Genetec enhances Cloudrunner with advanced ALPR mapping tools
Genetec has announced new interactive mapping features in its AutoVu Cloudrunner system, aimed at giving law enforcement and security professionals more powerful tools to visualise and analyse vehicle data.
The enhancements, which include the newly introduced Report Map and Device Map functionalities, are designed to offer users an intuitive geographic interface for examining Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) information.
This development is intended to help improve both the efficiency and reach of vehicle-centric investigations.
The new Device Map enables investigators to view the locations of all Cloudrunner cameras connected around a given investigation site.
If access to a camera in a critical location is missing, users can now initiate a request to form a third-party partnership directly from the map interface. This functionality is intended to bolster collaboration between law enforcement, businesses, and other security stakeholders.
According to Genetec, the goal is to streamline the sharing of data and improve operational coordination.
"This seamless process strengthens collaboration between law enforcement agencies, businesses, and security stakeholders, expanding investigative reach and enhancing overall security efforts," the company said in a written statement.
Meanwhile, the Report Map feature gives users another way to visualise vehicle activity.
It allows for the narrowing of searches based on a specific geographic area. Investigators can quickly identify where ALPR reads and hits have occurred, track movement patterns, and assess vehicle behaviours such as frequency and common travel routes.
The tool also offers advanced filtering options based on vehicle characteristics like colour, make, and partial number plates. This, according to Genetec, provides valuable contextual insights that help uncover movement trends and potential crime hotspots.
"With Cloudrunner's new mapping tools, law enforcement, security directors, and loss prevention officers can quickly extract meaningful insights and act decisively," said Larry Legere, Commercial Director at Genetec.
"Whether investigating a crime in a dense urban area or tracking a vehicle of interest across jurisdictions, the new Cloudrunner mapping features provide them with a visual perspective to better understand the situation and plan an appropriate course of action."
These latest updates are now available to AutoVu Cloudrunner users across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Genetec has confirmed that customers in these regions can access the new features "immediately" without incurring additional costs or requiring any further setup.
AutoVu Cloudrunner is a vehicle-centric investigative system that supports law enforcement in identifying vehicles of interest through cloud-based ALPR data.
The addition of the Report Map and Device Map tools marks a continued effort by Genetec to expand the system's capabilities and improve the user experience for public safety professionals.
The company, which is headquartered in Montréal, Canada, has been providing security solutions for over 25 years and serves more than 42,500 customers in 159 countries. Its portfolio spans video management, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, and digital evidence management solutions, all built with an emphasis on open architecture and cybersecurity.
The rollout of these new mapping features underscores Genetec's ongoing focus on delivering practical tools to support more efficient and coordinated security operations across jurisdictions.

Viavi Launches VINS to Tackle Rising GPS Jamming for UAV Navigation
Viavi Solutions Inc. VIAV, through its subsidiary Inertial Labs, has launched a Visual-Aided Inertial Navigation System (VINS) designed to enable aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to maintain accurate flight paths even when GPS/GNSS signals are unavailable. The launch comes amid a sharp rise in GPS jamming and spoofing incidents, particularly across North America and Western Europe. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, there are up to 700 such events globally each day, with conflict zones like Lithuanian airspace alone reporting more than 800 interference cases in the final quarter of 2024. These disruptions also adversely impact communication networks and emergency services that rely on accurate geolocation and timing. The newly launched VINS leverages Maxar Raptor 3D vision-based positioning software, which applies Perspective and Point (PnP) principles to match onboard camera imagery, both daytime and infrared, with Maxar Precision3D satellite maps. This technology allows UAVs to execute long-range missions even in highly challenging GNSS conditions. Performance tests have shown that VINS can maintain a horizontal position within 35 meters, vertical accuracy within 5 meters and velocity within 0.9 m/s in GNSS-denied settings. With GNSS active, the system's accuracy improves significantly, offering horizontal positioning within 1 meter and heading accuracy of 0.1 degrees. Designed for low-altitude operations, VINS integrates multiple components, including processing and sensor modules, a GNSS or CRPA antenna, an air-data computer and a digital windspeed sensor, making it compatible with both fixed-wing and multi-rotor UAVs. The system also supports optional features such as a commercial off-the-shelf radio for data transmission and position estimation in GPS-denied environments, along with an Iridium LEO GNSS and M-code/SAASM receiver. The VINS will be showcased at the 2025 Joint Navigation Conference alongside VIAVI's newly launched second-generation RSR Transcoder, a GPS full constellation simulator tailored for military operations in degraded or disrupted space operational environments (D3SOE). Viavi Solutions Inc. price-consensus-chart | Viavi Solutions Inc. Quote Recently, Viavi announced that it is collaborating with 3-GIS, a prominent provider of fiber network design and management software, to enhance enterprises' fiber fault detection capabilities. Fiber networks serve as the backbone of data communications. Viavi reported impressive third-quarter fiscal 2025 results, with both the top and bottom lines surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Solid demand from service providers and network equipment manufacturers for both lab and field instruments supported the top line. Demand for anti-counterfeiting products remains strong. Expansion into various markets such as wireless & fiber, optical transport, Ethernet, broadband access, video testing and storage network testing is likely to bring long-term benefits. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, management expects revenues in the range of $278-$290 million. Non-GAAP earnings per share are expected to be between 10 cents and 13 cents. However, unfavorable macroeconomic conditions, such as reduced end-market demand and supply-chain disruptions, can negatively impact Viavi's financial condition. U.S.-China tensions have led to a loss of business. Viavi currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). A Trade for Kevin Durant Could Be Interesting for Clippers if He Hits the Trade Block
A Trade for Kevin Durant Could Be Interesting for Clippers if He Hits the Trade Block originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Clippers have already been linked to a couple of big names in trade rumors this offseason. Advertisement Lonzo Ball predicted they would trade for his brother, LaMelo Ball. Then there was a report the Clippers would be interested in Celtics guard Jrue Holiday. Now there's a bigger name who could be hitting the trade block soon that might be a bit more interesting for the Clippers. Los Angeles Clippers logoKirby Lee-Imagn Images According to NBA insider Marc Stein, there have been strong indications during the Phoenix Suns' coaching search that they're likely to move on from Kevin Durant this offseason. That could present an opportunity for the Clippers. The Clippers' window to contend with their current core is a small one. James Harden will be 36 at the start of next season and his contract situation is unsettled.. Advertisement Kawhi Leonard will be 34 and has two years left on his deal. If their goal is to contend during the 2025-26 season, their best option may just be to get even older. Durant will be 37 at the start of the year and has a concerning injury history, but he could actually be a great fit in LA and should be the easiest to trade for of any stars available this offseason. The Clippers need help on offense after finishing 20th in the NBA in scoring this past season. Durant is one of the best scorers the league has eve seen and, sespite his age, he is still playing at a high level. This past season, he scored 26.6 points per game while shooting 52.7% from the field and 43% from three. Advertisement He also chipped in 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. His play on the defensive side of the ball would also likely improve if he joined a team that can actually defend. He could slide right into the 4 spot and give the Clippers some size alongside Ivica Zubac. He also shouldn't cost the Clippers a ton, which is important. They have a couple of first rounder and some expiring deals they can trade this offseason, but don't have a ton of firepower to make a move. What they have should be enough to add Durant because of his age and the Suns' own lack of draft picks in the coming years. If the Clippers want to add some more star power this offseason, Durant may be the best they can afford and he'd be a good fit to give the Clippers a couple of chances at a title if they can get him to agree to an extension. Advertisement A trade for Durant would be worth taking a good look at for the Clippers if the Suns are open to a trade offer that gives them a chance to reset. How Hard Will Musk Fight Republicans' Budget Bill?
Can Musk kill the budget bill? Elon Musk hasn't stopped criticizing the budget bill that he has called a 'disgusting abomination.' In fact, he appears to be just getting started. The debate in Washington now is how far Musk will go to try to defeat a bill that — by the assessment of Musk, several Republicans and now nonpartisan watchdogs — will vastly add to the federal debt. 'KILL THE BILL,' Musk posted on X on Wednesday, a message he urged followers to press with members of Congress. He has turned a majority of his feed into a stream of reposts of content criticizing the legislation and denouncing its effect on the nation's $36 trillion debt load. A string of assessments suggest that the bill will add to the debt. The most consequential, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, estimated that the House version of the plan would add $2.4 trillion over the next decade, given both the roughly $3.8 trillion tax cut at its core and additional spending. (Other estimates are even higher, including the Penn Wharton Budget Model's: $2.8 trillion.) A Republican counter: Attack the messenger. The Trump administration advanced hard-to-believe claims about C.B.O. staff members' partisanship, and arguments that its analysis ignores projected economic growth. That said, a previous nonpartisan analysis of the House bill found that the tax cuts would generate nearly no additional economic growth, and even conservatives found the budget office's analysis credible. 'When all the models are in unison,' Erica York, the vice president for federal tax policy at the Tax Foundation, told The Times, 'it really doesn't make sense to triple down on the strategy to blame the scorekeeper.'
