The dramatic press release, broken friendship and Luxe Listings drama

There has been an update in the legal/media/court of public opinion/war of attrition between two Cranbrook old boys, Ben Scott and James Kennedy. The lads were behind the high-end property reality show Luxe Listings before their relationship imploded in claim and counterclaim. We previously summarised the two gentlemen's beef thus: Scott claimed Kennedy had breached his duties as a co-director of their production company Kentel Australasia by selling Luxe Listings to Amazon for a song, and that he had secretly used the TV program as product placement for the Rolex and Patek Philippe watches his business sells. Kennedy denies the claims, of course. Now it is lawyers and PR agencies at 10 paces after a dramatic press release from Scott's camp pinged into inboxes with the headline 'NSW Court Blocks James Kennedy's Attempt to Shut Down Luxe Listings Lawsuit'. Weeeell, not quite. Scott himself supplied quotes in the release issued on behalf of his lawyer, Sharangan Maheswaran, of XD LAW. 'This entire exercise has likely cost James Kennedy hundreds of thousands of dollars and has only stalled the inevitable,' said Scott, who has also been in the news in unconnected stories related to his friendship with Fadi Ibrahim, of the Sydney celebrity family. 'This all appears to be a desperate attempt by Kennedy to shield his communications with Rolex from scrutiny,' Scott said.

Ally Lewber accuses Lisa Vanderpump of 'manipulating' her to stay with James Kennedy after domestic violence arrest

Ally Lewber is calling out Lisa Vanderpump for 'manipulating' her in the wake of her domestic violence incident with ex-boyfriend James Kennedy last year. The confrontation ended with 33-year-old Kennedy being arrested and later released on $20,000 bail. Appearing on Page Six's Virtual Reali-Tea show this week, 29-year-old Lewber said after the ordeal she received a phone call from Vanderpump, 64, during which the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum tried to convince Ally not to break up with James. 'I'm very impressionable. I trust [Lisa]. I'm like, "You're really smart." … I trust her for the most part,' Ally explained of valuing the restaurateur's advice. She continued, 'She is a Virgo. She's very articulate. She's so well-spoken. Like, it's frickin' Lisa Vanderpump. So when she calls you and she's making you laugh but also kind of making sense, I'm like, 'Is she right? Did I make a wrong choice?'' Ally went on to say that after the call with Lisa she sought advice from former Vanderpump Rules co-star Scheana Shay. She shared, 'I called Scheana after, and she was like, "No, you were just manipulated, and also that was really wrong of her to do." And I was like, "OK, yeah, you're right." I had to literally sit back and [ask], "What?"' After recounting the painful experience, the Bravo personality insisted that she wants the best for her ex-boyfriend, and so does Lisa. 'I think she genuinely has so much love for James, and that's why I felt for her — because I get it. I don't want him to suffer either,' she stated. And she clarified: 'I will say with [Vanderpump being a] Virgo and the helping of it all, I really do think Lisa genuinely wants to help as best as she can.' Kennedy's arrest came amid an argument with his then-live-in girlfriend Ally on December 10, 2024. Law enforcement received a call about an argument between a man and a woman, and allegedly a witness saw James grabbing the woman, though no visible injuries were found. While Scheana kept quiet initially, she broke her silence on the matter in late December via her Scheananigans podcast. 'I was respecting Ally's privacy — as she requested,' Scheana explained at the time. 'So I wasn't going to say anything on the podcast, but I now see how that's coming off by staying silent. So I have spoken to Ally. I check in with her often. I always have. But I know it seems like if I stay silent, you all somehow think I support his behavior, which I absolutely do not,' she clarified.' Mentioning Kennedy's ex-girlfriend Raquel Leviss, she noted, 'Obviously, I was very close with Raquel for years. And while she always told me that James was never physically abusive, as we all know, abuse isn't limited to just physical. 'And ultimately it led to her exiting that relationship. I had a lot of empathy for her… I wanted to do anything I could to help and give her a safe space.' She continued, 'I do hope that James views this as a rock bottom moment and is serious about just committing to a healing plan.'

New Jersey lawmakers weigh in on wildfire preparedness

TRENTON, N.J. (PIX11) — The Jones Road wildfire is prompting some Trenton lawmakers to speak up. 'The biggest public safety and environmental crisis our State is facing today is wildfire,' said Republican Assemblyman Michael Inganamort, who this week called on the Assembly Environmental Committee to convene for a hearing on wildfire preparedness. More Local News 'Whether you have an arsonist or an accidental fire, our forests should not be going up in flames to the speed and the degree that they are,' said Inganamort (R-NJ 24th District). It wasn't long after the Jennings Creek wildfire along the New York-New Jersey border last November that Inganamort initially called for a hearing. He says he's also going to be introducing legislation to increase the amount of prescribed burns, which can help slow the spread of a wildfire. 'I think we need to more proactively manage our forests and the best way to do that is through controlled prescribed burns by professionals who know what they're doing,' said Inganamort. Republican State Senators Parker Space and Latham Tier are also making a call for a hearing, a sentiment supported by Republican Assemblyman Greg Myhre, who represents Lacey, Barnegat, and Waretown. 'It's more important than ever,' said Myhre (R-NJ 9th District). 'We got unlucky and lucky at the same time with this one. So we don't want the next one to be worse than this.' More: Latest News from Around the Tri-State Meanwhile, Democratic Assemblyman James Kennedy expresses concerns about potential federal funding cuts impacting wildfire preparedness. He told PIX11 News in a statement, in part: 'For the federal government to suggest a reduction to these critical firefighting resources is deeply concerning. These brave individuals face life-threatening situations. Now is not the time to scale back – every time an alarm sounds, we want to ensure that we give firefighters every possible tool and resource to protect both lives and property.' -Assemblyman James Kennedy (D-NJ 22nd District).
