Dr Zaliha: JWP, agencies committed to implementing Kembara Diraja
In a statement on her Facebook page, she said the tour would provide an opportunity for His Majesty to personally engage with the people across the three Federal Territories and distribute zakat aid to those in need.
Yesterday, Sultan Ibrahim announced that he would embark on the Kembara Diraja across the Federal Territories to observe the people's living conditions firsthand and distribute zakat to the poor and the eight eligible asnaf groups.
His Majesty made the remarks during the 2025 Investiture Ceremony held in conjunction with his official birthday at Istana Negara yesterday.
Dr Zaliha said JWP also fully supports His Majesty's emphasis on the need for civil servants to uphold the principle of Loyalty to the King and Country, which aligns with the Harmoni work culture introduced in the Federal Territories as a foundation for good governance.
"As a policy-implementing body, JWP personnel will remain committed to enhancing the delivery of public services that are efficient, with integrity and people-oriented, in line with the spirit of Malaysia Madani," she said. – BERNAMA

Safe Internet campaign enhances digital literacy among rural Sabah students
Published on: Wednesday, July 23, 2025 Published on: Wed, Jul 23, 2025 By: Bernama Text Size: Fahmi speaks at the event. - fotoBERNAMA PAPAR: A Safe Internet Campaign organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at SMK St Mary in Limbahau is helping to boost digital literacy and cyber safety awareness among rural students in Sabah. The initiative, under the Ministry of Communications, goes beyond improving internet access by promoting safe, ethical and responsible online behaviour, particularly among young people. Launched by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, the programme included online safety awareness sessions, interactive activities and teacher training designed to instil strong values and resilience in students facing online threats. Form Three student Faradira Horatio, appointed as the school's K-Dat Captain Icon for the campaign, said such programmes should be expanded to other rural areas to ensure all students benefit from cybersecurity education. 'It teaches us to use the internet and social media responsibly, something many students tend to overlook,' she said, adding that she plans to actively raise awareness among her peers about cyberbullying and promote safe, responsible online behaviour. Form Four student Lee Yuh Hui said the campaign provided new insights on digital footprints and the risks of irresponsible internet use. 'Many students still lack awareness about safe digital practices. This campaign helps fill that gap,' she added. Form Five student Steve Noel said the initiative helped students distinguish between credible and false information online. In a statement, MCMC said the campaign reflects a whole-of-nation approach under the Malaysia Madani framework, involving collaboration between schools, government agencies, parents and local authorities to deliver digital safety messages effectively. 'The internet is more than a communication tool, it's a platform to shape values, spread knowledge, and foster unity. Let's ensure this space remains safe, ethical, and constructive for future generations,' the statement said. Fahmi also joined students in an interactive session, advising them to remain vigilant about cyber threats. Also present were Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and MCMC Chief of State Affairs Bukhari Yahya. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Johari wants review of stall demolition plan, Zaliha says don't worry
Titiwangsa MP Johari Ghani called for the road-widening project to be put on hold while federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said DBKL would meet the stall owners soon. KUALA LUMPUR : Titiwangsa MP Johari Ghani has urged Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to review the planned demolition of nine stalls in Desa Pandan to allow for a road-widening project. He said the road involved was just an inner road while the traders there had been operating legally for years, Berita Harian reported. 'They are licensed, and this is their source of income. So when DBKL came to demolish their stalls the other day, they were very shocked,' said Johari, who is also the plantation and commodities minister. 'Why demolish these stalls to widen a road that isn't a main road?' he asked, calling for the project to be put on hold while DBKL holds talks with stakeholders. Johari also asked if 60 other stalls further down the road would also have to make way for a road-widening project one day. 'Don't worry, we'll help the traders' Separately, federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said DBKL had been engaging with the nine stall owners since November, acknowledging that they were licensed. She said some of them had already agreed to move while others refused to budge. Zaliha said the traders did not need to worry about losing their source of income as the federal territories department and DBKL would ensure that they have an alternative location for their stalls. 'We are supposed to meet them again this month to discuss where they will be moved to. This is part of our 'Lestari Niaga' project (to upgrade and beautify food stalls in KL) so I think they don't have to worry. 'We will do our best to help them and place them elsewhere, while giving them the facilities needed to open their stalls again,' she said when met by reporters at SMK Cochrane here. Zaliha also said that the road widening project needed to be expedited and was necessary for public use. 'I have asked the federal territories department and DBKL to meet the traders immediately and give them several options for new places to operate.' DBKL previously said the hawkers were told to vacate the site on Jan 15, but a final notice was only issued on July 4. During an operation to demolish the stalls on Tuesday, a man got into a brief stand-off with DBKL officers, brandishing a parang and shouting profanities at the officers. He was calmed down by members of the public before being arrested by the police.

DPM Fadillah: 'Appreciation for the People' package shows Madani govt's commitment to rakyat
Fadillah says the initiative demonstrates the Prime Minister's recognition of the rakyat as the backbone of national stability, while reaffirming that the government remains steadfast in its policies and direction. – Bernama photo KUCHING (July 23): The 'Appreciation for the People' financial package announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today reflects the Madani government's strong commitment to the welfare and trust of the rakyat, said Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof. Describing the package as a message of unity and gratitude, Fadillah said it acknowledges the contributions of Malaysians from all backgrounds, including those in rural areas, urban centres, civil service, and agriculture. 'This is clear proof that 'Malaysia Madani' is not just a slogan but a national movement that we indulge in successfully together,' said Fadillah in a statement. He said the initiative demonstrates the Prime Minister's recognition of the rakyat as the backbone of national stability, while reaffirming that the government remains steadfast in its policies and direction. 'The Prime Minister has succeeded in instilling confidence that fiscal reforms are on the right track – with the people's support as the main thrust,' he said. Fadillah pointed to the country's strengthening economic momentum, noting that Malaysia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2025, with a 4.5 per cent projection for the second quarter. He also highlighted Malaysia's jump of 11 spots to 23rd in the World Competitiveness Index 2025, and the ringgit's five per cent appreciation – currently trading at RM4.23 to the US dollar – placing it among Asia's top five performing currencies. 'The success is not just a figure on paper – they reflect increased investment, job creation, and stronger social policies for the people,' he said. Fadillah said the measures further demonstrate the effectiveness of the Madani government's approach in safeguarding public interest. 'As a Sarawakian, I have seen for myself the true meaning of a comprehensive policy. 'The increase in paddy floor prices, rubber incentives, and grassroots programmes such as Sejati Madani are tangible responses to the needs of the rural communities,' he said. He cited the expansion of the Madani Village Adoption Programme to 200 villages, with a target of 1,000 Madani-adopted schools by the end of 2025, as well as the Madani Rahmah Sales, now extended to all 600 state constituencies nationwide. As Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra), Fadillah also welcomed the government's efforts in restructuring energy subsidies and electricity tariffs. Beginning this month, 85 per cent of domestic consumers are expected to see up to 14 per cent reductions in electricity bills. Meanwhile, targeted RON95 subsidies will lower fuel prices to RM1.99 per litre, with savings redirected to benefit Malaysians instead of foreign users. Fadillah said these reforms do not burden the rakyat — they bring fairness and relief to the majority. Fadillah, who is also responsible for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs, expressed appreciation for the additional public holiday announced for Sept 15, in conjunction with Malaysia Day. 'Let us all unite, join forces, and continue to support the Madani agenda that gives meaning to the people's lives. 'From villages to cities, from the Peninsula to Borneo – all Malaysians deserve to enjoy fair and equitable progress,' he said.
