Space Odyssey']. To me, it was that important in terms of film language and where you go next." Reflecting on 'Alien', Scott revealed he was the fifth director who was asked to helm the movie, with the studio first offering the job to 'M*A*S*H's Robert Altman. He said: "I'm fascinated [by] very good comics and the best in the world was probably Jean Giraud Moebius. Moebius was a French comics man who was just genius. "I was staring at these, and suddenly I was offered 'Alien' out of the blue. And because designer is in my blood and DNA, I just knew what to do with it. "And I was the fifth f****** choice. Why you offered Robert Altman 'Alien', God only knows. Altman said, 'Are you kidding? I'm not going to do this', and I went, 'Are you kidding? I have to do this', because it borders and verges on heavy metal."

Andrew Scott joins A Place in Hell opposite Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar Jones
Andrew Scott has joined the cast of legal thriller 'A Place in Hell'. The 48-year-old star is set to star opposite Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar Jones in the Chloe Domont movie, according to Deadline. Domont is to direct the motion picture, and she has penned the screenplay for the film. It will tell the story of two women who work at a high-profile criminal law firm. Scott is best known for starring in 2023 romantic drama movie 'All of Us Strangers', alongside Jones' 'Normal People' co-star Paul Mescal. Like Mescal, Scott also appeared in a hit BBC TV series, 'Fleabag', and he has led the cast of Netflix thriller series 'Ripley'. Scott recently told how he credits acting for helping him overcome a speech impediment. He explained to The Times magazine: "I had a speech impediment as a child and acting helped me be less self-conscious and shy. "I had a strong lisp and in elocution lessons I practised improvisation and verbalising phrases like, 'She sells seashells on the seashore.' "I still find acting helpful." Away from appearing in front of the camera, the actor, who is due to star in 'Wake Up Dead Man', the next Knives Out mystery, takes pleasure in painting. He said: "I love painting people, and my mother [who was an art teacher] was very influential. She made sure that I drew from observation. "She always said, 'Draw something that you see, not something that is in your mind', and that's always stuck with me. "I don't have a life you'd describe as unusual. I live in the city, and I go home to Ireland and see my loved ones. "I go to the gym and, honestly, I just love going to the movies. And galleries. All of that artsy stuff gets my heart beating. AFL star's father caught up in alleged incident at local game
The father of Melbourne star forward Bayley Fritsch has been involved in an alleged fight at a local football game on Saturday. Police have confirmed the incident in which Fritsch's father, Scott, required medical attention. Scott was watching his other son, Darcy Fritsch, play in the Division 3 game for Coldstream as they took on Upper Ferntree Gully in the Eastern Football League. Police said they expected a man to be charged. 'Police arrested a man following an assault at a local football match in Upper Ferntree Gully on Saturday, 31 May,' police said in a statement. 'A 44-year-old Seville man was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons for intentionally cause injury and unlawful assault.' Darcy, who scored one of Coldstream's five goals, reportedly jumped the fence — from the playing field — when he saw his father was involved. The incident happened near the end of the game. Scott Fritsch is a 360-game legend for Coldstream. 7NEWS believes Scott took himself to hospital for further treatment after the incident. Paramedics have confirmed that they did not take anyone to hospital. 'Ambulance Victoria responded to calls to an incident in Upper Ferntree Gully at around 5:00pm on 31 May,' a statement read. 'No emergency transport was provided.' The EFNL also released a statement on Tuesday afternoon. 'The Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) is aware of an off-field incident that occurred during the senior match between Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club and the Coldstream Football Club on Saturday, 31st May.' the league said. 'The League was informed at the time and has since commenced a thorough investigation into the matter. 'We are working closely with both clubs, who have provided full cooperation throughout the process. In addition, Victoria Police are conducting their own investigation, and the EFNL is assisting where appropriate. 'As both investigations are ongoing, we are unable to provide further comment at this stage. The EFNL remains committed to the safety and integrity of our competitions and will provide an update when more information is available.'
